  1. I mean sure - but we have 17 holes to fill. I can't imagine backup catcher is high on the priority list.
  2. I can't believe both Minny and Detroit won this week. Criminal.
  3. Yeah I saw that. Should make for a rather terrible Grey Cup with the Argos backup QB in there. I don't tune into the Grey Cup anymore, but I know it's still super popular. I'm sure it could be entertaining if you have some side bets and a rooting interest.
  4. Correct. Chet is out 8 weeks and the Thunder already had 2 big men out. Poeltl to OKC seems to make a lot of sense...the 2024/25 Raps should be TANKING...
  5. Interesting, but it's not like any new evidence was required to confirm he's a dipshit...
  6. We aren't getting Vlad long-term for Devers money. It's going to be a massive amount for an all bat, no defense, no base running, no IQ player. Like signing Manny Ramirez.
  7. So far, so good. He certainly looks like he's able to score at this level. He's the current front runner for "most improved". I've also been impressed with Barrett and Poeltl. Barrett looks like a franchise player and Poeltl very strong big. Agbaji looks like he's taken a step forward, Mogbo has looked good, Shead has shown glimpses too. All things considered, the Raps have given me a reason to at least tune in, while they deal with all these injuries. I do hope they have some pieces there. They should add a top lottery pick this year and if they "hit", they could be back on the way up faster than folks anticipate. C - Poeltl PF - Barnes SF - Barrett SG - Dick PG - IQ Bench - Agbaji, Walter, Mogbo, Shead, Mitchell "Hit" on a Top 5 pick next year and they could be cooking with oil fairly quick.
  8. Jerry's World!
  9. I mean, he's probably better than Pivetta and he's definitely better than Severino... It's like the Reds knew you were pushing for the Jays to target him and said FU jaysblue - he's ours.
  10. You mean the good free agents were offered qualifying offers? shocking!
  11. Here's the full list... Juan Soto, New York Yankees Corbin Burnes, Baltimore Alex Bregman, Houston Max Fried, Atlanta Willy Adames, Milwaukee Pete Alonso, New York Mets Anthony Santander, Baltimore Teoscar Hernández, Los Angeles Dodgers Nick Pivetta, Boston Christian Walker, Arizona Sean Manaea, New York Mets Luis Severino, New York Mets Nick Martinez, Cincinnati There are definitely some middling talent being offered a QO this year...
  12. Mets claimed INF Luis De Los Santos off waivers from the Blue Jays.
  13. Yanks have agreed to add the 1 year $36M and void his opt out...
  14. I was just reading how Torres had a 124 wRC+ in the 2nd half after making some mechanical adjustments. He was a pretty legit offensive option for them down the stretch and thru the playoffs. I saw that while reading a projection that he's going to get 5 years $90M this offseason, which made me vomit in my mouth a bit.....but I guess if true, after a 120 wRC+ season in 2023 - he might actually be rather sought after this offseason. The Yanks were 3rd in baseball in runs scored and added Jazz down the stretch. They were a legit offense.
  15. Was Joe Kelly hurt? or left off the playoff roster due to his s***** results? I see he's now a FA. He'd be a nice target if you could get him for peanuts.
  16. It's hilarious to see all these reports and now players speaking out about how awful the Yankees defense was and how they knew it would bite them in the ass at some point and how it gave LA such an advantage. Yet when our own team (built on a great offense/poor defense) fails in 2021 and 2022 - our fans s*** on the GM for trying to change the makeup of the team to address the s***** defense - like it was the WRONG thing to do. The plan itself, to sacrificing some offense for defense, was a good idea. When you combined it with the offensive collapse of Vlad (2023), Kirk, Springer, etc. - it made it look like a massive over correct that failed miserably. That said - The Yanks were a few games away from winning it all - so in our SSS playoffs - even the teams with the massive hole in the armor can still win it all.
  17. Well deserved for Varsho. Incredible year defensively.
  18. Angels trade for Scott Kingery. Man - there must be a story of what happened to this guy. He signed that pre-arb deal with the Phillies - was good in 2019 (2.1 WAR, 100 wRC+) and then fell off the face of the earth. He's coming off a 25/25 season in AAA, but it's with a 104 wRC+. I wonder if all that early money he got lead him down a dark path (drugs, booze, etc.)? I haven't heard anything - just speculating. The Phillies essentially gave up on him after the 2020 season.
  19. The media fooling people into believe something that isn't true is pretty common these days...create strong opinions like that isn't wise.
  20. Why would you say "It’s dumb. I don’t care what anyone says" then? It's all just semantics. We don't know all the reasons why they wanted the contract to be prepared that way, but it's a 10 year $460M deal. End of story.
  21. Apparently Freeman played the entire playoffs with broken rib cartilage. The legend grows.
  22. Yeah I'm not surprised by this move at all. They didn't have room for him when they traded for him. Putting Soler out in RF was a desperate move to try and inject offense into a lineup that grossly underperformed and dealt with major injuries. And it worked pretty good as Soler hit well in Atlanta. You just knew that wasn't a long term fix. It's an...interesting return for him, but we knew the Braves needed arms. It will be interesting to see what the DH bats get this offseason. 2 years $26M for Soler might end up looking like decent value. Or not.
  23. I remember reading about how when he was a kid, he had a batting cage in his basement and would hit 1,400 balls a day. His dad is a hitting instructor who is pushing the idea of "hitting perception". Alex was a top prospect at one point - just never worked out for him unfortunately.
  24. Man I love baseball. Those playoffs were incredible to watch. Big time performances, big time home runs, big time comebacks. I don't even mind the errors - it just shows you how even the best make mistakes and that sometimes the pressure of the big game gets to the best of them. Kike cements himself in Dodgers lore after getting some glasses mid-season. Buehler somehow finds himself after a terrible season. Those knuckle curves were unhittable. Props to Cole for a gutsy performance. To pitch into the 7th after that 5th inning, with a blister and thus no slider, was impressive. Huge congrats to Freddie - that's a legendary performance. Congrats to my man Teo and I love that KK retires a champion (wish he was on the roster though!). The game of baseball is just such a beautiful thing - especially the playoffs. It was nice to just watch it as a baseball fan, with no true rooting interest. Without all the negativity, second guessing, bitching, etc. that we all far too often add to the Blue Jays games.
  25. Good for him man. Despite all the injuries, he found a way to play a huge part in a couple of World Series victories. He was effective right up until the end and he walks away as a champion. That's a nice way to go.
