  1. I wouldn't be so quick to write Roden off. I remember how sour folks were on Barger last year when he had a 68 wRC+ and -0.3 fWAR in 225 PAs
  2. Looks like Jacob Parker was taken by the D Backs in the 19th round. I guess he wanted to do his own thing, or the Jays had no interest in him
  3. The Jays must have a behind the scenes deal with the other Parker twin no? He still hasn't been picked.
  4. Jake Cook Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 30 | Run: 80 | Arm: 60 | Field: 65 | Overall: 45 Cook may have the biggest dichotomy between tools and track record of any position player in the Draft. Recruited as a two-way player by Southern Mississippi, he focused on pitching and reached 96 mph with his fastball, but his inability to throw strikes led to him redshirting in 2023 and working just two innings last year. Converted to a center fielder this spring, he batted .350 with a 7 percent strikeout rate and displayed some of the best speed and outfield range in college baseball. Cook didn't look like a hitter who hadn't faced live pitching in an official game for two years, using a disciplined approach to consistently put the ball in play to all fields. He has a slappy left-handed stroke and generates a lot of his contact on the ground and to the left side, which yields infield hits but not much power. He has some strength in his 6-foot-1 frame but will have to rework his swing path to do damage at the next level. A legitimate top-of-the-scale runner, Cook can get from home to first in less than 3.8 seconds and turned in the best 30-yard dash (3.51 seconds) and long jump (10 feet, 8.25 inches) of all players who participated in athletic testing at the Draft Combine. He has yet to develop any basestealing acumen, swiping just three bags in eight attempts this spring. His quickness plays much better in center, where he covers both gaps with ease and has a stronger arm than most at the position.
  5. Jake Cook Two way player, has a 96mph FB and also plays OF
  6. 6 more picks to 81, Jacob Parker still on the board
  7. Funny that they follow up the 10 game win streak by going 1-3 vs the two worst teams in the AL heading into the all star break. That's baseball haha Ah well, if at any point during the last 4 months you'd have told me they'd have a 2 game lead heading into the all star break I would have taken that and been very happy.
  8. The Jays won the division 2015. Sorry but that little inaccurate tid bit was making my left eye twitch.
  9. Clase was so good last year it was unreal, but then he got his ass handed to him in the playoffs. He's not a bat misser either, I'd rather the Jays get someone who racks up more K's. Bednar seems like a no brainer, but at the same time relievers can be such a crap shoot. It'd suck to give up a bunch of assets and then get "Brad Hand'ed" again.
  10. Agreed, I'd be surprised to see him with the Jays this season, especially since they likely add another starter at the deadline. If we do it'll likely because something really bad happened (tons of SP injuries) or something really good happened (like you said....he beasts).
  11. I'm excited to see how Manoah looks. The guy put up 6 fWAR in his first 300 MLB innings and then they brought in the pitch clock and he fell apart. Not sure if that's the only reason he lost it, but I'm sure it was a factor. I remember him being one of the slowest starters in the league in regards to time between pitches in 2022, so no surprise he struggled when the pitch clock was implemented in 2023. Hopefully he's gotten much leaner, and in better shape. At this point it'll be found money if he bounces back to being a stud starting pitcher. He's still young, fairly cheap and under control for 2 more seasons.
  12. It's hilarious. The core he put together underperforms and it's Atkins fault. They start to perform to expectations again and he's just one big ole lucky SOB.
  13. If the Twins sell Atkins should go after Duran and Buxton. Also as previously mentioned, Keller and Bednar from the Pirates. All 4 players under control beyond 2025. (Healthy Lineup) LF - Buxton DH - Springer 1B - Vlad SS - Bo RF - Barger C - Kirk 3B - Clement CF - Varsho 2B - Giminez Bench - Heineman, Lukes, Straw, Schneider SP - Gausman SP - Berrios SP - Bassit SP - Keller SP - Sherzer CL - Duran SU8 - Bednar SU7 - Hoffman MR - Little MR - Fisher MR - Garcia MR - Green / Sandlin / Bruihl LR - Lauer
  14. Trading for David Bednar just makes too much sense for the Jays.
  15. I don't want Springer at the all star game. Better he rests up to keep it going in the 2nd half.
  16. Randy Johnson with a 9.6 fWAR season at 40 years old. Unreal
  17. Speaking of intriguing pitching prospects, I wonder how high up in the system Johnny King will make it this year? Rocking almost 16K/9 through his 1st 30 innings at CPX and Low A.
  18. DeGrom is such a swing for the fences type of move. If he's available i say go for it. Probably should go get a couple high leverage relievers too if guys like Garcia, Burr and Sandlin are just going to keep getting hurt every time they return.
  19. Good, Bassitt looked poised to go 8, it'd be a real piss off to have eat 3 innings with relievers now because of a fricken rain delay.
  20. Have they played enough of this game to chalk er up as a win if they can't get going again?
  21. Yep we would be frightening if Vlad was a $500 million superstar. I just don't think he's got the brain power to sustain any swing adjustments that would lead to that being a reality. So we'll probably just have to take the mostly 130 wRC+ bat with poor D at 1B and poor baserunning and hope for the odd stretch like last season where he caught fire and was 180 wRC+ for about 3-4 months. Hopefully this year's hot streak starts soon and lasts until the Jays are crowned WS champs.
  22. Crazy how badly we all wanted the Jays to sign a big OF bat and got Santander and now with George having a resurgence while Taters is on the IL it turns out we really would have been better off not signing him. Now the Jays have a log jam in the OF and for the DH spot if/when they get healthy. Good problem to have though. Better than the problems they had to deal with in 2023 and 2024.
