    Actually some tidy work by the White Sox. Signed Fedde from the KBO and cash in by trading him for a handful of prospects.

    You said "RIght now Juan Soto is on track to out-war Vlad 10-3, but their traditional stats may end up in the same ballpark." Given the WAR values, I assumed you meant for this season...in which case, Vlad's traditional stats aren't very close to Soto's.

    Couple of thoughts. I think people understood that Teo had 4 WAR upside. He always had big time tools, it was just a matter of whether he could unlock them at the ML level. I think Derek Fisher had the same type of upside. He had great exit velo, sprint speed, etc. He had all the tools, but was never able to unlock and utilize them with any success in the majors. Randel Grichuk was similar, albeit his tools weren't quite as loud. Players with this profile obviously are risk/reward types. There's typically a lot of doubt whether they'll reach their potential - otherwise, the cost/value to acquire them would be sky high. At first glance, it looks like we got a few toolsy players in these recent trades. There's probably a high probability they fail, but they have some upside and as you say, you only need 1 of those lottery tickets to "hit" really.

    No offense man, but this is a stretch. Soto's traditional stats are WAY ahead of Vlad - so are his advanced stats. They aren't in the same area code this year, which is reflective in their wRC+, WAR, etc.

    If the trade was leaked and seen on TV before it was officially then that's the end of this story. You want the Jays to call the clubhouse and give Jansen the heads up that they are closing in on a deal to move him - before it's even a done deal and/or official? Even if they've already had previous discussions with him to inform him of their intent to trade him? That's f***ing stupid. People hate the FO, which is fine, but you can't hold this against them.

    The point is that even great front offices have very little control over injuries to their players. Thus, blaming the FO and suggesting they should all be fired because there are a lot of guys injured right now is....stupid. holy f***

    Perhaps. I don't pretend to know all those prospect in depth. Maybe Atkins is a f***ing useless douchenozzle who can't do anything right. Or maybe not - maybe he canvased all the buyers and that was the market value for Garcia for various reasons.

    2022 2nd round pick out of high school. 20 year old in A+ ball with a 118 wRC+ seems like a solid pickup for an expiring contract who hasn't hit in months.

    My bad - I thought he was traded for cash or a PTBNL or something. I should have checked. Point still stands. Teams find talent in many different places and sometimes the 'turds' they add aren't actually 'turds'.

    I don't really understand this rhetoric that we got "turds" in return. You really have no idea. Remember when we traded for Ernie Clement? I think it was universally believed we got "nothing" in return. Now Ernie has given us 1.2 WAR in 275 PA's and looks like a very solid utility player for the big league club.

    He's been working on a 2 seam fastball... primary because his 4 seam fastball is complete ass (despite velo). He's literally just trying to find another fastball to replace his current useless one.

Did you guys hear Crochet is demanding an extension for him to pitch in October? Never heard of that before. Can a player actually just refuse to play in the playoffs??? Also the first I've read about a "cover 2 defense" and suppressing doubles.

    This is probably a reason to seriously consider moving Vlad to Seattle right now. Dipoto is all over the place and their farm system is one of the best.
