  1. Except one hits singles, the other HRs. One I am worried about his knees or back in 5 years, the other one I am not. One brings WS cred to the team, the other Romper Room.
  2. Your ok with $28.5 AAV for Vlad for 7 more years, if 7 even gets it done?
  3. Not interested in $25-30 mil AAV a year for Luis Arreaz lite who plays a s*** 1b seems to make a mental blunder once a week and has a body type that could have him out of baseball at 32.
  4. Well simply to distinguish that you can be both a great closer in save situations and a horrible option in non save. Being that today’s situation where he sucked was a non-save situation.
  5. Dude, we are not arguing about saves and Romero. We look at splits and counter with everything in baseball. You can be the best hitter in baseball for 5 yrs against RHP, but horrible against LHP. You can be the best pitcher against lefties, but atrocious against RHB. There are pitchers who dominate the 8th or 1 inning of work, you put them in the 9 or for two innings they suck. We need to recognize that Romano has not been effective in non save situations for two seasons and adapt. Now, what the Jays can do about it with what they currently have, I don’t know. But same as Springer in the lead off spot and countless other examples. The metrics don’t support Romano in non save situations.
  6. Your post does not address my point. Romano had an over 6 ERA in 2023 in non save situations, haven’t even checked yet for 2024. And yea, ERA is not a good measure etc blah, blah blah. Memorial Day weekend and not going to do a deep dive in HRs allowed non save etc. The fact is with RPs, what they did in 2021 doesn’t mean a hell of beans. I am talking about non-save situations, he has not been an effective option the past 200 plus games. Fact.
  7. Romano is/has been horrible going back a while in non save situations. Especially with the long ball. An elite pen knows how to keep the game close or tied and not just execute holds and saves.
  8. This isn’t the try league. This is the get it done league! JD
  9. Keep in mind we are missing Skabul, most likely odds on AL Cy Young winner so far. If they were facing Skabul, God help them!
  10. Mookie has slow bat speed or EV or something. Who wants that!!
  11. Remember when Tampa started all left handed batters against Romero. That worked and was the mental nail in Romero’s head along with his other issues and his knees. I don’t see the Jays having the balls to make a change like that.
  12. I come from the school that IF you are going to talk smack, you need to be able to back it up. Your Fantasy smack talk was just that no walk.
  13. Yea, but he looked Elite at the MLB level to start the year. I would also say D is more transferable to the MLB level from the minors than hitting.
  14. I honestly thought he was elite D. What the hell happened?
  15. Stop with the personal attacks against Connor.
  16. Who is your current SS?
  17. Great interview. Seriously more out of that 10-15 mins from AA of substance then I have heard from Ross in 8-9 yrs. Not hyperbole. AA also talked about EV and how you will always hit ground balls with more velocity. So you need to look at contact rate and ground ball % etc and not live and die by EV. Fnnn really good interview and spot on!
  18. If the Jays can’t beat that CWS lineup and SP tonight, might as well switch over to a beer softball league
  19. They sucked and were underperforming before LaRussa.
  20. Approval in my business also means accountability. Ergo, if Shapiro's underling is not performing and Shapiro doesn't/hasn't take/en corrective actions, it is ultimately on Shapiro.
  21. The second strike call to Lowe was a ball and put him in an 0-2 hole, so it is going both ways.
  22. The Jays changed the process to involve free hamburgers and ice cream for every home run hit. Danny responded! @trust the process.
  23. They have interviewed multiple former baseball Presidents who came from the baseball side (a la Shapiro vs Beeston). They across the board unequivocally said the President is involved in player/personnel decisions. How could he not after being a GM for so many years. He has not even made an effort to separate himself in interviews. Andrew Friedman in not the GM of the Dodgers. You don't think he is involved in baseball player/personnel decisions?
  24. Not sure why anyone here thinks there is some Chinese wall between Shapiro and Atkins on the baseball side. Shapiro is a better politician and salesman, but they are one and the same as far as baseball operations.
  25. Insert Spanky meme with the guy looking bewildered saying WTF.
