  1. I don’t disagree but slap hitting defensive guys with high WAR projections fetch less in trades for some reason so we could probably get him for less. We got Gimenez in a salary dump and he plays up the middle.
  2. Abel was a former first rounder and always one of those guys that looked the part and scouts loved. He’s 6’5” and his fastball sits at 96. He could never hit the broadside of a barn though so his stock dropped. But this year his walk numbers have really improved and he showed some glimpses in his MLB starts. If that improvement sticks he could be legit, hence why the Twins wanted him.
  3. Yeah this game isn't over by any stretch but regardless of what happens we need to take the offday to reset and then get back to our winning ways against the Royals and Rockies.
  4. That error cost us 3 unearned runs and about another 15 pitches We need to get the hell out of this town
  5. If Santander doesn't come back I think Loperfido makes the cut and we could run something like this: LF- Lukes/Schneider (L/R) DH- Springer 1B- Vlad SS- Bo 3B/RF- Barger (L) C- Kirk CF- Varsho (L) RF/3B- Loperfido/Clement (L/R) 2B- Gimenez (L) C- Heineman (S) 2B/OF- Schneider UT- Clement OF- Straw I agree that there are definitely ways to improve on that but unless it's a clear upgrade it would eventually require a "difficult decision" as Leo puts it.
  6. Varsho and Springer back Friday Kirk back Sunday Gimenez rehab games early next week Yimi will start throwing next week but sounds like the rest of his season is up in the air
  7. The Yankees continue to shop at the bargain bin.
  8. If Varsho, Springer, Kirk and Gimenez all return as soon as expected then we probably don't need one (unless it's a clear upgrade) as some sort of combination of Loperfido, Wagner, Schneider, Straw, and Clement all get moved to the bench or optioned. But someone with positional versatility like Willi Castro could still fit. Rosters expand in September and then in the playoffs we can run with a 5 man bench.
  9. In addition to Bob's fine work, Fangraphs also had a good write up on the deal and likes the trade a lot for the Jays.
  10. Personally, I’m glad we lost 4 in a row. Things have been way too easy around here lately and everyone got far too soft. This team is going on a run in October and I need to know who around here I can trust to have nerves of steel and who is going to be a whiny little b1tch. Elite ball knower Spanky is making the cut, as usual, but a lot of you are really disappointing me. Get it together people.
  11. Come on Wagner, 3-2 pitch right down the middle
  12. Imagine if we get another high leverage reliever and we also get Yimi back. Our playoff bullpen would be: Hoffman Duran/Helsley/Bednar Yariel SirAnthony Yimi Little Fisher
  13. I didn't realize that checking in on Kwan's availability made it so we couldn't also look into relievers
  14. You can bet your bottom dollar that Ross Atkins will be all in on acquiring The Final Boss of slap hitters
  15. If I'm the 27th man I'm definitely making an impression before being sent down tomorrow lol
  16. Since the other leagues offer zero dollars for anyone less than a 3 year vet I'd say that yes it is good. This whole conversation started because you and max were saying how the MLBPA doesn't look out for the little guys compared to other leagues and then expanded the convo to society on the whole. Only to then suggest that MLBPA give the owners a salary cap lol That is insane but that's your own damn fault lol. Leave Bryce Harper out of it.
  17. That's pretty damn good for a guy who gets a cup of coffee.
  18. Yes, MLB owners are making out like bandits. Let's not give them a cap on top of it.
  19. The injuries are really starting to stack up. I'd be fine with a split today.
  20. You are assuming that there is a cap system that does anything other than benefitting the owners. MLB is making record revenues right now. How about we just instill a floor with no cap? And if the cheap owners can't turn a profit they can then sell the team for 10x what they paid for it?
