  1. 1st - Harris has been awful and continues to decline after a great rookie season. 2nd - that will mean Soler becomes a bench player? They can't start 2 DH's. Soler is starting RF tonight for the first time all year. Are the Braves going to decline Ozuna's $16M 2025 club option? Seems odd after the season he's had. They'll now have Soler until the end of 2026. Can't see them carrying both Ozuna and Soler next year. Odd move by AA and the Braves IMO. Pure desperation from a team that was the best offense in baseball by a MILE last year, which is now 21st in runs scored and 18th in wRC+ Very reminiscent of the Blue Jays over the past couple of years. Better fire those coaches! They must be telling the players to hit differently.
  2. Is Atlanta going to play either Soler or Ozuna in the outfield now? I'm confused.
  3. Perfect - just in time to trade him to the O's for a haul of prospects! I still can't believe what they gave up for Rogers.
  4. Is it? I mean a lot of these deals remind me of the McKinney/Drury/Espinal/Merryweather type trades. You think Bloss and Loperfido are better than SWR/Kay? Most of them won't produce anything. You're just hoping that 1 or 2 of them become what Teo and Espinal became for the Jays. I mean obviously we hope one of those becomes the Yordan for Josh Fields trade, but that s*** is all mostly luck anyway.
  5. Baseball America ranked every prospect (89) moved at the deadline. Bloss was 3rd, Loperfido was 11th I believe. Jay Harry was 89th
  6. Yeah - I think that's a possibility. I'm just worried about the value of the players they'll end up letting walk if they are actually "going for it" next year. It's a pretty long list. That said, former baseball executive, David Samson was on the Blair/Barker show this evening did say "I'll tell you this, everyone is after this - you want the ring and the way you get the ring, is A - you've got to get to October, but then you've got to get lucky." This reinforces my belief in that. The playoffs are a coin flip most of the time. He also said what I believe is true. "The best currency in baseball is overperforming young players (who aren't getting paid yet). It's what you need to win."
  7. I'm still somewhat optimistic about his bat. Lots of catchers struggle with the bat early on while they are mastering the catching position. This guy hit at every level, including early success in the majors. I still remain hopeful there's a 100-110 wRC+ bat in there somewhere.
  8. Agreed. How much money does that take? LOL
  9. Outman and KK have the same wRC+ this season (53). That's one hell of a sophomore slump.
  10. I can't tell if you're serious...
  11. connorp's favourite GM!
  12. I think this is the right approach, although I'm doubtful we're going to have the pieces in place to win in 2026 either. We're probably unloading Bo, Gausman, Bassitt, Romano (if arm is intact) and possibly Varsho next year. Look for bounce back candidates or guys trying to rebuild value, sign them to short term deals, promise lots of playing time and then cash them over the next couple of years. Eye up 2027 and 2028 at the earliest to compete. That said, I agree with Term's post above. I think you can piece together a team that could compete for a WC spot next year. But, I worry that's just a bandaid that will set the retool/rebuild back several years if you're going to keep all those pending FA's through the end of next year and lose them for nothing.
  13. That's also a factor, but it never helps when he's not pitching well. Teams in the thick of the race can't afford to give him 4-5 starts to turn things around - that could sewer their season. They want guys who are performing NOW (like Randy Arozerena is hot).
  14. 100% The Dodgers will be easy to cheer for in October. I hope the thrill of the playoff race gives KK a little dead cat bounce. He's had a REALLY good career and is one of the best defensive CFers to ever play the game IMO. He certainly still has the ability to be a difference maker in October. I hope his body cooperates and we get to see it. I know I'll be rooting him on.
  15. His 6+ ERA over the last month or so may have tanked his value.
  16. We traded 7 guys man. Can't you just accept that they may have canvased the league, looking for good value in return for Green and it wasn't there, so they held him? If Green's pitching great next year, they can deal him then. He'd probably have more value as an expiring contract than he would with $10.5M attached to him next year. I don't get the WTF, like you're all confused about this. The Jays just has a REALLY GOOD trade deadline. It certainly seems like they know what they're doing.
  17. Some people are just never happy.
  18. One of the best value signings in recent Blue Jays history
  19. This seems like one of those "good faith" moves. KK says he retiring at the end of the year. He has little to no value on the trade market (even if the Jays eat the rest of his contract), so they move him (and hopefully all of the remaining money) to the Dodgers to give him one last shot at a title. Jays get someone to "protect" the younger arms for the rest of the season. I'm good with this.
  20. Eloy to the O's
  21. This seems like a good return too doesn't it? 2023 6th round pick. Great start in A ball last year (like really great in a SSS). Has struggled at A+ ball this year, but it's only his age 21 season. Good lottery pick for a JAG relief pitcher.
  22. You're expecting more in return for what several complained was a horrible FA signing? That's bizarre...this seems like a great trade for the Jays and should get them under the luxury tax threshold.
  23. Should we call and see if the O's want Manoah? LOL
  24. What does Baltimore see in Rogers? Great in 2021, but it's been all downhill since. Velo down over 2 MPH, K% down, BB% up, injury concerns.
  25. I think I would have assumed she was going to brush her teeth after sucking me off. No need to brush twice. Otherwise, she's a monster for eating a donut and then going to sleep without brushing.
