  1. Lindor deserves a lot of credit. His bat was trending down and it looked like he was in danger of becoming guy who relied a lot of his defense for value - something we know typically declines in the early 30's. After a rough first year in NY, he's now produced 3 incredible seasons and is well on his way to becoming a HOF player and a NY Mets legend.
  2. I missed this - why was the final Houston/Cleveland game cancelled? Was it rained out? Feel bad for JRam not getting his shot at 40/40.
  3. I'm not sure I agree. Shapiro can fire Atkins and try another GM. It's not like that would be abnormal. Would you like to see them fire Shapiro now, replace most of the staff and start the rebuild? Do you think that's the best direction for the franchise? Do you think that would impact our ability to resign Vlad (and/or Bo)?
  4. Elaborate. If he signs for 12 years $500M - would you suggest Atkins f***ed up by not signing him to that deal?
  5. This is the Around Baseball thread and the guy just wanted to give props to the Braves and AA for battling through a difficult season. And of course you have to pull it back to your hate for Atkins eh? Are you OK?
  6. That's great news. Incoming Horwitz 150 wRC+ season.
  7. Man - Derrick Henry looks rejuvenated. Just a beast in that offense.
  8. And of course....we have a pitching duel. That's baseball for you.
  9. Kudos to him. He's shoving so far in the biggest game of his live. Love seeing stuff like that.
  10. For sure they have a package that could land Bo this offseason.
  11. I'm not interested in this debate. There's no debate. The Braves rotation was incredibly lucky this year. Seek help if you can't see that. You aren't making a lot of sense recently and are getting called out left, right and center man. Regroup for the playoffs please.
  12. Everyone did. That's why multiple people opined that your logic was stupid.
  13. What a disaster for Atlanta - they don't have any starter available? Crazier things have happened though. Wouldn't rule them out at all as they'll likely be facing the Mets B squad.
  14. They actually don't have a ton of depth (which is evident by the fact they are starting Grant Holmes in a MUST WIN game). They got 177 innings from Chris Sale, 134 innings from a 1st year converted RP in Lopez, 113 innings from a guy who started the year in A+ ball and 165 innings from a 56 year old Charlie Morton. Elder, Winans, Vines, Waldrep, etc. were all pretty useless to them. You don't have to squint very hard to see the Braves rotation was pretty lucky this season to be where they are. I mean - it worked, but the probability of this happening were probably <5%. Even you should be able to see that.
  15. About as well as the 2023 WS Champs... I think I'd actually rather see the DBacks get the last WS spot over the Braves (even though I do love the Braves). Big time offense - I'd rather watch them over the beat up Braves (kudos for them to get this far). I could see the DBacks get hot again and go on a playoff tear.
  16. 100% they should and probably will. What a f***ing game. Bring on the playoffs man - that is incredible. Would you guys rather see the DBacks or the Braves in the playoffs?
  17. This should be expected. Almost anytime a team loses a big game, there are going to be a cohort of fans losing their minds with incoherent opinions. I mean - just go back and look at the GDT's on this board. It happens almost daily.
  18. I'm obviously being facetious. You can't point to 2024 numbers to judge a 2023 trade of an impending FA. And even if you did - it would still generally be viewed as a lateral move. Re-hashing this trade following the 2024 season is as dumb as suggesting we never should have traded Grichuk because he hit well this year.
  19. I'm sorry man, but you really have no idea if any of this is true. You have no idea who helped fix Vlad (or who broke him in the first place). You're also seemingly ignoring the fact that pitchers adjust after they have a couple of months worth of data on a hitter. We get a 127 wRC+ season from a 26 year old Horwitz and you're suggesting the coaching staff is to blame because he didn't post a 150 wRC+? C'mon.
  20. #1 offense to boot. 27th in team ERA though...
  21. Grichuk just posted a career high wRC+ too - never should have traded him either. Just brilliant!
  22. I mean - that's not how the playoffs really work, but I get it. Would you rather we didn't make the playoffs? You want to see them rebuild now instead? I do think a rebuild now is the best path to future success, but I've come to accept it's complicated given the reno's and the status of Shatkins and I suspect we're going to spend and try to compete in 2025. I also wonder - if we throw in the towel now and start rebuilding, what does that do to our chances of signing Vlad (and/or Bo?) to extensions. If rebuilding now means you have to trade Vlad and Bo - do you still think that's the right direction? It's an interesting debate.
  23. I'm sure LA could have had Teo for 2-3 years at a lower AAV if they wanted...I'm sure several other teams could have also. It's almost like there was some uncertainty within the league on whether Teo was declining or not. Like there was a probability he wasn't going to rebound for him poor 2023 season.
  24. What's your point or goal with this? Commenting on what he did in 2024, after he became a FA and signed with another team has nothing to do with the Seattle deal. Are you trying to suggest that if the Jays kept him 2023, he would have had as good of a season as he did this year (3.5 WAR) and that's why you think this trade was a disaster? The Jays used the money they would have paid Teo to sign KK, who gave us a 2.8 WAR season. So even if that's your point, this isn't some slam dunk, franchise altering disaster of a trade. In hindsight, sure, maybe keeping Teo was a better call, but it's not like he traded away Yordan or Tatis Jr. I mean - we get it. You hate Atkins. He does nothing right. You'll probably hate the next GM too and the guy after that. Are you back trying to dunk on those who don't think he's a Dave Stewart level GM? Does that get you off? Or are you just trying to be a troll and trigger people - which is always such a cool look.
  25. Shame he fell short.
