  1. I don't even think Atkins knows where this team is going. Jays probably have the worst farm system in the majors now, very easily bottom 3. I guess it's going to be a half ass try to win now, oh well.
  2. I can't see the Jays being good anytime soon, they have the worst contract in baseball and one of the weakest farm systems in all of MLB. They will be mediocre, that is a guarantee, with a 270m payroll. Jays actually need a complete tear down but this is not the year to sell considering the returns and Jays don't even want to sell Varland. So they will linger in mediocrity until the shine of making it to the WS fades in a couple of years.
  3. Ya but they can do a retool and be a 270M mediocre team for next year, think about that. I wonder how many years until they admit they need a rebuild?
  4. Ya, we had to realistically expect this to be something like an 8/500m year deal, we figured at age 33/34 he was going to hit replacement level or negative war. So Vlad has to be amazing every year to be worth 62.5m a year. It was just a really really bad contract from the get go, and management is lucky they are pushing a 290m payroll. The last 7-8 years of this are going to be utterly terrible. I mean Vladdy most likely comes back to a 3-4 war player (we hope) next year. We all realistically expected this decline to happen around 30, the fact it's happening now and he's not giving the team 6-7 WAR in his peak years means he will have to be that much better later on which is most likely not happening.
  5. lol don’t they have like 6-7 top 100 prospects already?
  6. Great deal for Astros, not too long either. Thought he’d get more.
  7. Mariners traded a top 50 prospect for who?? lol they could have easily signed 10+ relievers without giving that up.
  8. That's exactly what they need. They sign a reliever or trade for one at some point.
  9. Wish there was a way to unload Santander and just sign BO + Cease, such a bad signing last year and some people liked it.
  10. The Jays are all in now anyways. They will probably have to go over the luxury tax. They need BO + Cease + RP. Yanks will make moves to get better + Red Sox have impactful prospects and are young and getting better. Jays could fall to third depending on what they do here.
  11. Is there a reason why Schneider didn’t pitch hit for Giminez?
  12. Especially when you pull Bichette too and need that bat
  13. Barger should have been hitting there, there was no point to pulling him
  14. You don't want the band-aid pulled off already instead of floating at .500 and doing nothing? I mean, it was so predictable the way things are going this year. Aren't we ready for the tear down? Middle of the pack with a high payroll, worst farm system, bad contracts, and no budget room is not exactly a good situation lol.
  15. Same posters who thought Travis Snider was going to be the next Mike Trout lol? There's not much to be excited about, Jays need to rebuild for several years and new management.
  16. Have heard in the 300m range. Would have been great to trade Vladdy + sign Tucker. But, when Shatkins gets fired we can go through all the logical things the team should have done.
  17. If Shatkins gets fired, does the Vladdy contract get terminated since it doesn't start until next year?
  18. 4 dead? I doubt he'll be +WAR at 35/36. There will probably be at least 6 dead years. It's basically an 8/500m deal. Is Vladdy worth 62.5m/yr? And that could be even higher if he stops at 32-33. He won't even be worth that this year and this is his 'prime' lol.
  19. Easily the worst core (factoring in contracts also) in all of MLB.
  20. Who cares, it's not your money. Give him 300-500m whatever he wants, actually just offer 50-100m more than what his agent wants. I don't see the point in wanting to save money now. We already opened the floodgates with Vladdy's horrendous deal.
  21. Give him 500m, and then sign Tucker in the offseason for 600m.
  22. Maybe the obvious isn't so obvious to some. By the time the fans really start turning on Vladdy (when he gets to 1-2WAR) he'll be 31-32 and Shatkins will be gone. If the Jays can pump out a 240m payroll consistently, they should still stay middle of the pack fighting for a playoff spot. We will never be a top team, I think most fans realize that now, because the farm is bottom 5 and now they shot their load for Vladdy but it will be enough to get fans in the stadium short term.
  23. Well, every year or two there is a new standard in the worst contract, this is now it.
  24. Since Vladdy wants more money than he's actually worth, there's virtually no chance you can regret trading him unless you get 2 prospects that bust. Even then, you still have that capital to overpay free agents and not sign them until they are 40 years old. But chances are 1 of the prospects provides value and you still have money to sign 2 free agents at around 8-10m/war.
