  1. ok so sounds like another year of missing the playoffs by 5-7 games, doing enough to excite the casual fan but not enough to realistically win unless EVERYTHING goes right, which will never happen.
  2. Swap Tomas with Markakis. But, Tomas/Miller/Lester = only 40m more , then you swap happ+ for a 2b.
  3. You could say whatever you want, and who can argue with you when you have 2 big tats staring at you from your avatar.
  4. If Boston gets Panda + Lester, ya, they should be the favorites for the East, Castillo should also continue to develop into a very decent player. Yanks will get one of shields/scherzer + probably a top Cuban or something, never rule them out of anything.
  5. That's really not entirely accurate. He's played over 130 games in 6 of the last 9 years. He really only missed some games in 2011/2013. But he played 128 last year, that's not bad. Panda missed games in 2011/2012. It's not like that doesn't happen to ballplayers.
  6. Think he's getting ready for when the liberals take over and have to jack up taxes to support their spending.
  7. H. Ramirez I like over Panda. He can play a couple more infield spots and won't age as bad as Panda, but will probably take 3-5m more a year to sign. But the Red Sox will be pretty competitive with Sandoval and Lester both signed.
  8. Boston should be pretty decent next year if they get back lester and sign Sandoval. Going to be interesting to see how Castillo does also.
  9. I think they know what they are doing, playoffs 10 times in the last 20 years. Guess what team hasn't done that?
  10. Well we should have signed him to a 10 year deal then, so he can frame into his 40s.
  11. You are killing the happy vibe the boards has over signing a soon to be 32 year old catcher who should be entering the declining part of his career in 1-2 years on a 5 year deal.
  12. Rogers is rich, we can sign Melky. You guys need to stop complaining about him.
  13. Look at Martin's stats from 2009-2013, and then look at how hard half the board is that we signed him. Melky's bad 2013 is due to injury, he's stated it and you could even see in his running/hustle last year. What was Martin's 2009-2013 due to? Injury also?
  14. This isn't your wallet. With the 32 year old Martin signing, JB heading into his late 30s, this club has no choice. They have to win this year/next, otherwise they have to retool without EE/JB. I don't see him declining for 2-3 years, he's gotten himself into shape after surgery, and he's only 30. Rogers wants to go all in, otherwise they wouldn't have signed Martin.
  15. Ya but you know what you get with Melky. He hit consistently last year. Right now, we need an outfielder, and there aren't many great options, right? Melky isn't horrid in the outfield, he's just not as good as a Pompey. But most likely, Pompey won't be hitting as well as Melky right? In LF, I'd rather a better hitter in that slot. An all around great hitter would cost more than 12-15m/yr. You are talking 20m for a superstar player. Melky at 4/50 is a good signing for this club right now.
  16. The thing is, if Navarro gets traded, Melky can DH some of the time. He's in LF, so it's not like we need him to play CF or SS.
  17. I don't know why you seem so happy. This team is better with Melky on it then with what we currently have. I would have done a 4/50 deal for Melky.
  18. Except most prospects don't achieve their ceiling and the Jays don't want to wait 2-3 years to see if any of that happens. The Jays aren't the only team with pitching prospects in the majors.
  19. Why because I asked someone to look up what his projections were in those years? Tell me what the problem is with that?
  20. Can you look up what his projections were for 2009-2013, and give some analysis on those years as well, ie. projections vs actual results? I am not good with stat crunching.
  21. hah ya, you don't know how frustrating it is to go from following a team that was limited in payroll but developed some of the best players in the majors just to lose them year after year. To now a team that is so mismanaged that regardless of payroll they still can't make the playoffs in 20+ years. That's not fair to a fan like myself.
  22. Ok so the Jays are talking to Ramirez, Martin, Sandoval, they were talking to Vmart. They won't talk to any good cubans, those cost money and there's too much risk along with the potential for upside (something that jays are against). They rather pay for old and consistent for short term and take the risk of decline vs spending for high upside/unknown. The question is, when will the Jays actually do something relevant? Signing Martin is useless without an outfielder AND a 2b because they still won't make the playoffs.
  23. Look any player is tradeable as long as the Blue Jays are in the league. Ie. if he's 35 and not producing or in a heavy decline, if AA is still here, then we most likely will trade 1-2 A prospects for him + take on 90% salary for whoever it is.
  24. For 4 years yes, for 3 years, 0 chance.
  25. Won't your jaw drop when you see the Jays are the one who signed him
