I don't think anyone "wants" to trade him, but the Jays have a pretty good group of OFs now and have been tearing MLB up without him, so if he's a piece that can land a top of the rotation starter it's something to think about.

Three closers with control past this season. Agreed, hopefully they can land one. If they landed two of them that'd be something for sure. Nothing like closing out the 7th, 8th and 9th innings with three legitimate, proven closers. Doesn't seem likely, but here's to hoping.

Imagine if Burr, Garcia and Sandlin weren't scuffling with injuries all year. This team would almost not need to add anything.

Yeah Bednar and Keller make too much sense. Roll with a 6 man rotation unless someone gets hurt. Our rotation is full of older dudes with million miles on their arms and they were looking worn out heading into the all star break. Then Bednar gives you that insurance on the closer role and that sweet swing and miss 8th inning guy if Hoffman keeps it together. Also love that both are under control past this season too. Should also get at least one other reliever too.

So Yesavage got knocked around in 3 of his last 4 starts and now hasn't pitched since July 6th. Hmmmm

He's a hitting machine that can't stay healthy.

It'll be interesting to see which minor league arms the Jays part with at the deadline, but as of right now the Jays upper minors system looks like it's going to be stacked with starting pitching going into next season. The Rangers are only 2.5 games out of the wild card and 7-3 in their last 10 with a +56 run diff. Can't see them trading their ace unless they collapse over the next 10 days

At this point if it was a choice between adding another mid rotation starter and a high leverage relief arm or add two high leverage relief arms, I pick option two. I agree with John havoc, it's hard to spend assets to add another mid rotation starter when we already have 5 of those and potentially Manoah coming back as well. If everyone stays healthy, who do you boot from the rotation right now? Lauer would be the easy answer but he's been the best starter for a while now. DeGrom would be such a perfect addition.

I wouldn't be so quick to write Roden off. I remember how sour folks were on Barger last year when he had a 68 wRC+ and -0.3 fWAR in 225 PAs

The Jays must have a behind the scenes deal with the other Parker twin no? He still hasn't been picked.

Jake Cook Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 30 | Run: 80 | Arm: 60 | Field: 65 | Overall: 45 Cook may have the biggest dichotomy between tools and track record of any position player in the Draft. Recruited as a two-way player by Southern Mississippi, he focused on pitching and reached 96 mph with his fastball, but his inability to throw strikes led to him redshirting in 2023 and working just two innings last year. Converted to a center fielder this spring, he batted .350 with a 7 percent strikeout rate and displayed some of the best speed and outfield range in college baseball. Cook didn't look like a hitter who hadn't faced live pitching in an official game for two years, using a disciplined approach to consistently put the ball in play to all fields. He has a slappy left-handed stroke and generates a lot of his contact on the ground and to the left side, which yields infield hits but not much power. He has some strength in his 6-foot-1 frame but will have to rework his swing path to do damage at the next level. A legitimate top-of-the-scale runner, Cook can get from home to first in less than 3.8 seconds and turned in the best 30-yard dash (3.51 seconds) and long jump (10 feet, 8.25 inches) of all players who participated in athletic testing at the Draft Combine. He has yet to develop any basestealing acumen, swiping just three bags in eight attempts this spring. His quickness plays much better in center, where he covers both gaps with ease and has a stronger arm than most at the position.

Funny that they follow up the 10 game win streak by going 1-3 vs the two worst teams in the AL heading into the all star break. That's baseball haha Ah well, if at any point during the last 4 months you'd have told me they'd have a 2 game lead heading into the all star break I would have taken that and been very happy.
