  1. The fact we had Biggio hitting middle of the order in two playoff games last year really said something about our team and lineup. Biggio is to susceptible to the high heat and it shows and the league knows it. I really liked Biggio when he came up, even more so that Vlad and Bo. However, Biggio does not make this Team better, nor is he part of taking this team to the next level. It was time ( I would say off season) but it needed to be done. Credit to Atkins for taking the first step in what needs to be done. (Still want to fire his ass though!
  2. I thought if not traded and claimed, the claiming team is only responsible for $650k or whatever the MLB minimum is these days and the Jays have to pay the rest?
  3. Why the F do you want to bring Mitch White back?? To take up a 40 man spot?
  4. No, negative. Bad investment. The team probably also needs a cultural change. That means getting rid of Vlad.
  5. If a guy like Biggio was taking high fast balls from Mason Miller he would have voluntarily DFAd himself.
  6. The Team is a .500 team best case. Last year, with a better Team, their longest wining streak was 5 games. This Team is not as good and the competition is better this year.
  7. What happened there, I missed it? Did he stumble or quit on it, or both?
  8. I think that is the only time in your life you will hear Kirk and over ran in the same sentence.
  9. The A's are just setting up the DP by putting Kirk on 1B
  10. I picture Atkins and Shapiro being Sim City dudes..
  11. For me it has do to with organizational ability to identify and develop pithing. He was the perfect type of candidate the Blue jays should have taken a flyer on considering their lack of actual credible depth. The Yankees are able to identify and develop, Thorpe, Ortiz, Vasquez, King to get them Soto, they traded away Sears, Montgomery, have Gil and Schmidt (IL) in the rotation. Call up Poteet for three emergency starts. Pitches 6 inning against the Guardians for a win, beats the Giant for the win, and pitches shutout baseball against the Dodgers. Maybe it is the selection process and development.
  12. Cody Poteet went to the scrap heap from the Marlins after his IL stint. He has showed promise with the Marlins. KC picked him up that I thought was smart. Then the Yankees ended up picking him up. He has made spot starts all year with very good success. He pitched almost 5 inning of shutout baseball tonight against the Dodgers. Poteet is someone the Jays could have and should have jumped on in the off season as one example.
  13. We would still lose every 5th game when we faced Garrett Crochet.
  14. Is that the team that Wayne Gretzky plays for?
  15. Every spring training we argue on this board about pitching depth behind the top 4. I am told we have plenty and called names every year. Every year I unfortunately shake my head about this time of year.. And it will rinse and repeat in the 2025 off season unless FO changes.
  16. So I think we can all agree that the best player drafted during the Atkins regime was Bichette taken in the 2016 draft. Same draft as Biggio So for those who don't remember the Jays scouting director and others we all fired shortly thereafter. In addition, the the area scout, Mat Bishoff, who identified Bichette and developed the relationship/repour with him, also is gone. That whole Team was left over from the AA years. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-fire-scouting-director-parker-crosschecker-david/
  17. That was also when you played each team in the division 19 times a year and when the Red Sox vs Yankees were a thing and we were not competitive spenders in most of those years. I think most of us gave credit to the FO for getting to the playoffs the first few years. I was even estatic about adding Varsho, Bassitt, Belt and KK last year. However, after the trade deadline I lost faith in this FO and the post season and news conference plus lack of activity in the off season has 100% lost me. It’s not what have you done for me 3 yrs ago, it is what have you done for me lately and how are we positioned going fwd. On both notes it is a fail.
  18. That list is not apples to apples. Tampa has/had a whole rotation on the IL and 1/3rd of their position players. Look who they have coming back later in the year. Houston same with their rotation. Texas, same. Giants, not anticipated to be good, neither St. Louis. AZ was ahead of schedule last year. They still have very solid specs waiting in the wings to contribute. The Jays were basically full strength in mid April and still sucking with a $230 million payroll to boot. Also, anyone who has been watching or plays Fantasy could tell you the AL Central would be stronger, Boston and NYY would be better and Seattle would be in the mix with their pitching. Which says to me no way the Jays can have a team equal to or less than 2023 and coast to the WC3.
  19. Jays don’t have an aircraft carrier. Other successful teams have at least one some two. We have a guided missile Frigate and one of those helicopter carriers if it can put to sea. Zero aircraft carriers.
  20. One earned run against their SP3 and pen in our home park.
  21. I would have bet $500 USD that Norby was going to K there. He is one of their weaker rated prospect. First AB against Gausman... Nope...
