    Not comparing him at all to Civale. Which I probably should have made more clear. My comment was specifically to the Blue Jays using him as a playoff pitcher. Just a shot at what happened last year.

    The Jays left Kikuchi off the playoff rotation last year, and pulled Berrios after 3 stellar innings. You really think they would let him go 5 ip in a playoff game? Kikuchi avg 4.2 innings or something last year and does not have a good history end of the year even in the regular season.. I think he is physically spent by end of year.

    The 7-8 previous posts is why I have no idea why the FO signed KK in the off season with the intention of having him play CF when he plays. People criticized the IFK signing, but it was also in the context of the total roster construction. IFK, KK, Biggio, Varsho etc just didn't go to great overall roster construction.

    Where do you draw the line? What about the lineman who keeps your power on in storm or the snowplow driver. I think the difference is that troops sign up to and have laid their life on the line/died to keep the country free. That is supposed to be the point of the birth of nation or a day that signifies a nations independence. Troops wear the flag and represent Canada word wide. Celebrating a countries most important day without recognizing the military contributions would be an embarrassment.

    Surprised not on here yet or MLB trade rumors. However, multiple U.S sites are saying that according to MLB insiders, the Jays have already reached out to teams and made every player with an expiring contract available. I think we all knew they were going to do this. However, first time I am seeing anything that the Team has actually started down that path formally.

    It appears every AL WC team ahead of the Jays has won or will win today. I really hope the FO is still not at the let’s wait and see point. Even if they have a great next 25 days. That is a SSS compared to the body of work we have seen in a full season and a half. Plus with our current BP situation. No just the tip. Balls in!!

    Too bad really. Seems like a good dude. Also, a lefty RP if performing well with only a pro rated part of a $3 mil contract left would maybe fetch something interesting in A ball etc at the deadline.

    So I just saw the Vlad HR. I checked it since I saw some comments about it. I fnnn love bat flips and all that. I am against the Miami rule in college football. However, Vlad pimping the HR plus the bat toss and the jacket etc for a solo HR when down 3 is just not smart IMO. Not a good Team message IMO and probably gave the Yankees a little umph as they went on the tack on 9 more runs after that.

    On an airplane about to take off so can’t rebut much other than to say every mlb pitcher will tell you that batters are generally not pitched the same with runners on or RISP then without. So it is not some romanticism, it is ability to adapt. Up until apprx 7 -10 days ago, Vladdy was having some very poor quality ABs and the results in general were just not there with runners on. I am saying that I want to see more consistency and I expect more and we all should from what we have seen in 2022, 2023 and through the half way point of June 2024. I’l be back Later……

    That tracks with what my eyes, ears and gut tell me. If an extension were viable, it probably would have happened now on at least one of them. At this point you have very little leverage for an extension. The other issue that I can’t over emphasize, is the issue that both Vlad and Bo are MLB kids. They are want for naught in their families. This eliminates the need to lock in generational wealth before an career ending injury or decline in performance etc. I would say 90% Bo is gone by end of 2025 and Vlad 50%.

    Go back 7 days and take out the 4 hrs and 12 RBIs. I specifically mentioned that I want to see consistency. I stated “up until” the last week or so. Also, as Big Cecil pointed out. I can Cherry pick Whataboutisms all day long. I am looking at Vlad’s overall body of work from 2022 since a 3 yr sample size is generally the industry standard to make an evaluation and eliminate outliers. If we are going to compare Olson and Alvarez etc, let’s go back to the start of the 2022 season to present. Lastly, I am worried about the Blue Jays and their results and accountability. We (the Jays) need to win consistently, Vlad “our superstar” needs to produce to that level consistently. This is also in the context of if/should we and if so how much an extension. Saying “some” other guys are underperforming also, is not a results oriented solution or analysis in my world.
