  1. The package sounds good, but the Mets are not in win now mode nor does it really make sense for them to do that. They would want younger, cheaper, more years of team control. He would need to go to a team like the Dodgers/Yanks/Angels/Tigers etc..
  2. There are trade chips on this team that could be traded to help strengthen this club long term. I know AA had his whole plan and his whole window, but it's time to reevaluate things. Trade JB for a top 20 prospect and focus on a rebuild with 4-5 stud YOUNG players as your core. You need to know when to buy, but you damn sure need to know when to sell. I know making certain trades is going to be a tough pill to swallow for people who like using stats and projections to determine if we'll make the playoffs but it's necessary. If not this team will be hovering around .500 with a 130m+ payroll for quite a while until something is done. Always on the cusp, but never actually quite there just because the payroll allows this team to not suck entirely.
  3. With EE likely headed for the DL. So, let's revisit the standings in 2-3 weeks and then you can say '5' games out of first.
  4. He was helped off the field, he's for sure gone for a month if he tore it that bad. P
  5. McCarthy is insignificant and would be to the Blue Jays team also. The Yanks are eating salary and can afford to add just about anyone they want and then still add more.
  6. If he heard a pop he's most likely out 3+ weeks. I've torn my quad and hammy a couple of times but also heard a pop on my quad once. I was running to first in softball. I was out 6 weeks with doing physio once a week. Bad quad tears can take quite a while.
  7. That's because AA never addressed pitching in the offseason. Did it really take a rocket scientist to guess that Morrow would get injured this year? Or that Dickey was never going to be that ace again in the AL? I mean, we knew we really needed an ace pitcher at the start of the season, and it still is the case.
  8. are you joking or no? you are talking about Brian Dozier right? I wasn't sure if you maybe were looking at Mike Trout's stats and confused them in proposing that package.
  9. Dump dickey and spend all that money on IFAs
  10. 7 years is a bit risky on a pitcher. Especially if they will be mid 30s when it expires. If we need to go to 6 years to sign someone really good who is young then ok, or go with option years. Either way, have you been following the Jays? They aren't going to get Maeda, lol The yanks/dodgers or another team are going to sign him. The Jays are good at coming up with excuses for not signing international players, that's about it.
  11. It's what happens when you tank a couple of years, dump a couple of vets, and build up properly. Although, they still will need to add FAs, but if they were able to get payroll to 100m+ with the core they have, they would be a serious threat. They have a bunch of good building blocks with nice contracts for the next 5 years. Kind of wish the Jays did that, then went crazy with the payroll, but never going to happen, and that's why the Jays will likely not win much in the foreseeable future. Until a competent GM comes along and is able to build a winner.
  12. ya next time we should call ahead for the other team to put out their #5, 3 days in a row. lol
  13. It won't be 3 weeks. If it's a fracture he will have his finger isolated for 3 weeks. Then he will do physio to regain full mobility in his finger, and then he will most likely do 2-3 games rehab, then rejoin the big club. So you are talking for sure 4-6 weeks, not 3.
  14. It's ok though, Dickey pitches better when he's < 12 miles from the Ocean, I remember someone writing a report on that on the boards.
  15. If he was already put on the dl then isn't it for sure broken? I thought someone said he was placed on the dl. Broken finger is what, 4-6 weeks?
  16. That is power, on 99% of players that's a foul pop out
  17. in a couple of weeks they will be 3-5 back, and then even more closer to the deadline so we won't have to pretend this is a playoff caliber team.
  18. Ya, no thank you to Shark. He just rejected a 5yr85m deal, he's not worth 17m+, good luck to whichever team overpays to get him. Why didn't this team just spend the money on Darvish or Tanaka.
  19. lol ya we all wish
  20. Except Shields had over a year of control last time he got traded. Now he has 3 months or so of team control. So the package will have to be less. I would rather give less up to get Shields than overpay for Shark/Price for only 1 extra year.
  21. I think you can see the pattern of TB trades. They trade a player in their prime to get back affordable and long term controllable talent and/or top prospects. So, I don't think they are looking for vets. That being said, if Price/Shark required the same package to acquire, you go all in for Price not Shark. So, if the team is deciding to make a big package for a pitcher, I think without a doubt Price is the man to go after.
  22. Try 22M/yr for the next 3 years!
