No matter what, they still would have been way better off anyway you slice it. You say they have trouble signing FAs, but you need to have the payroll to even get to that point. Plus, I hardly think a player will turn down money, Drew is still available for instance. Now, I don't see any point to signing him at this point, I don't consider him a long term option and I think this team needs 2 ace SPs ahead of Drew right now but there appears to be financial constraints.
