    Would it kill Dustin Hoffman to simply blow the lead? Maybe just let them tie it or we’re down by 1? Why does he have to just completely suck ass and put the other team ahead multiple runs?

    Yep. 1-6, it's a collection of solid to good setup men without having elite high end fireballers. I can see where they all click and this team advances far but I can also see where a few of them struggle and we get bounced early.

    Yeasavage could also play a factor as a multi-inning weapon but he'll need to ace his next start as the clock is ticking for him. But all that said, the Jays pitching is very deep and not that top heavy. That normally plays down in the playoffs but if Bieber is dealing and the bullpen is clicking, I could see a scenario where we are mixing and matching game to game and end up making the World Series.

    Yeah you can't write off Bassitt or Berrios just yet. Both are solid mid rotation innings eaters that are great to have in the regular season. But they aren't THAT much worse than Gausman/Scherzer. And I'm not convinced they are any worse than Lauer. Good final months from them and bad months from Gaus/Scherzer could propel them into the playoff rotation. That does seem possible, but a little bit unlikely.

    You could almost keep Lauer's options open. If any of the Top 3 struggle in Games 1-3, he could come in as the longman. If they don't, then you could save Lauer as a piggy-back for Game 4.

    The Top 3 are pretty set but that 4th spot isn't as easy as just slotting Lauer in there to me. I'd probably piggy-back 2 of Bassitt, Lauer and Berrios depending on the matchup.

    I agree with everyone on the #1 or 2 seed but the calculus doesn't change a whole lot compared to winning the AL East. 80.5% chance to win the East and 72.5% chance to secure a bye. The Astros and Mariners fading a lot, with the Tigers not doing a whole lot to run away with things has really helped.

    Here's an example of where things stand. If we go 15-16 the rest of the way, that gives us 91 wins. In order to get to 92, the Yanks would need to go 22-10 the rest of the way. Their schedule is cake, but even so they do have to play us, the Astros, the Tigers and the Red Sox. If we go 16-15, the Yanks have to go 23-9, etc.....

    Fangraphs (who considers the schedule) is projecting the Yankees to finish with 89 wins and the Red Sox to finish with 87. Since we own the tiebreakers, I do think 89 wins could realistically take the division but that would be cutting it close. 90 and up and we have a great shot. Like you said 93 or even 92 probably gets it done for sure.

    The Yankees' schedule is so cake from here on out. Hopefully Baltimore shows up for the 7 games against them. They've been playing better and probably hate the Yankees as much as anyone so they should be motivated.

    Manfred is going to get rid of the American and National League and will institute Eastern and Western instead

    Little been pretty lights out in every month but August so far and that's largely due to one bad outing against LAD. He can run a really high walk rate, even higher than most high-k/elite relievers, because his K rate and GB rate are both so good. Even so, walking over 6 per 9 doesn't seem good. Needs to get that down in the 4s.

    It's all Seattle's fault. Just contract the team rather than jumping through all these expansion and realignment hoops.

    So the Marlins were going to go Quantrill-Junk-Eury Perez but they put Quantrill on waivers yesterday. So probably see Ryan Gusto instead? Their whole rotation is TBD for the upcoming series but it's probably something like; Bieber vs. TBD Berrios vs. Junk Gausman vs. E. Perez
