  1. If he can slug the way he did earlier in the year, I'm fine with him, I was never someone who was in love with the Varsho deal, I always hated the deal, I still think we didn't maximize the perceived value of Moreno. They prioritized years of control, just like they did with Varland. If he can slug, I can deal with it but if he doesn't slug then it's rough watching him at the plate.
  2. Well in fairness they went after two generational talents in the last 2 years, they just didn't want to come here. It takes two to tango.
  3. Well at the end of the day, the two things that people weren't thrilled about for each of these guys was lack of command with one and lack of whiff with the other. We now have two pitchers, one left handed and one right handed, that strike out a lot of guys but we'd be nervous to bring either one in with runners on. It's still a flawed bullpen. The hope is that enough of them are on their game that we can find a way through.
  4. It is quite astonishing that he can't even foul off a high fastball, I mean hitters have their weaknesses in their swing but I've never seen one who literally is physically incapable of touching the ball in a certain part of the strike zone. It's almost beyond belief.
  5. It would be hilarious if the Red Sox win this division after all they went through and the Devers trade with them doing the least at the deadline.
  6. I think you got the wording of that wrong. It expressed the opposite of what you intended.
  7. He's not a strikeout pitcher. There was no problem with the pitchers that pitched they just failed to get the job done. These are guys that we are going to have to rely on so you live and die with them.
  8. Our two bullpen acquisitions just Yankee'ed themselves.
  9. Really wish we picked up a second left-handed reliever at the deadline. Sucks to only have one real option, and someone that you don't feel comfortable bringing in with runners on. That's a real weakness.
  10. Everybody left the Red Sox for dead but they're coming hard.
  11. If he can give us some slugging from the left hand side he brings a lot of value to this team because they don't have enough slugging. He takes his walks. He can even bunt. He'll always be a strikeout merchant and he'll never hit for a high average but if he can do those other things he brings us value. He NEEDS to slug though.
  12. I'd rather have Varsho not do any rundowns coming back from a hamstring injury. He should have just left Clement die on the bases.
  13. Bieber done in Buffalo: 62 (47 strikes) Pitches 5 IP 5 H 2 ER 1 HR 6 K 1 BB
  14. Yankees will be fine as long as Judge is not seriously injured for a long period of time. They have too much talent to not go on a run. My takeaway from this has more to do with the Marlins. Weren't they like 15 or 16 games under .500 at one point? They are playing some fantastic baseball.
  15. Springer, Guerrero, Bichette, Kirk, Barger There are your damage bats. Varsho, Gimenez can give you some left-handed hitting but are everyday players because of their elite defense up the middle. We probably won't have Santander, and that's unfortunate, but at worst, if otherwise healthy, we are filling in only a couple of spots with platoon options. Decent platoon options. Is that any worse than most lineups in baseball? Yeah I know a right-handed power bat would have been nice, but we don't have the deepest system and we prioritized what we really needed more.
  16. I trust the assessment of the people that will have eyes on Manoah. With the rotation we have, yeah it's worth having a look at him. 1000%. It'll only happen if they think he has something to offer right? Otherwise it's a moot point. Our rotation is mediocre. There's no getting around that. Any chance of even moderate improvement we have to take. I still see the potential upside as being worthwhile. As long as the organization sees it that way.
  17. It would be but it's not reasonable to expect, especially with Gil back, assuming Judge isn't a bigger problem than it looks. They have fixed their major issues. Stanton has come back strong. They will likely go on some sort of extended run at some point.
