  1. Actually Loup now has an impressive ERA of 1.35 in 8 appearances / 6.2 ip while allowing 1 of 3 inherited baserunners to score. Certainly beats the hell out of Howell!
  2. I have a feeling Pearce is going to get his first XBH of the season today. Not that it will be enough to overcome that popgun lineup and get the W. But who knows, maybe the Cards will bungle their way to another loss.
  3. WOW!! I should have known better than to relax going into the bottom of the 7th with a 4 run lead. Will this team set a new record for the latest date into the season before they finally win two in a row? Also do you continue to go with Osuna as closer? Too bad because he was starting to look better today (despite the leadoff hit) until that HR.......
  4. Grilli spot on deck with bench already used up.....
  5. Yeah in limited playing time (18 PA worth), Salty already is listed with -0.4 fWAR. It has taken Bautista 85 PA to beat that with -0.5 fWAR. Although Pearce has only required 45 PA to register -0.5 fWAR. Race to the bottom ! I don't know whether to laugh or cry anymore:(
  6. Yep, I posted that link about a week ago. Seems like it continues to be very relevant as the Jays sink deeper. It's one thing to be undermanned, but the fill-ins still need to be able to play fundamentally sound. If the front office decides they "can't stand for this nonsense any longer" (as they should), how do they respond? Doesn't Gibbons have to be held accountable for this clusterf***?
  7. And Bautista and Morales continuing to do not much of anything. I fear these guys are getting way too used to losing.
  8. That makes me feel worse because the Jays had been 0.5 GB of the Giants for the second worst record in MLB. Then again, tanking for 1st draft pick is something to look forward to .............
  9. I don't think so. Bandwagoners want to cheer for a team that wins or at least one that is fun to watch. This team is currently neither. Absolutely dreadful to be shut down by that mediocre Angels pitching.
  10. Stroman inducing 2 double plays in 2 innings so far. I think the reliever Campos induced back to back DPs in the 7th and 8th innings last night as well.
  11. You forgot to include Tulo is also out. He had been leading the team in RBIs. Good news is Travis and Bautista are starting to look better at the plate, even though the results last night didn't show it.
  12. Martin has been going it going lately. Salty is just trash, including setting a franchise record for consecutive strikeouts!
  13. his OPS is .118 before that at bat!! how could they not pinch hit Martin?
  14. The good news is Bautista had a nice approach by driving the ball down and away to the opposite field. It's a good sign for him maybe still having a change of getting on track.
  15. Jays bullpen with 8 innings of work and zero earned runs. No thanks to the dummies who made errors in bottom of the 13th, and then we have Carrera with his adventures in LF........
  16. Suspenseful, yes. Poorly played, YES! But a win is a win!
  17. At least he he pulled out another escape!
  18. Can you blame Loup though when 2 fielding errors led to 2 of the 3 baserunners? What a pile of garbage this team is !
  19. You know the saying even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally.
  20. James Paxton (Ladner, B.C.) 25.1 ip in 4 starts, 1.78 ERA, 1.14 FIP, 1.3 fWAR he had 3 excellent games with no ER surrendered until getting roughed up for 5 runs in 4.1 ip last night.
  21. Fair enough. I hope the guy gets it going and has a decent year. But I really think he should consider retiring after this season.
  22. It is clear when he goes up to the plate and is taking half-hearted cuts that the confidence is lacking. He let a changeup that was up in the zone go right by him on his 4th plate appearance with a 1-0 count. A confident player would have made Sale pay for that mistaken location. You may be right that he can still get going, but this thing is snow-balling big time. He is also feeling not just pressure for his own performance, but the entire franchise is at a crisis point, for which he knows he should be the guy to step up and can't.
  23. yes the BEST thing Atkins/Shapiro ever did so far was not signing JB to a long-term contract. Possibly the worst thing they did so far was signing him to a 1 year contract. They should have stuck by their guns and kept the page turned on the Bautista era as they had intended when the season ended
  24. But there is a difference between being in a slump that you know you will eventually break out of and having that sinking feeling that you just don't have it anymore. I believe he is mentally shot and whether he can regain his composure is in doubt.
