    Other Jays news I haven't seen yet (and some ex Blue Jays news) Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins told reporters Tuesday that Bo Bichette (finger) is on track to be ready for Opening Day. Alek Manoah (elbow) has started a throwing program. Manoah underwent Tommy John surgery back in June and is expected to miss a significant portion, if not all, of next season. There’s a chance he’s ready to return at some point in the late stages of the 2025 campaign, but that’s up in the air at the moment. The 26-year-old former ace seems like a bit of a long shot to be fantasy-relevant at any point in the future. Royals signed INF Jordan Groshans to a minor league contract.

    Agreed. He's the only guy I'd be concerned about losing. 121 wRC+ at age 18 in A ball with legit SS defense is pretty sexy. He's probably the one keeper in the system. I'll also see your FTJ and raise you a Yordan oops from the Dodgers.

    I suspect he falls under the typical issue....he can't hit. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/hye-seong-kim/kr3012639/stats?position=2B/SS A 118 wRC+ with an ISO of .132 in the KBO typically means he'll hit like Ryan Goins in the majors doesn't it? I mean if he's Ozzie Smith defensively, that could work I guess. For comparison, Ha-Seong Kim had a 141 wRC+ and a .218 ISO in his last year in the KBO and his a career 101 wRC+, .380 SLG% hitter in the majors.

    Fair enough. Would you hesitate to trade anyone in our Top 10? I mean I could see an argument to keep Bloss (and maybe Yesavage) as we need SPing depth in AAA, but otherwise - anyone you would be pissed to see moved? I guess losing Nimmala might sting, as he has big upside as a SS, but so did Orelvis - and he's a PED using DH now.

    Almost all of them have high to extreme risk, which is probably one of the reasons our overall ranking and the perception of the team's farm is low. To be honest, I'd be really happy if even 1 of them become a ML regular. Given our recent luck (or s***** coaching I guess) - half them will probably be out of baseball in a couple of years. Despite those BA grades, our farm blows. I wouldn't hesitate to move ANY of those players - especially if other teams see them as 50+ FV prospects.

    I saw someone selling a framed, 1989 O-Pee-Chee hockey sheet that was uncut. Something you'd put on the wall as art. Had the Joe Sakic rookie card in it. They want $600. I thought it was pretty cool and nostalgic. I will say the card industry seems to have made some good decisions to make these unique cards that are super rare. It's created a buzz unlike anything we'd seen in probably 30 years.

    I've never had them rated or anything, but I do have several in mint condition. I mean who wouldn't want an Eddie Belfour rookie card in 2087?

    Is now the time for me to unload the 40 Frank Thomas and Eddie Belfour rookie cards I've been holding onto since I was a kid? Or are those babies going to be worth a fortune when my kids pass then down to their kids?

    I agree with all of this. The game is so much better. The changes to the way starting pitching is used has been difficult for most. Someone blamed TB for this, but it was inevitable that given the money to be made that there would be big improvements in terms of talent on both the pitching and hitting side of things. I've never been a fan of building through free agency anyway. The prices this year are going to make things more difficult for a desperate FO.

    I personally don't mind the cat and mouse games involved in the MLB offseason. Every other league has caps and such. The cost of players is super predictable and it's all over within 48 hours. In MLB, you just never know what the market is going to be year to year. One year, guys like Matt Boyd are going to be available for 1 year, $7M and the next year, he's getting 2 years $29M. It certainly makes the job more difficult for GM's.

    None of this is really true. He has a very unique skill - but it's his only skill. Hitting .314 (.346 OBP) with no power and no walks simply isn't that valuable - and it never really has been. Ichiro was never the best hitter in baseball, nor was Tony Gwynn. I fully expect if you told elite hitters like Betts, Vlad, etc. to give up ALL their power and just slap that ball around, they could do it just as well as Arraez can, but they have the ability to do a lot more and be much more valuable to their teams. That said, Arraez's bat has been more potent in the previous 2 years (130 wRC+) and that's reflected in higher WAR's. He's a very polarizing and interesting player with 2 more years of control.

    I agree with this mentality. There's certainly a possibility Matz could give us 2 WAR at a good cost.

    Quantrill's old man was a solid RPer. It would be awesome to see Cal transition to the pen and carve out a meaningful role there like his dad.

    Seems like a very big commitment to a secondary piece. The positions he plays and versatility he brings is big for the Dodgers right now, but it may not be 2-3 years from now. If he doesn't catch fire in the playoffs, I can't imagine he gets a deal like this. Sometimes things just break your way!

    Man - last night was glorious. My wife left with my son for a hockey tournament in Detroit - leaving me home alone. Once I got everything in order around the house and my other sons, I hit the hot tub, smoked a joint and sat down to watch the Packers absolutely dominate the Fins. Having bet my Fin loving co-worker $20 - it really couldn't have been a better night. Love is looking healthy again and taking care of the ball. Jacobs is a f***ing beast and guys keep stepping up on defense. Love it.

    Wow - swing and a miss! What a pickup by the Packers. Evan Williams, a projected 6th rounder is playing like a 1st rounder and is already one of the best safety's in football. Love it. Goes to show you how flawed the public ranking systems (and team scouting?) are.

    That's just because a lot of people are easily fooled and can't comprehend what's really happening. We just saw a very good example of this. People who take the time to understand the deals don't think Ohtani got $700M - we know he got the equivalent of $460M.
