  1. I have no problem with what Bauer is doing. He's one of the most interesting people in baseball and drawing attention to himself promotes baseball. People always bitch that MLB doesn't market the game well and because of that, it's fallen behind football and basketball. Then when someone is out there drawing attention to baseball - we act like it's 1984 and want him to be quiet. This guy has studied the art of pitching and has been one of the pioneers of change in the ability to get every ouch of production from the talent you have. He was ahead of the game when he first broke in and Arizona traded him because they were way behind his own knowledge and didn't like it.
  2. Bauer is smart - as the opt-outs allow him to hedge his bet. If he's awesome, he re-enters the market, if he sucks, he doesn't opt out and still gets his $100M.
  3. Buying out their arbitration years doesn't mean we start giving them $25M a year in day 1. I don't think signing our studs to extensions now wouldn't have a huge impact on the payroll for the next few years.
  4. I think the Jays should be all over a deal like this. I think this is perfect timing for the Jays to do something like this and have no problem giving him an AAV of $35M to $40M for a couple of years before our own home grown talent needs an extension.
  5. Funny thing is Semien probably doesn't bat early in the order...that's how deep we are.
  6. Odorizzi may also have the highest upside. For me, he's the clear choice. Odorizzi > Paxton >> Walker
  7. It is interesting that Osuna and Giles, who were the 3rd and 6th best relief pitchers in baseball between 2015 and 2019 both remain without a job. I know both are hurt and possibly unable to contribute in 2021, but you'd think someone would hand them a 2 year deal to help the 2022 team (ala Pineda, Kahnle, etc.)
  8. Sandy Rosario deserves a raise....
  9. The King has hit rock bottom. He must really love baseball still.
  10. agreed, but it's a nice deal for the Brewers. Wong is a solid player.
  11. I'm going to assume he means Marquez.
  12. Her picture is officially listed on the wikipedia website under "digger, gold" I think she meant she was 25 when she started having plastic surgery. She gets asked that more than how old she is.
  13. He is. I think that's also why Boucher's minutes got cut in half. FVV, Boucher, Stanley Johnson, Yuta, T.Davis - the Raps are consistently able to find no-name players (yes Johnson was a top 10 pick - but he'd previously sucked) and develop them into legit players. If nothing else, that's fun to watch.
  14. you need to let this one go. The FO knows what they are doing.
  15. Projections. Steamers has Vlad projected as the 9th best hitter in baseball this year. History suggests batters who were 15% above league average at the age of 21 become beasts at the plate. Will Vlad? I don't know - projections obviously aren't always right. But that's why you'll see many pencil him into the cleanup spot (for the next 10 years I hope).
  16. Well duh - I love that website. Tellez's page has lots of those beautiful red circles on it. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/rowdy-tellez-642133?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  17. I don't really know what Salvant Hitting Metrics are - but I like that they said Tellez's were great, if not elite last year. How amazing would it be if Tellez's results from 2020 were sustainable?
  18. You shut your whore mouth. Cooperstown is incredible - even if there are debates about who got in, or who should get in (and at the end of the day, that gives people a reason to talk about baseball, which is a good thing). That said - if they could incorporate what your suggesting into Cooperstown - then sure.
  19. I wonder if it's time to try him in the pen. If his fastball plays up, he could be an Andrew Miller type with that slider.
  20. and Longoria?
  21. yeah that's fair - I was drawing a complete blank on anyone who left Colorado and maintained his production....not many have. Holliday did and DJLH somehow went from league average to one of the best hitters in baseball.
