Yea, I'd stick up 9th until his BABIP starts to catch up to him. He still takes his walks, good K%, puts balls in play and would never hurt the top of the line up. If he's not leading off, might as well be 2nd leadoff.
I'm usually optimistic by end of May but that was every Blue Jay fan's mindset from 1994-2014 with a season like this and it never panned out.
I hate to be that guy but I'm personally not okay with settling into being a .500 team again unless there's hope for a better future from a proper rebuild. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be watching and rooting but do guys really believe in this core?
My realistic take is that I don't believe we'll ever win a division with the current core.... so if we ever get a streak going this year I'd hope Atkins has his friends on speed dial to sell off before it's too late.
Agreed. It's the fans in the stands that are paying $ to watch the richest athletes compete. If someone gets hurt after all the netting in place, it's literally nothing for a team to send down a peasant worker to ensure they are okay and give them something to brighten their day and that's only assuming the player doesn't have a minute available to spend with them.
Was at the game yday... zzzzz
My wife said I should get a new jersey, I said there isn't a single player from this team that I want to walk around with on my back and left it at that.
Sorry to kill the mood but I honestly don't think anything is "wrong" with Vlad... I think he is what he is, like so many other heavy hitters.
He's going to start projecting as a 3 war+ guy and can sprinkle in some magic at times and that's what you get with him. 3 years is way too far out from his last MVP like season to consider that as his norm. Reminds me of guys like Josh Hamilton, Chris Davis, etc. who could have a hot MVP season but for their career they just settle in to who they are.
At least Springer provides plus defense but why he's leading off still I don't know...what a shame where our bats are at right now. Biggio is outplaying bichette & vlad after a month. Let that sink in lol.
I mean, if Manoah every returned to form than it's a great problem to have.
Then again, I don't expect him to get out of the Ricky Romero downard spiral. Hope he proves us wrong.
I mean the fact that Atkins used Schneider as a scapegoat last fall for pulling Berrios and didn't fire him, why would they look to replace him now? They got their yes man.
