  1. I wasn't getting the impression that the same narrative was dominating the NL coverage but to be honest, I haven't followed closely at all. I'm finding that I can't really get invested in other series when there's a Jays series going on. Also, as I get older, I pay less and less attention to what goes on around baseball. I'm pretty much a Jays first and (practically) only.
  2. That's been my stand up until recently but Bautista's outfield play seems to be getting worse by the day and he really looks like a DH all of a sudden. That being said it might not actually be possible to do anything. Asking either to waive 10-5 is not a conversation anyone on the team wants to have.
  3. You don't have to decide right now to give him 150 innings. You don't have to decide right now which reliever (if any) becomes a starter. Only thing anyone is saying is that he showed today why he's worth a second look. He throws much harder than he did last time it was tried and he showed today that he can sustain that velocity. It would be dumb to set anything in stone but I think it's more than worth considering. He's not just better as a reliever. He's a better pitcher period.
  4. Yeah the Jays in the playoffs and that alone is really awesome even if it feels s***** right now.
  5. Yeah and some increased flexibility with the DH spot might be beneficial. I'm starting to side with the Bautista should play less outfield crowd (but I'm not in the Bautista should play 1B crowd).
  6. Didn't your momma tell you that Dickey's would break your heart?
  7. If RealAccountant is the dog, does that make his wife... Never mind.
  8. Because even after a playoff run, the team might not have the luxury to be too choosy about it's pitching targets.
  9. No but he won't go back to 91 or whatever he pitched before either. There's no way he's merely the relief version of that guy. He's gotten a lot stronger somehow.
  10. The thought crossed my mind as well. He was still effective in his last inning. There's no way his velocity spike is just due to being in the bullpen. There was an excellent article by Capital Jays explaining that basically his spike was too dramatic to be explained so simply and today's performance supports that. http://capitaljays.com/2015/09/29/liam-hendriks-unparalleled-velocity-spike/
  11. It would be painful to have to decide between Bautista and Encarnacion but it might be a good idea in terms of roster construction.
  12. O.K. I don't want to harp. It just seemed richly ironic that you would post that after just replying to him.
  13. Hutch was really bad even in relief and Buehrle is done. Probably should have been Delabar but he's in the dog house. Edit: Or maybe Francis since he could double as a long man or loogy. Probably Francis really.
  14. Yeah that's the thing... The job is to inject narrative and god forbid events align with the stupid pre-determined narrative because then you can't hear the end of it.
  15. Yes. That's how Tepera (sigh) entered the picture.
  16. It's just so bad and what kills me is that there's no journalism standard in sight. Doesn't matter how uninformed and ignorant you are, if you're an ex-jock and you can offer an opinion (no matter how egregious or uninformed) you have a job for life (unless you tweet something about religion).
  17. Terrible thing to speculate on but... someone very important in Loup's life must be dying.
  18. Watched the game on PVR so I missed this whole thread. I really have only one thing to say anyways. HAROLD REYNOLDS MUST DIE.
  19. I mean seriously everything positive for the Royals is a testament to their philosophy but everything positive on the Jays is a huge outlier. "Maybe we've just happened to see all his big games but this guy (Pillar) has looked good out there." "People are going to think I'm crazy but I think Donaldson has a shot at MVP". And these kind of stray observations come as asides in the middle of constant Royals fluffing. LIKE CAN HAROLD REYNOLDS JUST f*** OFF ALREADY!
  20. They're entertaining but having them held up as some kind of baseball renaissance is annoying as f***. I suppose less so if you don't have a rooting interest in the Jays.
  21. Holy f***! Losing to the Royals is THE WORST. I want that team to get it's head caved in so badly right now. If it's not by the Jays than by the Mets.
  22. I seem to recall that back in 1992, they would still wear the white panel hat and they got superstitious about that too and the road blue hat became the hat for all games. FWIW, esthetically I like the Jays with as much blue as possible.
  23. There's a best wishes Daniel Norris thread (which is actually an old thread about his trade value that I renamed). People have been posting about it there (just mentionning it as an FYI, I don't mind it coming up here too).
  24. Kind of lost in all this is that it doesn't sound like Volquez was taking this seriously at all. Good on him for having perspective.
