  1. Kiner Falefa for 2 IP let's go
  2. Schneider gonna empty the pen down 4.
  3. Kirk is so valuable behind the plate that he just needs to hit around league average to justify a spot. Kirk with roboumps is DFA material.
  4. It's very possible that he was holding back to focus on length.
  5. Because it applies mean aggregated data to a unique scenario. Using in-game data (performance, velo, whatever) correctly can allow you to outperform your expected value. Using aggregated data (lifetime performance against LHH or whatever) and ignoring in-game data would would do the exact opposite. I'm not explaining well, but it's the same reason a good poker player can make more money than the expected value dictated by his dealt cards. A poker player who follows 100% textbook strategy without using any additional information should earn his expected value over a large number of trials.
  6. Baltimore had the best bullpen in baseball last year. They are an elite baserunning team as you mentioned. They don't micromanage SP matchups like the Rays and Blue Jays do. All of these factors contribute to outperforming your Pythagorean record.
  7. An IL stint is officially MLB status, whereas getting optioned at the end of spring training is not. Just saying.
  8. It's not just performance. Vlad needs to consistently demonstrate maturity, work ethic, and leadership over the next two years to justify a high-risk investment. Handing an unearned contract to a lazy headcase is a recipe for disaster, examples from the past are too many to count.
  9. Be thankful for whatever production he provides this year then cut all ties. Even if he has a big year cut all ties. Vlad hasn't demonstrated the makeup required to justify a large investment contract
  10. I don't like this move at all. The splitter is purely a whiff pitch that works when you have fastball command, which Nate doesn't have. I'm sure this sounds old school but wild pitchers need to learn to repeat their delivery to develop command, not tinker with 5 pitches looking for the tiniest of advantages. The guy has like 75 IP in his entire career with garbage command. If I'm Whiskey Pete, I tell Pearson to just spam fastball and one breaking ball. Probably curveball because it has less tilt than the slider so easier to control. If he learns to flip the curveball for a strike just once per AB hitters will be overmatched by the fastball. I really don't like how the team develops pitchers.
  11. Pedro threw 99 without performance-enhancing fat. How much harder would he throw if he were obese? 105?
  12. Greg Maddux should've eaten hot dogs like Kirk. He would have thrown 99+ and gone down as the greatest pitcher of all time.
  13. This happens once every couple of seasons. The front office gets tunnel vision on a marginal guy with a profile that they like and they essentially fall over themselves to get him. Remember when we were chasing Jay Bruce for years? Before that it was Morales. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
  14. Huge surplus potential on this deal. Kansas City is guaranteed 7 years of control at $18M AAV which is less than what Guerrero will make this year in arbitration. These are the kinds of risks that can lead to championship teams if they allocate the surplus from this deal wisely
  15. He has never done anything like that. Maybe signing Donaldson, but that was a baseball move
  16. That is absolutely a possibility.
  17. Kirk's weight is a problem, but there's hope that he can stick at C long term. Bengie and Jose Molina caught heavy innings into their late 30s. Kirk also isn't tall, which might be even more taxing for a catcher than being obese. Combine the with the one knee catching fad and frequent DH days and Kirk might be okay. Losing weight will only help him.
  18. Shapiro looks like Robocop when he takes off his helmet
  19. Merrifield to set the table Schneider for power
  20. Schneider is quite bad about pulling the trusted guys early. They basically target 100 pitches every start regardless of results.
  21. Romano 100% gonna light up some darts tonight
  22. Alright let's just block each other and be done with it. This is the last we'll hear from each other
  23. You sound pretty agitated is everything okay?
  24. okay let's just disagree
