  1. Why did they even bother pitching to Springer there? and that throw.... lol
  2. I think Vlad and his team knew they had all the power in those conversations because Rogers was so invested in the city's sports and wouldn't want to be known as the richest owners who couldn't lock up their homegrown talent. Also, it's Rogers. Who wouldn't try to milk them for every last penny?
  3. Wow I didn't realize it was that bad. I saw the headline of Yesavage walked 6 in debut but never thought it was a game like this.
  4. There's honestly no point in worrying about the state of the contract 10 years from now. He might waive a no trade clause and not even be a Jay in 5 years.
  5. Worst case scenario is your Rogers bill increases next year by 5%. Best case scenario is this makes signing other players easier in the future as there's no way Rogers would put a hard stop on spending after this decision. I also believe we can't just say we could easily sign player A or B next year by letting Vlad walk. How did that work out for the last couple signings we whiffed on? Toronto isn't an easy place to attract players and everyone seems to forget that.
  6. Someone used to post a We're Streaking gif, I miss that one. Good times. I listened to the game while working, what a great job by Lucas. This Springer guy seems pretty good, wonder if he'll stick.
  7. No no, I've passed the baton lol. Just glad you're keeping up
  8. LOL - This beautiful man has had over 70K views since he made his debut.
  9. Tossing it right down the middle to the Jays killer with bases loaded is risky business
  10. Yes, thanks for the insight. I watched my grandfather die from parkinsons over years of deteriating, I was very close to him. It was such an awful battle. Life is often not fair but it does come down to what you make of it in the time you have.
  11. Hmmm, do you think it would hurt the value of some of the best framers in the game?
  12. Was the challenge of balls and strikes only for Spring Training as a test?
  13. I'm sorry to hear man, I've talked to doctors and they all agree that he would have had the most peaceful death at least without pain so I'm thankful he didn't have to go through the struggles of being.... older or sick.
  14. Yea, I guess the word accepted is a bit of an overreach. The sadness is mostly missing him right now and I'm not angry, I've slowly accepting that it was his time. I feel very thankful for all the support we've had and it's allowed me to reconnect with some past friends as a result. I've also learned my mother has a lot more friends than I do.
  15. Sorry to hear as well, I hope it gets better with time. My dad's happened on the operating table during a scheduled surgery. It's been hard to accept but I'm there now.
  16. I lost my dad last week and the season couldn't have started at a better time for me. I'll be around a lot more now. Hopefully everyone else has had a good start to the year. I think the Jays look better this year than people are giving them credit for.
  17. Also, nice to see you all here. Sorry I've been almost non-existent the last couple seasons.
  18. Vlad has gone from looking like a boy to a man in a quick minute. Probably an unpopular opinion but sign the papers big man
  19. and sadly still be below replacement level.
  20. I initially thought they were likely 150m+ apart and never going to come to an agreement. This deal seems more plausible reading all the leaked info. The Jays are obviously serious about re-signing him and if they are willing to risk up to 500m on him (deferred or not), the deal should get done plain and simple regardless of who you want to blame right now.
