Feels like Dan Wilson has been downright horrible but has been bailed out by a couple of 350 foot homers leaving the park. Using Brash in the 5th inning against the 8-9 hitters was nuts. -
Yeah they should have been moving him up the food chain all year to get him some high leverage experience. Instead, they actually optioned him in late August.

This isn't really true. His July and August were pretty mid but he was good in September and been fine in the playoffs prior to this. Sometimes it looks UGLY because of the walks and pitches that aren't competitive. But he Ks a lot of guys while being an extreme GB pitcher. If you walk a lot of guys you can make that work if you K a lot and are a GB unicorn. Unfortunately, Cal tagged him with a 348 foot homer. That said, I do wonder if someone like him might play down in the playoffs though. Not a ton of velocity and batters are locked in and may do a better job of laying off his junk.

It's kind of weird because the board has been hating on Hoffman for months. Schneider rides him like he's Mariano Rivera anyway. All the sudden Schneider stops using him like Rivera and it blows up in his face. Now the board is mad at him. SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO YOUR GUNS JOHN

I don't like the move to Little but I am curious as to who you think was the slam dunk choice there?

Yeah and SerAnthony came in and gave up a homer too. I guess we should have gone with Hoffman? Surely he wouldn't have given up a homer (he actually lead the league).

Yeah I think facing Cal in a 1 run game loomed really large on this decision. It's definitely a peculiar decision to go to Little but: Hoffman (most relief homers in baseball) vs. Cal (60+ bombs) in a 1 run game is scary SerAnthony is really bad vs. lefties and would have had to have gone against 3 lefties in a row Little has been slightly better in September and the playoffs and for all of his faults, he generally doesn't give up homers. He's also equally effective against lefties and righties. So the hope I guess is to put him in there and even though he might walk someone, you'd think he can at least keep the ball in the park and hand the ball over to SerAnthony or Hoffman once they get past Naylor. Instead, Cal hit a 348 foot homer, Little walked two guys, and then Suarez hit a 351 foot grand slam off SerAnthony. (The previous inning Clement and Straw hit 363 and 376 foot fly outs.)

Yeah his advanced age and lack of athleticism is on full display when he tries chasing down pop ups in foul territory. Our guys can make almost anything close but it seems like he has no chance on a lot of them.

Yeah the 2025 team is on the same level as the 2015 and 2016 teams. With plenty still to go!

Agreed, that was horrible usage. They used him like he was their long man.

If they get approval in time we could see Loperfido in the starting lineup tonight over IKF. I did fiddle around with Statcast some and if Castillo brings the heat then Davis Schneider is essentially worthless. He can't hit 96+ from righties. IKF can slap hit them a little bit.

The article is paywalled but I saw a screenshot on Twitter and it sounds like Loperfido would be the one to replace him.

I imagine they would have liked to have gotten Joey's lefty bat in there against Castillo tonight. But even if approved in time, these lights are pretty bright for Joey to be playing on short notice after having sat for so long.
