  1. Jays look over-matched but at least they already have a couple hits
  2. Or try pretending it is only a spring training game.
  3. Ironically, on a night when Pillar makes one of his patented leaping catches to rob extra bases and runs, Kiermaier lets a grounder scoot under his glove for a 3 base error and a Little league HR to Lorenzo Cain. http://m.royals.mlb.com/news/article/229091178/lorenzo-cain-scores-on-rare-error-against-rays/
  4. Thanks, that's very gracious of you. LOL!
  5. So are we allowed to 's***' on Boxcar because his guy botched a play in the field and is 0 for 3 so far in the game?
  6. Yeah he hasn't been totally bad, but this games seems like a textbook example of a pitcher benefiting from solid defensive play behind him. You have to give him some credit for being able to induce those 3 double plays..... But yeah, just under 100 pitches and luck is going to run out -BP time.
  7. And a real working class player too
  8. I keep scratching my head wondering is Travis just unlucky so far this season, because the percentages ground/line/fly and soft/med/hard contact as broken down on fangraphs don't seem to explain the low average.
  9. And not totally 'selfless' as he gets 2 RBI on the play instead of 1 if the runner is cut down at the plate. As far as it being a lucky bloop single, well he was at .284 BABIP on the season going in so maybe due for a lucky one. Pearce is only .250 and Travis is just dreadful at .179. What's a typical league average BABIP ?
  10. The guy can be impressive at times. Just needs to hit more often.
  11. At least with Bautista it is only a 1 year commitment. Encarnacion is a notorious slower starter with a career wRC+ of 102 in Apr. His current wRC+ in 2017 is 108, so he may have a good season if he follows his usual pattern of heating up in May and June. Let's just hope it doesn't happen until after this series in TO.
  12. Donaldson is unlikely to be back anytime soon, based on his comments over the weekend. Hopefully within a couple more weeks. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/donaldson-cant-guarantee-return-blue-jays-upcoming-homestand/ I don't see any more info about Tulo in the last few days.
  13. Another rough day for the Giants, shut out 4-0 by the Reds. Jays are now a full game ahead of the Giants and half game up on KC.
  14. Sorry to disappoint you;) The actual comment I saw on the most recent Sportsnet article said: "Gibby said it because they are trying to sell tickets for that home stand." So I don't know if that was based on anything Gibbons actually said (if so likely trying to make a joke) or if the post was just BS. Anyways, once again my apologies.
  15. That's why it is called speculation. Even if coming from reporters or 'pundits', it is often totally baseless regardless of whether the underlying rationale is logical. Speak of attendance, I see official attendance of 15,068 in TB today. How many of those were Jays fans (yeah probably most games there with more than 10k is due to a boost from fans of the visiting team). It would be interesting to see how much difference a better stadium would have.
  16. Just unsubstantiated speculation on comments section of an article, so no credible source involved. I wouldn't subscribe to that theory - didn't they already have 2.5M tickets sold before spring training even started?
  17. I saw speculation that they put the rumors out to try to boost advance ticket sales for the upcoming home stand. If true, that is no way to stay in good graces with your fan base....... Of course winning games will be enough to keep the fans placated even if it is with a make-shift lineup.
  18. Yeah those articles on Donaldson's current status give a pretty depressing picture of his status. Also, not seeing any talk of Tulo's situation. So that talk of them both returning to the lineup this coming week is looking like nonsense.
  19. Which brings us to the question: who gets moved out to make room on the roster when Donaldson and Tulo return? Would Travis benefit from some playing time at AAA ?
  20. And lest we forget, the Rays 1 run was unearned!
  21. Thankfully, he once again bent but didn't break. Need to give this guy more than a 1 run lead to work with.
  22. The peripherals on Travis don't look bad, compared to previous years, but seems to be having no BABIP luck. Still, at some point you need to wonder WTF is going on.
  23. Yep looks like a 12 game hit streak.
