  1. just how many Ohkas will this team sign?
  2. lol he used to play for the Expos cleveland steamer said he should earn $38m for 2014
  3. so wait, was AA going to offer Santos for Anderson in the original 3 way trade? lol goes to show you how bad of a GM AA is, when look how little the Rockies gave up.
  4. Also, were there indications the Blue Jays would field a 150m+ payroll this year? Also, it wouldn't make sense in acquiring a 20m+ pitcher unless we also upgraded a bat somewhere which could cost 10m. So that would give us a 160m payroll.
  5. Phillies were in win mode as well, but they recognize they need to retool in order to eventually try to win again. They have the ability to field a high payroll team. How is it they recognize that dumping those players could help their future but the Blue Jays believe they are in win now mode with the Yanks/Red Sox in their division and both have solid teams to field in '14 and can't realize that?
  6. You know the yanks come in here and get Lee for like a C level prospect because they will eat the full salary.
  7. I read somewhere on these boards that AA was quoted as saying that the deal was pending Bonifacio being included. If that's the case, then he's still out of his mind.
  8. This was probably going to be a salary dump with the Jays picking up some crappy player in return for giving up a decent arm. This is AA we're talking about.
  9. You might as well 'what if' I woke up in the morning and Kate Upton was next to me naked. About the same chance of us getting Myers.
  10. No kidding, and you get to keep EE! But Garza is tied to draft pick compensation isn't he?
  11. Twistedlogic, I agree with you 1000%. You are backing up everything you say. The proof is in the pudding.
  12. I can see the Yanks going after a SP next. I know they've been linked to Tanaka, but I can just see them stealing a Garza at this point.
  13. I still can see the reds wanting to dump phillips. I think if the Jays eat the majority of his salary we could get away with giving b level prospects. I'd be ok with trading for Phillips and signing Garza. Those moves would make me a believer for next season. It all will depend on Dickey being the #1 ace he was supposed to be. A 20+ game winner. If he's a #3 starter again then this team has no chance. Now, I know Morrow is also a wildcard, I'd be ok with trading him in a phillips package. Now, imagine Garza Tanaka Dickey Buerhle Happ /Drabek Yes, a man can dream! You throw in Phillips into 2b and then you can't tell me this team wouldn't contend for a playoff spot. Now it would also require a bit of a payroll bump but you can either spend 10-15m and most likely not make the playoffs, or spend 20-30m more and have a good shot. The value of this franchise, sales, ticket revenue, would all dwarf that 20-30m spent, so your call Rogers!@
  14. 'predictions' , so like I said, how did that turn out last year? Were the projections and predictions off? I'd say so. I'm on some other BJs boards and it's great to see so many people optimistic about this team on this one. lol It's crazy but if you go to other boards, everyone else is a bit more realistic on the current state of the team. It's weird to see so many people happy with how this team is being run.
  15. We were also the favorites last year, how did that turn out? A few 'BIG' moves away, just like most teams. If Seattle trades for Price and signs Napoli or someone, they could just as easily be considered for the wild card. The Blue Jays are not the #6 team in the league currently, they weren't last year with Johnson, and they sure as hell aren't this year without him. They were a last place team in the East finishing 11th worst in the entire league I believe.
  16. I don't know if you're serious or not when you say big things. This club is a last place club in the AL east right now, that rotation might make it a second to last club at the BEST, but that's only if the Rays trade Price for prospects. The depth with Happ/Drabek, those guys are #5s, a lot of ballclubs have a lot of depth in the minors for call ups to be a #5. The Jays are not special in that case. A #2b starter like Samardijza will help, but we still need to replace Morrow. Now, if this team ALSO added Garza, traded Morrow, and signed a decent bat, then maybe we'd have some sort of chance, but I don't see that happening.
  17. I wouldn't really call it a fine rotation, very average. Stroman is unknown, Morrow is inconsistent, Buerhle is stable but still he's a #3-#4. Dickey is a wildcard but more of a #2 guy now, the AL can hit him, and who knows how Samardijza will pitch in the AL. Still one of the weaker pitching rotations in the AL east.
  18. why so we can finish in second to last instead of last in the division?
  19. I bet you Boras is laughing his ass off at how bad of a choice Cano made in going with Jay Z.
