  1. I too would elect to shut down any segment with Kevin Barker.
  2. I mean - f*** Keith Law, but I thought everyone's said Kevin Smith is a stud defensively. When he says Kevin Smith isn't a long-term SS "at all" is that because he doesn't think he'll hit enough to be a regular?
  3. Why's that? No need to take it slow because he's driving now!
  4. Johnny Mac posted 1.0 WAR in 2007 when his wRC+ was 59. That's pretty f***ing impressive.
  5. I read a bar in Baltimore is giving away free shots to customers every time Chris Davis gets a hit.
  6. All I'm saying is that if you're in a s***** position and want to get out of it, there are always going to be options/temptations to take the faster/easier way out (cheat, steal, etc.) - all of which create moral dilemmas and negative side efforts, or you have the option to do it the hard and honest way and work your ass off. Perhaps I'm over simplifying this as the DR players do both (take PEDs and work their ass off). But a DR player can work harder at being a better baseball player. More training, learn other languages, educate himself on the game and how to better transition to baseball in NA, etc. I refuse to believe that DR people have no choice, so just let them do PEDs, or that people in the getto have no other choice, let them steal and sell drugs. There's always choice. The honest way may take longer and have a bigger chance of failure, but it's still a choice.
  7. Javy Baez is a career 92 wRC+ hitter. But he's good defensively at multiple positions (great at some) and is a good base runner - which is where he gets most of his value from. From the reports I've read, Gurriel isn't good defensively at multiple positions and thus is going to need to be a better hitter than Baez to be an MLB utility player (and a much better hitter to be a starting player). Gurriel's going to need to get his K% down to the low teens if he's going to keep his BB% below 5%.
  8. Maybe, but he's also missed almost full year and a half of development between coming over and being hurt last year. The best idea is to work on it in the offseason, but if they want him to change his approach, it's significantly easier to do that in the minors. The pressure to succeed at the ML level is too intense.
  9. That doesn't make cheating 'right' Do we just accept that those less fortunate are going to steal and cheat to get out of the cycle? Should they instead worker harder and become educated instead (even if that means a higher % of them fail)? Should we give them more help/aid to narrow the gap? (I'd say yes if they are the latter, no if they are the former). It's a great debate.
  10. I agree, but he does explain it in the comments below. Simply saying that SRF and Reese are working to rebuild their prospect status so they can be part of the future.
  11. I disagree. 2018 is over for the Jays. Gurriel should be in the minors working on some semblance of plate discipline. We all know 20 K% with 2 BB% isn't going to lead to success at the ML level.
  12. Interesting debate. It's like saying those in the getto shouldn't steal and deal drugs. I understand why they do it, but I'm not sure we should condone what they are doing either. The counter argument is that instead of cheating, they could simply work harder.
  13. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-blue-jays-should-plan-for-2020/ 2020 it is.
  14. Noda with another bomb.
  15. jokes on you - I didn't vote.
  16. Oh. Meh.
  17. Radio scouts - as in we scout prospects without seeing them? Is that the reference?
  18. When do you think he'd be due for a promotion?
  19. His BABIP is back up where it was in MAR/APR. My big concern is he went from a 10.1 BB%, 21.7 K% in MAR/APR to a 2.3 BB%, 25.6 K% in JUN (and basically the same in April). That s*** doesn't seem sustainable.
  20. Fisher Cats with a 1 hit shutout. We got the good Jon Harris tonight. f*** that guy has been so inconsistent and disappointing. Put it together man. Hiraldo continues to hit as advertised.
  21. Awesome. I'm pretty open man. We love our beer, we love a good burger place, we love a good steakhouse, we love a great Indian/Thai place. Basically looking for non-chain restaurants that make kick ass food. I ran into some Philly guys at spring training and they recommended the Havre de Grace area for golf between Philly and Baltimore (I think I looked up Bulle Rock Golf Course). We probably don't have a lot of spare time in Philly, but if there's a couple must sees - then hit me with it and we'll see if we can squeeze it in.
  22. wRC+ up to 115. He's historically been a slow starter. Maybe now that he dumped that crazy beech - he's back to raking.
