  1. This definitely makes the most sense to me, I wonder how serious they've considered changing the draft order up to maintain competition on the field throughout the year.
  2. Trading him at his lowest when we have another year of control just makes no sense.
  3. 122 wRC+ Pre-haircut 201 wRC+ Post-haircut
  4. Vlad finding his power stroke never gets old.
  5. No one wants multiple bad players..These are players that simply must be moved given the curcumstance and you can't risk waiting until Tueaday to try to package them. If your trade partner fills their hole elsewhere you screw yourself.
  6. The whole point of my post was that NL teams can now take advantage of the DH for backend of contracts that at least lowers some risk. It means long term 1B deals are not really as comparible as the past or at least the next 10 years would likely have more to compare to. Why did you just bring up a 36yr old platoon left handed bat to compare to Vlad? Yeah, a guy who gets in under 100 games a year and is nearing the end of his career is going to have a tough time finding a job most offseasons.
  7. I think the fact that there is a DH option in the NL opens more doors for vlad that many are forgetting when trying to compare similar deals of the past. Where would Ohtani be for the Dodgers this season if this was 2021 or earlier? No matter how you slice it, the #1 DH in the game has a $70M AAV this season. What I'm saying is Vlad doesn't have to be a 150g+ 1B option for teams anymore. The moment Pujols was traded to LAA he was playing 30-50%+ less on the field and he only retired in STL in 2022 because of DH when he put up ridiculous numbers down the stretch. Considering there are twice as many teams that use DH today than all the comparibles you guys are using, 1B deals are going to naturally get larger imo.
  8. Who are all the teams that realistically would trade for vlad right now that's looking for 1b/dh offensive boost? I think they'd also need money to spend in hopes of locking him up after if it works out. Red Sox maybe Padres? It's not like 15 teams are in play here.
  9. lol.. based on what? If the Jays felt he'll give them multiple 150-170 wRC+ seasons they'd already have locked him up. They (and everyone else) are still unsure what he's going to give them.
  10. I hope you're right. Who's the ideal trade partner for him? Even with Casas I'd think the Red Sox should be knocking, no?
  11. With a season full of injuries and disappointment, Bo's not going to get traded with the intent of being extended by anyone, let alone as a rental for this year. The best play would be to get him as healthy as possible, get his value up and trade him next season as a pure rental. I don't like the idea of Vlad being a rental, he's too valuable. They got to make a solid stance, either trade him this season while he's playing well and get a great return or try their best to extend him with the fewest trade clauses possible.
  12. I mean Green/Delgado was always fun but the pitching during that era (Aside from Clemens in 98?) were just awful. That was pre-dominating Halladay years when I think our best pitcher was David Wells. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather watch winning by the long ball over whatever we have going on this year lol.
  13. LOL to be fair I loved the moves that were made and we at least had a lot of excitement going into the season. I thought Johnson had so much upside in that trade which turned into the biggest letdown.
  14. While 2009 was a pretty bad year overall, the very end - the last 2 weeks of the season we got to see Baustia break out and I think that was memorable imo. It felt like there was something there when he hit a bunch of bombs like 6 or 7 games in a row. I personally think we all suffered through 1994-2004, even with Clemens, Holliday, Delgado days... If there were wild card slots it would have been a lot more exciting and watchable but we were handicapped and knew the outcome before any season started.
  15. If you squint hard we're like a bad AAA team some nights.
  16. Strike 3...... umped.
  17. I think the worst part of this season is that we are not statistcally great at anything... There is quite literally nothing to build around or be excited about. Not the SP, RP, offense or prospects. I mean.. this team had years of excitement dating back to when Bautista broke out. Even he alone gave us something... Today we have the fewest homeruns in the AL. I guess we are #1 at something.
  18. Of all the issues the Jays have, Jansen is the least of their worries. With a small slump he's still on pace for over 2WAR while splitting a season like he always does. It's Kirk that's holding back the position, although I think we still project as top 5 WAR from our catchers in the league.
  19. Not much left to say. We really suck
  20. How do they measure a ball that still hasn't landed?
  21. Little off topic but has there been a more disappointing team over a 15 year span than the Angels.... ever?
  22. At this point they just got to use Romano against bottom half of the order, whether it's 8th or 9th inning and put Garcia in to close as needed imo.
  23. LOL rain delay bottom of the 9th down by 5
  24. I'll take that every game
