  1. The entire AL east is pretty tight. Every single team in the AL is on the verge of being a contender. The only thing the Jays don't have is the resources. They have an old core, and not as much money as the Yanks. Red sox want to rebuild quick and are going to add a front end starter. While the Jays are 'supposedly' close to contending, they are also fighting against several other close teams who will likely outspend and have a younger core who can progress. Buerhle/JB/Reyes, those guys are not getting younger or better at this point. Other teams are willing to spend big on IFAs, the Jays don't seem set on that route, and will likely miss the boat again (no pun intended for any of the cubans reading this).
  2. I think most people are willing to take that risk. He struck out way too much for someone with 0 power. I think DET knows what they got, a good defender, good glove, good speed, below average hitter. A poor man's endy chavez lol
  3. Good D + Fast + can't hit? I'd say only about half the ball players in the minors have that skill set.
  4. So you guys are saying AA did something good for once?
  5. I just saw he was under 30 years old, and won't cost prospects, not sure he fits in AA's plans then. We need him to be like 7 years older and signed on another team for AA to have interest, PASS.
  6. We need to target the most expensive players to acquire, or players in their mid 30s who other teams want to cash in because they know their production will drop. AA is the man with the plan.
  7. the thing with the sport of baseball is you can't win many games scoring 0 runs
  8. Like what happens when good international players get posted yet we sign no one?
  9. I'll bet you'll bite your tongue when they sign Martin, Sandoval and Lester..
  10. By a mile now too. Even pittsburgh/milwaukee/balt/kc have turn things around. The Jays are stuck in shittsville with AA being the mayor.
  11. Would you guys be happy if this team signed him for 15m/yr and he hit like he did in 2011, 2012, and 2013?
  12. Nah, Martin would be worth 2.43 BILLION a year, not 30 million.
  13. AA is going from having an overpaid average team, to having an overpaid crappy team. That in itself requires talent.
  14. Don't hold your breath on that one.
  15. Looks like the payroll slashing is full on. Garbage trade. Love the way AA has really molded this team into complete crap with no future. Looks like the Jays have 2 #5 pitchers now.
  16. This was the big offseason move AA was talking about ...If this doesn't pencil the Blue Jays in for a playoff spot next year, then I'm not sure what else will.
  17. There better have been girls in bikinis or something somewhere in that dream.
  18. Any lease is really breakable, there's just a consequence. It could be a lawsuit, or a settlement, etc..Just because they have a lease through 2027, doesn't mean they will necessarily abide to it.
  19. lol no one voted yes. He had a good year, so he obviously won't accept a QO offer. Most teams will offer 3-4 years, so there's almost no chance he takes a 1 year deal. If he gets hurt, or has a bad year, he would have sacrificed a lot of money.
  20. We don't know that. It could be an issue with length as well. The Jays are not cheap, they will do what it takes to win.
  21. For some reason, I think we all think of these famous people and athletes as above human. But, when sad and tragic events happen like these, it brings a reality check that they aren't just superstar athletes. That they are human and they can die, albeit way too soon. Like other people have mentioned, enjoy everyday and cherish it.
  22. There is 0 night life, restaurants anywhere near the Big O. A new stadium has to consider a lot of factors but they would also need a solid TV deal.
  23. You obviously missed this year's preseason games between the Jays and Mets at the Big O. Also, I am not sure if you've ever been to the big O but it is one of the dumpiest neighborhoods in the island. While easily accessible by metro, it is far from the west island and still 10 minutes from downtown. Last I heard, they were looking at a Griffintown location if there was ever a new stadium built. Could they get 40,000+ every game? Most likely not, but I could see an average 30-35k attendance in a 38,000 seat stadium.
  24. Well, it could even be further than 3-5 years. Just look at the Maple Leafs, anything is really possible.
