  1. Irvin needs to get 6 outs this inning
  2. You can't compare postseason appearances across different Wild Card eras
  3. A year ago Kikuchi would've been pulled an inning ago. The computer is making better decisions
  4. Right on Left, one of the hardest guys on the team to double up. Bizarre move.
  5. Elite front offices are filled with mediocre ex players with genius IQs. What are Atkins' qualifications/credentials anyways? Friedman was a finance whiz kid before baseball. Tampa's front office is filled with ex players with Harvard and Stanford MBAs. Even Keith Law went to Harvard and his career consists of saying mean things about prospects and critiquing Top Chef risotto recipes. I hate to be elitist, but we are talking about high powered positions with millions of dollars at stake. Was Atkins so good during his stint in Cleveland that he's earned this much rope? I don't know, I'm just asking because the product here over the past several years has not exceeded expectations.
  6. This team has a monopoly over arguably the largest market in MLB. If the organization can't build a sustainable winner without tanking for the 1st overall pick that's a reflection of the org.
  7. The single most important personnel decision the team president can make is GM. His two major moves in nearly 10 years was to quiet fire Anthopoulos and to hire and retain Atkins for all this time. Is Shapiro really that much of a business genius that he can't be replaced by someone with better judgement on key personnel?
  8. It's really funny that you could be referring to any one of 3 key players above
  9. Siddall is an OK announcer but what makes him special is that he's the only one who has the balls to consistently point out dumb s*** the team does. Dan and to a lesser extent Buck will hold their tongue but Siddall doesn't really give a s***, ever since the Montoyo era. Pay that man
  10. You can't really fire Schneider after he got absolutely hung out to dry by upper management for the Berrios incident. I mean you could, but you would develop a reputation in the industry as a POS organization.
  11. Barger is an absolute butcher out there
  12. Do you have sources for this?
  13. Dude, why would you just believe these words when you have 5+ years of behaviour that refutes this. Nobody at any level has held Guerrero accountable from the first day he stepped foot on the team.
  14. Guerrero also leads all of MLB in GIDP since he became a regular. Batting him leadoff would probably add a half win from baserunning value alone.
  15. Danny was overmatched in that AB
  16. Who knew, an elite athlete in his physical prime could get in shape with clean diet and exercise.
  17. Barger drinks more Red Bull than Brett Lawrie
  18. There are richer owners and brainier front offices but 29 MLB teams could learn from Atlanta's organizational culture. Accountability at every level
  19. Vogelbach should pinch hit for Guerrero
  20. Don't love that play when we're counting outs but Turner clearly knows what he's doing.
  21. Anthopoulos was renowned at the time for drafting hard throwing right handed prep/college arms. I'm not sure why people don't want to say it after all these years.
  22. You can go ahead and tell me which organizations drafted more top pitching prospects than Anthopoulos during the same timeframe.
  23. I'll address what I can here quickly. Anthopoulos was well-regarded for his drafting ability beginning in his Toronto days. He said himself that he would use this advantage to acquire premium talent without exposing himself to overbidding in free agency. There are many publicly available articles online written about his strategy. It's pretty much mainstream accepted that Anthopoulos was good at drafting and restocking a depleted farm system (often caused by his own trades) while he was in Toronto. Here's some info. I know it's not a 1:1 comparison and we're talking about pitching draftees specifically but it's what I could find quickly. You can do your own research if you want. 2011-2017 2014-2023
  24. Atkins has had several more years to develop a staff and has achieved nothing except Manoah. Anthopoulos built entire playoff runs with pitching prospects he either developed or traded for premium talent. Norris, Syndergaard, Hoffman, Boyd, Castro, Nicolino, Graveman the list goes on and on.
