  1. Clase was so good last year it was unreal, but then he got his ass handed to him in the playoffs. He's not a bat misser either, I'd rather the Jays get someone who racks up more K's. Bednar seems like a no brainer, but at the same time relievers can be such a crap shoot. It'd suck to give up a bunch of assets and then get "Brad Hand'ed" again.
  2. Agreed, I'd be surprised to see him with the Jays this season, especially since they likely add another starter at the deadline. If we do it'll likely because something really bad happened (tons of SP injuries) or something really good happened (like you said....he beasts).
  3. I'm excited to see how Manoah looks. The guy put up 6 fWAR in his first 300 MLB innings and then they brought in the pitch clock and he fell apart. Not sure if that's the only reason he lost it, but I'm sure it was a factor. I remember him being one of the slowest starters in the league in regards to time between pitches in 2022, so no surprise he struggled when the pitch clock was implemented in 2023. Hopefully he's gotten much leaner, and in better shape. At this point it'll be found money if he bounces back to being a stud starting pitcher. He's still young, fairly cheap and under control for 2 more seasons.
  4. It's hilarious. The core he put together underperforms and it's Atkins fault. They start to perform to expectations again and he's just one big ole lucky SOB.
  5. If the Twins sell Atkins should go after Duran and Buxton. Also as previously mentioned, Keller and Bednar from the Pirates. All 4 players under control beyond 2025. (Healthy Lineup) LF - Buxton DH - Springer 1B - Vlad SS - Bo RF - Barger C - Kirk 3B - Clement CF - Varsho 2B - Giminez Bench - Heineman, Lukes, Straw, Schneider SP - Gausman SP - Berrios SP - Bassit SP - Keller SP - Sherzer CL - Duran SU8 - Bednar SU7 - Hoffman MR - Little MR - Fisher MR - Garcia MR - Green / Sandlin / Bruihl LR - Lauer
  6. Trading for David Bednar just makes too much sense for the Jays.
  7. I don't want Springer at the all star game. Better he rests up to keep it going in the 2nd half.
  8. Randy Johnson with a 9.6 fWAR season at 40 years old. Unreal
  9. Speaking of intriguing pitching prospects, I wonder how high up in the system Johnny King will make it this year? Rocking almost 16K/9 through his 1st 30 innings at CPX and Low A.
  10. DeGrom is such a swing for the fences type of move. If he's available i say go for it. Probably should go get a couple high leverage relievers too if guys like Garcia, Burr and Sandlin are just going to keep getting hurt every time they return.
  11. Good, Bassitt looked poised to go 8, it'd be a real piss off to have eat 3 innings with relievers now because of a fricken rain delay.
  12. Have they played enough of this game to chalk er up as a win if they can't get going again?
  13. Yep we would be frightening if Vlad was a $500 million superstar. I just don't think he's got the brain power to sustain any swing adjustments that would lead to that being a reality. So we'll probably just have to take the mostly 130 wRC+ bat with poor D at 1B and poor baserunning and hope for the odd stretch like last season where he caught fire and was 180 wRC+ for about 3-4 months. Hopefully this year's hot streak starts soon and lasts until the Jays are crowned WS champs.
  14. Crazy how badly we all wanted the Jays to sign a big OF bat and got Santander and now with George having a resurgence while Taters is on the IL it turns out we really would have been better off not signing him. Now the Jays have a log jam in the OF and for the DH spot if/when they get healthy. Good problem to have though. Better than the problems they had to deal with in 2023 and 2024.
  15. I'd take 3-3 and be happy honestly. Especially since it's on the road and they have sucked on the road. Just don't want to see them fall on their faces with a negative record against the two worst teams in the AL after all the work they've done to not only get into 1st, but build a slight cushion.
  16. Aw man, now I want DeGrom on the Jays. I wouldn't think in a million years he'd accept a trade to TO, but didn't think about the Scherzer connection.
  17. With Burr back, Green looking better as of late and Yimi only nursing a sprained ankle the bullpen seems pretty legit from top to bottom and they still have some legit looking options in AAA with Fluharty, Bruihl and Estrada. If the Jays were to bring a high leverage reliever, who gets the boot? 1. Hoffman 2. Rodriguez 3. Garcia 4. Little 5. Fischer 6. Burr 7. Sandlin 8. Green
  18. The last two years were just a big fat pile of "what CAN go wrong, WILL go wrong" This year has been refreshing so far. Imagine how much further ahead they'd be if Vlad and Bo were actual superstars and not just lumped in with the rest of the 2-ish WAR players that riddle this roster.
  19. Wasn't it Robbie Ray who biffed it down some stairs in his house during pre-season in his Cy Young year?
  20. If anything it feels like they have more left in the tank. The starters have been decent, but far from great. Especially Gausman. Vlad has been OK but he could easily go on a tear the way he does sometimes. Santander is -0.9 fWAR and injured. He could come back a start smashing bombs. Varsho hasn't even factored in yet. Plus, the TDL will see some additions without a doubt.
  21. Jays are in a weird spot with the rotation because as it stands they have 5 'good' performing starters but at the same time they have 0 'elite' starters. And at the same time it feels like one or two wheels could fall off any minute now between Lauers track record or Scherzers thumb. If you add another back of the rotation starter does it really move the needle? Well, if a wheel falls off then sure it does, but what if the wheels stay right where they are? Seems like they should add a #1 somehow, and if they cant then just stand pat with the rotation and add a high leverage reliever or two.
  22. I'd like to see Milner added to the pen. Texas should be selling and with Fluharty struggling and sent down the Jays could use another lefty in the pen. I'd also be interested in Bird from the Rockies as a late inning setup up reliever.
  23. I wonder if there is any chance the Nats would trade Gore?
  24. Oh wow, that's promising. Hopefully just rusty with the control and new found velocity. A lefty with 99 in the arsenal is nice. He can work on control hopefully.
  25. Barrierra looks like he's really struggling in the CPX. But yeah, tons of talent there to work with. Good thing because the Jays rotation is old and fading.
