  1. Any insight into what was injured? Knee again? There is some documented changes in his swing - I wonder if those were related to an injury, or if he just fell into a bad habit (or bad coaching).
  2. My bad - I thought you were suggesting a lot "superstars" fall into this variable pattern.
  3. That is correct.
  4. Brilliant managing. We need a manager like Dave.
  5. It's been a painful stretch for sure. What is hilarious is that lots of teams who are winning in the playoffs right now also didn't address several of the perceived "holes" the Jays had the last 3 years. I'll repeat this - KC is starting Yuli Gurriel and Detroit is rolling with bullpen days, starting guys with negative WAR. Several teams are starting 4 or 5 guys with wRC+'s below 95. As they say - that's baseball.
  6. What a pivotal inning for Lugo there. He looked completely lost, almost as many balls as strikes. Loads the bases with 1 out and Soto/Judge coming up. Manager decides to leave him in (after pulling him in a similar situation in the WC round). He escapes, only giving up a sac fly to Soto. Is that smart managing? lucky managing? poor managing? I feel that was a situation where there is no real right answer. The manager just makes a decision and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. There's no skill to it - it's just a flip of a coin.
  7. We'd need one of them to play 3rd. We have a lot of options at 2nd.
  8. 100% I hate to say this, but this was a missed opportunity by the Jays. The AL teams f***ing blow this year and a World Series appearance was ripe for the taking. If we rolled in with our 2021 or 2022 team this year - there's a good chance we're looking at a trip to the World Series (acknowledging the playoffs are a crapshoot).
  9. f*** - I don't think I could stomach Bassitt starting a game in the playoffs for the Jays. If this somehow works for the Tigers, I hope people aren't going to applaud the Tigers GM for all the great depth and decision making he's made. Bullpen days and negative WAR starters in the playoffs is pretty crazy.
  10. Would we have still signed Springer if we landed (and extended) Lindor? I mean who knows...
  11. I can get on board with that. Those AL Central teams f***ing blow. I'm actually cool with the Yanks v. anyone who's left in the NL and I want the NL team to beat the Yanks in the finals.
  12. OK that's fair, I don't like Roberts much - but I also don't give a s*** about managers in general. The team is f***ing packed with likeable players though. I guess people are no longer jaded about PED users anymore? Is it like the NFL now where nobody cares that you're cheating?
  13. Tigers are starting Keider Montero in Game 3. It's insane how little depth and talent some of these playoff teams have. The playoffs are a total crapshoot.
  14. I disagree. Who the f*** doesn't like Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Teo, KK, Muncy, Edman, etc? It was Teo that started the barking at Machado - because that ball almost hit an unexpecting Roberts (looks like it hit the top rail) - do we not like Teo now? Machado has been a career bitch in the MLB. I don't get the newfound support for that ****.
  15. Yeah - we teach 14 year olds to do the same thing on plays like that (also if they get picked off first base). It's something almost every ball player does now. Only the low IQ players don't.
  16. You don't seem to be easily impressed...
  17. I must give some props to Manaea. I thought he was done being a legit guy. He's been very good this year. Kudos. I also love this Jose Iglesias story. What a season he's had.
  18. Jomboy Media (@jomboymedia) • Instagram reel WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 21K likes, 691 comments - jomboymedia on October 8, 2024: "Manny Machado throws a ball at the Dodgers dugout and Dodgers fans throw trash at the Padres players, a breakdown #mlb #baseball #sports #padres #dodgers #mannymachado #fernandotatisjr". There is a really good Jomboy breakdown of it, including some better views of the ball Manny threw at their dugout. It actually did have some steam on it and it looks like it hit the top railing - right in front of Roberts....if it bounced a bit higher (like 3 inches), it certainly could have hurt Roberts who's head was down (and he wouldn't have expected it). Also all the s*** with Profar is included. Fans suck.
  19. Do people like Manny? I've always thought he was a little bitch. I don't have much respect for him. He's the one who started all this s*** after Tatis got hit and then Flaherty sat his lippy ass down. I don't mind the Padres at all, but I don't like Manny.
  20. Yeah - for sure. And to be fair - I expect there to be baseball on every night during the playoffs and I don't love having them overlap as I want to watch as much as I can. I also don't want games starting while I'm at work thank you very much
  21. Yeah - it looks harmless. Although it was Teo at the top of the step who seems to initially take offense to it. Why would Manny do that though? Looks like just a warmup ball they threw around between innings? Wouldn't he typically flip that into the stands or throw it towards a ball boy? Just seems odd. At least Manny isn't throwing his bat at people like he did when he was younger.
  22. Bobby Witt has no hits yet either. Stars haven't shown up yet. As they said last night, if this happens in July - nobody even notices. The playoffs are a SSS world - you just hope you're swinging it well when it counts.
  23. You were confused when the team landed star players coming off B2B 5-6 WAR seasons - right in the middle of their competitive window? That is bizarre.
  24. Yeah - that's one of my biggest pet peeves of playoff baseball. Far too many off days. It doesn't mimic the regular season at all. The top RP's can pitch in almost every game. Depth becomes irrelevant. I guess you get to "see the best" more, but I'd rather they find a way to cut the # of off days to 1 or 2 per series. Bring back a little more strategy.
  25. Pretty impressive defensive work by Berti in his first ever start at 1st base
