  1. I tore both my labrums, in the gym and sliding in softball, neither shoulder is 100% and I went to a private doctor here in Montreal. It's not as guaranteed as knee surgery to come back 100%. I can still bench 205-210 right now but I have a lot of discomfort and did plenty of rehab.
  2. Very doubtful they hedge the full amount. Just like hockey teams are affected with the volatility in the usd/cad exchange, but it could get costly to start hedging their full payrolls.
  3. They should be able to compete, except they will fall short as usual. Like another poster said, AA needs a 200+m payroll to win with this current roster. The volatility right now in the exchange is not good obviously but where the usd/cad rate is in 3-6 months no one can predict. However, if it goes towards 1.16-1.20, I'm wondering if the payroll will have to be slashed accordingly.
  4. Sucks that we still have AA and Friedman was willing to listen on offers. We just missed the boat on one of the best and young GMs in the game.
  5. That's amazing news for the dodgers. Friedman is obviously one of the top GMs in the game, and he's pretty young too. The Rays just got a huge blow, the only reason they were essentially competitive with that limited payroll was with his moves.
  6. AA is better at recycling the same garbage Rogers PR crap. But JP could do the same job for 40% less payroll though.
  7. I'm sure the Blue Jays will sign him
  8. Because if the Jays start trading players before they expire worthless they might actually start winning something, and that's not the goal of this team apparently.
  9. Curious if he talks about the 'window' to win..lol
  10. There is no sense of urgency, we still have 198 years left in the 200 year window. AA revised the number.
  11. Jays are going hard after him and Tomas. I expect we sign both, because management is committed to winning and sick of letting the other clubs get all the good international players.
  12. There's still plenty of time left in the 200 year window AA was talking about..
  13. Uhm, among many reasons why the Jays won't make the playoffs. But Goins should not have been in 50+ games this year. That's a problem. I'm not even sure if he should be used a bench player next year. There should be better options but it's not like the Jays will be in the post season anyways so I guess if they found themselves a cheap non useful player, they might as well go with him because the key part of that is 'cheap'.
  14. Can't believe Baltimore can lock up the div title. It was just a few short years ago they were a lock for last place in the division and everyone here was making fun of them. How the tides turn, and the blue jays still miss the playoffs and no hope in the near future right now for anything changing that course.
  15. Anyone hear anything if there is any talk about the Blue Jays having interest in Y. Tomas?
  16. Pretty useless article. It's pretty contradictory too, halfway through the article it then goes on how the Red Sox will have interest in Lester and Shields. The Red Sox will be back next year or the year after to compete. They will surpass the Jays easily with their young talent and most likely higher payroll.
  17. The Jays are saving their money for Tomas, who is going to be cleared in the offseason. Don't worry, we will sign all the good players when every other team is least expecting it, just don't hold your breath though.
  18. It's not just Castillo, it's the culmination of all the IFAs that just get passed by this team. You can say Longoria signed for cheap X number of years ago. So don't compare past contracts to what's going on now. Darvish signed for cheap compared to what pitchers are getting now. That mentality will not win you championships. He's going to be a starter not a 4th OF type. And guess what, he costs no prospects or draft picks.
  19. Once again, real teams make real moves. The jays are on the sidelines and will always be. Instead they will overpay in trades for older vets. The cycle is never ending. The jays need an entirely new front office, who can build this team and position itself to compete for many years. Something that's clearly lacking right now.
  20. First, I'm not sure MB can be traded without this team eating salary. So say it costs 4m, and what do you think Lester or Shields will cost? Add about 4m to that and you can guess why MB is not going to be traded. This team has no vision, unfortunately AA is here for another year, and I highly doubt a GM on the last year of his deal is going to look to rebuild a team that desperately needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. The way this team is constructed right now, it needs another 20-25m in payroll for it to have a chance next year. That's assuming JB doesn't decline a lot as most players in their mid 30s tend to do. The biggest trade this team could make would be swapping front offices with another team.
  21. I'm hoping we can work out a deal with Melky. That 40th overall pick will not help us next year or the following, and I think Melky won't be asking for absurd amounts of money. Plus, the hitting will take a pretty big hit without him in the lineup.
  22. You think Casey Janssen will get 4/44???? lol He'll most likely get a 3 year 18-22m deal. I still don't know if your post is serious or not, if we should QO Janssen for ~14m.
  23. Red Sox will be back, they have good prospect depth, are going to bid on some IFAs (which the bluejays don't believe in and that's one of the reasons they will never win anything), and the Yanks have major payroll coming off the books. This was the year to spend that extra 15-20m and get a legit #1 pitcher + infielder through trades or FA.
  24. not realistic, he's not worth 22, but he's def worth 13-15m on the open market
