  1. Ah the world we now live in - where major announcements are made by updating your status on Twitter and Facebook (Facebook if you're old)
  2. This is what I do. To be honest, before our run in 2015, almost like clockwork my season looked like this: April - May: Watch a lot of Jays games and baseball in general. I love a new season - curious to see how new young players look and how teams are developing. June - July: Summer is busy, watch fewer games, listen to more on radio while doing other activities, follow box scores. August - September: Jays are out of it, take a break from baseball to re-energize myself for the playoffs. October: Glued to the TV. Playoff baseball is amazing no matter who's playing. I broke the mold in 2015 and 2016 (which were F'ing amazing), but I'm not back to the routine described above....and with 3 kids now, I'm already in August/September mode to be honest...most of my nights are spent watching junior and senior rookie baseball (god bless the pitching machine).
  3. That's what I read too. He's a backup plan if anything goes wrong in the Groshans/Kloffenstein package deal. A smart move by Shatkins. Do we expect Groshans to sign for $1M underslot?
  4. This explains why Asia has moved ahead of the US...
  5. We offered him a better deal than he took. Seriously man.
  6. Has there been any discussion as to why OSU gave him a chance? MLB teams are obviously worried about the PR nightmare surrounding this kid - but OSU gave him a shot - seemingly with no major issues. Personally, I have no idea what the right answer is, but I am surprised that some team didn't use this as an opportunity to simply state they believe in rehabilitation and second chances and are willing to give the kid a shot. They will give him some additional help, monitor him closely and have told him they'll give him a shot - but that he has a very short leash. If he f***s up - he's gone.
  7. https://www.mlb.com/news/creativity-was-key-in-torontos-draft-strategy/c-280085920 I also saw an article on MLB.com that said that Jays had the 2nd best Day 2 in the draft.
  8. I read he tried to hit everything in the air this spring, which resulted in some big holes in his swing. It's an interesting take as it sounds like with some adjustments, he could be a steal.
  9. Jays take Nick Podkul in the 7th The Notre Dame second baseman hit .312 with a .433 on-base percentage and .525 slugging percentage this year -- leading the Fighting Irish in all three slash line categories -- while adding eight home runs and nine stolen bases in 11 tries. Podkul doesn't wow you with his tools, but he's hit in the ACC, he has a good feel for the game, and he's a solid defender.
  10. I read that he's toned down the leg kick / timing mechanism so far this year with much stronger results. I agreed with NJH - his timing / balance looks off a lot in that youtube video.
  11. Jesus - he almost fell to us in the 4th! How awesome would that have been?
  12. I don't know if I'd call you a prospects guy personally...
  13. You mean like Wright, OG, Poeltl and Siakam?????
  14. Gilbert sounds a lot like T.J. Zeuch to me.
  15. Based on the 'future' core of Vlad, Bo, Alford, Gurriel, Jansen, Pearson, Zeuch, Borucki, Stro, etc. - do you guys subscribe to the theory that we should target a collegiate player so they can "arrive" at about the same time as this core? (v. selecting a HS player who's going to be 5 or 6 years away)
  16. https://www.mlb.com/news/mock-draft-for-first-round-of-2018-mlb-draft/c-279699234 I like this mock. Callis has us with Swaggerty, while both Callis and Mayo have Kelenic going #13 to the Marlins. Sign me up for Swaggs or Kelenic all day long.
  17. WTF man - nobody cares. Move on.
  18. What the F else could he be doing???
  19. um...there is a rule to eliminate this? Boxy - you think this s*** is OK?
  20. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/ben-wagner-on-replacing-a-legend-in-the-blue-jays-radio-booth/ article on Wagner taking over for Jerry. I think Wagner and Wilner have done a great job fwiw.
  21. What f***ing piece of s***. I hope unthinkable things happen to him.
