  1. How does our bench stack up? Pennington, Navarro, Hague....?
  2. Been away in Killarney in the middle of nowhere for a week. Have I missed anything?
  3. Much appreciated. I am concerned though, given that he is owed $20m for the next 5 years and $14m after that and now has a full no trade clause. Don't get me wrong, I love Tulo and would much rather have him over Reyes, but that's a big financial and injury gamble to take for one player.
  4. Also, very concerned about this: "Tulowitzki will pick up a $2MM assignment bonus and a full no-trade clause by virtue of being dealt."
  5. Anyone else remotely concerned about Tulowitzki on artificial turf?
  6. Brilliant quote from BB Banter "Many optimistic fans are still hoping for Dickey to turn it around, but right now the trade with the Mets looks like swapping Enron for Netflix and Amazon." Now my sig. for a bit.
  7. 2010: 85-77, 4th in division, $86m payroll 2011: 81-81, 4th in division, $76m payroll 2012: 73-89, 4th in division, $103m payroll 2013: 74-88, 5th in division, $127m payroll 2014: 83-79, 3rd in division, $137m payroll 2015: 45-46, 4th in division, $127m payroll Bye AA.
  8. I look at many games this season and think trading for pitching help would be pointless; then you see games like this one and you think 'how can we waste an offense as good as this?' Incredible.
  9. Truthfully I believe the organization has come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 years in terms of drafting and developing prospects and raising the payroll to a competitive level. What has hurt us continually since the arrival of AA/Beeston has been a spate of truly awful trades and I'm not just talking about the Marlins and Mets.
  10. Please don't forget about Wuilmer Becerra who was also in that trada and is now a highly touted prospect for the Mets. Here are his stats: http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=610141#/career/R/hitting/2015/ALL Additionally the J.A. Happ trade has the potential to be another long-term disaster depending on the development of Woj, Musgrave and Pérez, although Pérez is now with the Angels.
  11. Nice spot sir; another good pitching prosepct needlessly given away I wonder?
  12. I could mention that America kept slavery going for decades after Britain abolished it, that the underground railroad led to Canada and that Britain was instrumental in fighting slavery internationally through it's navy, but honestly why bother? You clearly know little to nothing about history.
  13. In a nutshell; American revolutionaries were in reality traitors who disloyally turned their back on Britain and violently forced those loyal to the crown into Canada. They then directly attempted to invade Canada twice and failed and then covertly supported the Fenian raids into Canada. Making the only Canadian team wear American patches is thus a gross insult to Canada's history and integrity IMO. Of course some of this is slightly tongue-in-cheek.
  14. Don't f***ing care. They should; Canada didn't turn traitor.
  15. BTW f*** MLB for forcing the Jays to wear American f***ing patches on their arms. f*** you USA, bunch of f***ing disloyal ingrates. Rant over.
  16. Apologies if anyone already posted this: I know this is somewhat old news but I just ran across this article: http://astros411.sportsblog.com/posts/2728975/asher-wojciechowski---5-0--3-54--astros-411-milb--pitcher-of-the-week-.html Go figure. Also this: http://www.elpasotimes.com/sports/ci_28432034/astros-regular-rehab-assignment-dooms-chihuahuas-9-5 Woj pitched averagely in his last start, but Marisnick effectively won the game for the Astros affiliate.
  17. You are all misunderstanding me. Given the flaws on this team that are obvious to everyone (even AA) at this point, it's truly astounding to me that we are still legitimate contenders to make the post-season. I'm not saying this team has the overall quality to win even a wild card game however.
  18. Amazingly, we are still only a game out of the wc and 2 from the division lead.
  19. http://www.fastenupyourseatbelts.com/apocalyseNow/Images/Beginning/2_thisIsTheEnd.jpg
  20. The trade was and still is a trainwreck unfortunately. Aside from Buehrle JJ was a bust as was Bonifacio, Reyes is now a payroll millstone around our necks and John Buck was just John Buck. In return the Marlins got Nicolino, Marisnick, DeSclafani, Alvarez, Hechavarria, Mathis and Escobar, every one of them with either the potential to be or has already become an established major leaguer. My only consolation is that the Marlins have completely mishandled Nicolino, DeSclafani is now pitching fairly well for the Reds and Marisnick is a useful piece for the Astros.
  21. "He went like one that hath been stunned, And is of sense forlorn: A sadder and a wiser man He rose the morrow morn."
  22. Someone who really likes the Josh Donaldson trade......for the A's: http://swinginas.com/2015/06/21/oakland-athletics-kendall-graveman-is-future-star/ Hmmmmmm.......
  23. This, although the argument that a $126m payroll should be enough to build a winner has merit. Here are the payrolls of the league leaders in the AL: >TB with $76m >KC with $113m >Houston with $72.5m [Wild cards - Minnesota $108m and the Yankees $218m in the 2 spots, followed by Texas $142m, Baltimore $119m] So only 2 teams in the top 7 spots have a larger payroll than Toronto. The difference in fact is more pronounced in the NL: >Washington $162m >St. Louis $122m >LA Dodgers $271m [Wild Card - Pittsburgh $90m, Cubs $120m, followed by SF $173m and the Mets at $101m] Here 3 teams have a higher payroll and 2 have comparable wage bills.
