  1. Another example of why the assigning of W/L to pitchers is the most useless stat in baseball - Sanchez on the hook to take the loss in a 1-0 game on an unearned run. Yesterday it was Leone getting a win after recording just one out.
  2. Normally I would have been OK with the bunt, but with .036 hitting Maile coming up ? Are they f***ing kidding ?!
  3. Jays starting to come back to life, so naturally the replay office in New York has to put them back in their place.
  4. Jays have been playing with only 3 on the bench and an extra reliever. So Tulo addition will probably just lead to bumping out a reliever. When Donaldson comes back is when they need to clear out a position player.
  5. Well he is capable of more than what we have seen so far with the Jays (career OPS of .515 versus .157 so far this season).
  6. But considering he is nursing that bad hamstring, I don't mind him walking to first on a groundout right now.
  7. He is looking fantastic. Unfortunately, as comes with a lot of strikeouts along with the Mariners grinding out their at bats, he is up to 68 pitches already through 4.
  8. Yeah when Donaldson comes back someone will be the odd man out and seems it will be Coghlan unless they were to instead option Travis to AAA, which I doubt.
  9. If Biagini continues to do well, it would seem you don't want to mess with success. But he is also a valuable member of a not so great bullpen. It will also be interesting to see what happens with Bolsinger.
  10. BUT Morales back in the lineup. Which will be followed by Sanchez tomorrow, Tulo next week and hopeful a steady stream of returnees from the DL after that.
  11. Really nice how he spotted his fastball on both sides of the plate there.
  12. I thought he might since they haven the big left-handed bat of Seager on deck. But Cruz is obviously the bigger threat so seems he is playing it right.
  13. We are going to have to wait and see if some of the signs of an improved approach and better results are sustained. Could be one of those things where he has a career year or half year and then regresses back (like Saunders first half in 2016).
  14. Maile is clearly a well below replacement level catcher on the offensive side. It's like watching an NL team with him in the lineup.
  15. Yeah the injury page on mlb.com still says "possibly week of May 15th" for Donaldson, but seems the following week (maybe the last weekend of May) is best case scenario. This may be wishful thinking but I wonder if with these older players being out on the DL early in the season will be beneficial later on in Aug/Sept. with less accumulated 'wear and tear' that comes from playing regularly over a long season. If the team can keep inching forward in their absence, maybe they could still make a second half push?
  16. Yeah and I still think Grilli can rebound if he can locate his fastball better. One thing that jumps off the page in the boxscore from this game: 2-out RBI: Smoak 3, Pearce 3 Way to get it done guys !!!
  17. Too bad we can't say the same for Grilli. Looks awful this season. ETA: and right after I post that, he actually gets a K. Well at least he might be good for mop up duty.
  18. Estrada not looking to good: keeps throwing changeups up in the strike zone.
  19. Estrada already up to 50 pitches through 2 and 1/3. WTF
  20. How ironic to see these two comments posted back to back. It's been that kind of season so far..........
  21. Cubs lost 3-0 yesterday (Holland with his 14th save already!) to drop to .500 and are 4th in their division. What looked like a cake walk for them is shaping up to be a real battle (as for the Red Sox in the ALE).
  22. Gotta give the Jays kudos for continuing to plug away after getting behind 7-3 early. And Goins with two big hits on fastballs up and in in the past few games. And the best part of this win is they did it off one of the best relief pitchers in the game. There's definitely still a pulse in these 2017 Jays!
  23. Bolsinger trying to keep the Jays in it, but can they do anything to generate some offense ?!
