I'm thinking maybe some kind of arrangement like...
against LHP
Cola 1B, Bautista RF, Pompey LF, EE DH, Revere bench
against RHP
EE or Bautista 1B, Pompey RF, Revere LF, EE or Bautista DH, Cola bench
Daric Barton at AAA for depth.
He also seems be a legitimately great clubhouse guy. The article about how he speak perfect Dominican Spanish and really bridges the clubhouse languge gap made a pretty convincing argument for him as a role player.
Maybe cut bait on Smoak too? If the idea is to have a defensive 1B, I think the team can find a lesser hitter with a better glove rather than a jack of all trades master of none type. This is assuming that Bautista moves into the 1B/DH mix and that the player in this role would get less PAs.
Pretty hard to put the ball in play when they're calling stuff way off the plate for strikes. There were some missed opportunities in the game for sure but those two ABs were sabotaged by the ump. Can't really blame Navarro and Revere especially Revere who had a great f***in' game.
While we're killing time.... Cool article about how Cola speak impeccable Dominican Spanish and can navigate the tribes better than anyone on the team. Regressin or not, I'd keep him around for that alone.
