  1. The Kazmir/Samardzija is one to watch for sure, even though they both pitch for poorer teams. I think the best games today from a purely neutral perspective should be KC vs NYY in their rubber match and Tigers vs Cardinals at 8pm. Damn I love baseball, even if the Blue Jays drive you to the sauce regularly!
  2. Really looking forward to today's baseball: Alvarez, Syndergaard and DeSclafani all pitching at 1pm! On another note, rumour has it that Sean Nolin is next in line for a call up to the A's after being optioned to AAA and continuing his rehab. One to look out for certainly. Finally, although this may belong in the minor league thread (and apologies if that's true), Kendall Graveman is pitching today against the Marlins "top prospect" Justin Nicolino when the Nashville Sounds face the NO Zephyrs at 2:05pm.
  3. Quick update: we are only second worst in runs allowed, as the Mets scored 14 on the Brewers yesterday. We are still second worst in ERA and runs allowed and worst in walks allowed. On a more positive note we are only 3rd worst in WHIP and home runs allowed.
  4. Well that died in a hurry. Funny I seem to remember saying that yesterday....
  5. The Rockies. We are now officially worse than the Red Sox and we have conceded more runs than anybody else in baseball.
  6. To give just one example, there was a huge debate on this forum on the necessity of having an 'ace' on the staff and for the Front Office to sign a high quality free agent starter to lead the rotation. Many on here argued that we didn't need a Shields, Scherzer etc. and those who suggested otherwise were pretty much burned at the stake. Some even went so far as to suggest there was no such thing as an 'ace' and anybody who believed in such a thing was a dinosauric imbecile.

  8. Cueto would solve all our problems. Provided they traded us Chapman, Leake, DeSclafani and Votto as well.
  9. Please Rogers no; don't allow the Front Office another opportunity to gut what's left of our farm system.
  10. I appreciate that my views could be interpreted that way, but in all honesty I was not convinced of the trade from day one. Saunders record of injuries and the fans view of him in Seattle (a good player when healthy, but not very often healthy) gave me pause for concern about this trade from the beginning. It was really the hardcore stats guys on here who drooled over his WAR potential. In retrospect of course the loss of Stroman, the trading of Graveman and Nolin and the utter inability of the Front Office to address the SP/Bullpen in the offseason makes this trade look even worse.
  11. No, no they didn't and many on here saw the problems inherent in trading for an oft-injured outfielder. I wasn't and he would look better in our rotation right now than Estrada. I-I...Words fail me.
  12. Owners of the longest playoff drought not just in baseball but in all major league sports? No, no they certainly don't.
  13. This team has never won. Ever. 247-276 since 2012, highest place 3rd in the division. This team was a flawed experiment and we have ample evidence to prove this.
  14. He's certainly doing well so far: 3-1, 2.98 ERA, 3.35 FIP, 3.58 xFIP and 0.9 WAR. The Lind and Happ trades. Oy.
  15. Well, it was all worth it according to Andrew Stoeten: http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/mlb/toronto-blue-jays-trade-for-r-a-dickey-made-sense-no-matter-how-good-noah-syndergaard-turns-out-to-be
  16. Gose having a good night for the Tigers: 3-5 with a triple and an RBI. BA is up to .361!
  17. Well that died in a hurry.
  18. f*** me, 3 runs! Can we make this a game?
  19. Run Bautistsa, run! Get the first base coach to fix your hair though....
  20. Run Colabello, run! Most entertainment we've had all night.
  21. At least Gibby's keeping him out there. Pitch him until his arm falls off; this one's over anyway.
  22. We had it and we threw it all away e.g. Alvarez, Nicolino, Syndergaard, DeSclafani etc. etc. http://www.fishstripes.com/2015/4/29/8509273/miami-marlins-justin-nicolino-promotion-rumors
  23. Somebody, please, for the love of God stop those 'one nation' commercials unless they are referring to the future Montreal team.
  24. So Keuchel = Ace, Dickey = a never was.
