  1. Only Estrada (maybe Hendricks also) could get a guy out with 3 consecutive change ups. Impressive!
  2. He sure is looking good right now. He must be feeling good (touching 92 mph on the fastball).
  3. I'm with you there. And even Britton is a question mark, as I saw he got roughed up in a minor league outing (I think at A advanced).
  4. What a time to be a Yankees fan! And 2 blown leads out of 3 games in the bottom of the 9th. Looks like that O's BP isn't so bulletproof after all.
  5. WOW I just looked up Travis numbers. Very similar % LD, GB, FB and similar % soft, med. hard contact comparing between 2016 and 2017. It is all BABIP (above average .358 in 2016 and a very unlucky .158 so far this season).
  6. He was gradually waking up but yeah that may have helped accelerate the process. Now if they can get back Donaldson and Tulo and Pillar keeps producing out of the leadoff spot, this team's offense starts to look pretty good again.
  7. So Gibby would get to choose from Coghlan, Carrera and Maile to replace him. Maybe go with Stroman? /sarc.
  8. So typical of how this season has being going. Bullpen keeping them in the game and they can't buy a run. Loup's ERA now down to 1.04!?
  9. Yes those two along with Howell have been garbage so far, but more was expected of Morales. And after looking good the first week or so, he seems much less sharp at the plate, swinging at more bad pitches, less solid contact, etc. Hopefully he gets it going again.
  10. I guess we should give slow-poke Smoak credit for being able to score from 1st on a double. Martin BA now equal to that of Morales, who is quickly on his way to being the most disappointing addition to the team.
  11. Yeah the time to fire him would have been after his team got beat 2 years in a row in the ALCS by an inferior opponent.
  12. Speaking of nonsense. You don't take a chance of making the first out at 3rd base. Especially when you are down 4 runs..... ETA: actually I realized after posting that would have given him the cycle - yeah should have gone for it. The game was pretty much lost anyway.
  13. Jinxed for the pitiful decision to wear the red uniforms on every Sunday home game ?
  14. It's a 'sunk cost' you know like Smoak's $8M contract extension.
  15. Yes especially with Martin swinging the bat a lot better lately including that long HR yesterday. Maybe Gibby is hoping they fire him so he can get paid and not have to work for it ?
  16. I agree. He is pissed that the team is floundering. BUT he needs to put on his big boy pants and be a professional. I thought he had a reputation for being a good team guy, but so far this season seems not so much. Maybe that thing a while back with Donaldson yelling something while Morales was at the plate is a hint of some dissension.
  17. Was having good at bats consistently the first 8-10 games, but seems to be just mailing it in since.
  18. No doubt. But you could say the same about the Jays to some extent. Although the Jays 'under-performing talent' have more question marks about how well they rebound.
  19. Red Sox offense has been pretty bad. They are dead last in HR with only 11 and 28th in XBH. Even the lowly Jays have more XBH than Boston. Jays and Sox are now tied for 26th with 78 runs scored. How crazy would it be if they continue to scuffle and the division comes down to O's versus Yankees !?
  20. If it is an 84 win team over 162 games (.519) and they win at that rate over the remaining 140 games, that would give a total of 78-79 wins. This season is looking more and more like a write-off as far as chances to make the post season. So, the assessment needs to be done by the FO on their chances of rebounding in 2018 with a re-tooling that includes some shrewd trades and a better job with free agency in the coming off-season than they did this past one. If not, then they may go for a more thorough overhaul (the 'blow it up' option).
  21. It's not "schooling", it's pointing out to the other poster that this much-maligned player is actually doing half decent so far. As far as being a fine LOOGY - not so much in 2017 to date what with lefties hitting .571 off him. But don't bother with facts, just keep listening to the voices in your head for information.
  22. Meaning ? I was just responding to Loup being included in the list of players that need to go by pointing out his results to date don't warrant it. Yes he is not very good, but it's not like they have any better LH options for the pen right now.
  23. Maybe instead of trading Osuna, they should have done more to fortify the bullpen via free agency. I wonder if they tried very hard (or at all) to get Greg Holland.
