    He said that they could consider it but he would talk to Varland about it after the year. My general feeling was that it was an option but unlikely.

    Good lord we just cannot get healthy right now. Hopefully that clears up soon. I'm cool with 2 out of 3 against the Royals and then let's go sweep the Rockies.

    Agreed. Imagine being upset about us dumping a corner outfielder and infielder combining for a grand total of ONE home run in about 250 ABs lmao. Plus one of them is a nepo baby who skipped important games in the middle of a pennant chase to go party with his dad for a weekend. GOOD RIDDANCE

    I haven't heard Atkins say much about France other than he will be playing a lot against LHP. He probably takes Straw's playing time who is somehow even getting pinch hit ABs right now lmao. I think Varsho and Gimenez's defense make them better options vs LHP than Barger right now who makes for a better pinch hitter. LF- Lukes/Schneider (L/R) DH/RF- Springer 1B- Vlad SS- Bo 3B- Barger/Clement (L/R) C- Kirk CF- Varsho (L) RF/DH- Loperfido/France (L/R) 2B- Gimenez (L) C- Heineman (S) OF- Straw 2B/LF- Schneider* UT- Clement* 1B- France* It seems like Gimenez is still a week or two away but when he comes back we will have to figure something out until September 1. Either someone hits the IL or one of Schneider or Loperfido go to AAA for a couple weeks. Probably Loperfido. If Taters comes back then France could hit the chopping block if he's not hitting. If he is then maybe he survives and Schneider or Loperfido don't.

    Roden's first MLB stint was ROUGH. He looked overmatched and scared of striking out so he would throw his gameplan out the window and just wave at pitches and hit weak grounders to the left side. His projections have taken a small dive as well but it's enough that he's just a platoon bat. Even so, he should be able to overcome some of those rookie struggles and his defense was better than expected so he should be a solid 4th OF or platoon bat.

    Yeah that's exactly it IMO. There will probably need to be another decision when Bieber is ready in mid August. But that said, rosters expand to 28 in September so one of Schneider/Loperfido will be right back up as will the pitcher that gets sent down for Bieber.

    We need Bieber to deliver and one other guy to also step up so I get your sentiment. But I don't think Manoah has any chance in fulfilling that role. He was fringe as it was and now he's coming off TJS. He might be cooked. I think Gausman is probably our best bet followed by the rest. Bassitt could do it for a game but it's hard to see him stringing together dominant playoff starts. Scherzer looked sharp his last outing. Could he turn back the clock? Berrios is an SP4 in the playoffs at this point, and a mediocre one at that. Lauer could be a 3 inning guy? Manoah probably doesn't even make the playoff roster.

    They made some really good moves and the new bats paired with the rotation make for a scary playoff opponent. But the bench is filled with replacement level guys right now so an injury could really hurt them. I suppose Raley and Robles will be back so they figure that is good enough? The bullpen is probably missing one more fireballer too. They were as aggressive as anyone other than the Padres but they stopped just short. Still a scary team.

    When you're not frantically doom posting (90% of the time) or defaulting to juvenile "sloppy blowjob" jokes about Ross Atkins (9.99% of the time), you're actually pretty solid!

    ”It’s good the guys I like more were sent down to the minors!” 😂 Even if that were true your example disproves your point. You would want the years of control so you could ride the wave of reliever volatility. Doval and Bednar sucked but because their teams had years of control over them they were able to bounce back and apparently become such good relievers in your eyes that it makes the Yankees deadline an easy winner and ours an easy loser because we didn’t get them.

    What I’m realizing is that this is all coming down to the names as much as the talent. “Never mind that Doval and Bednar have recently been demoted to the minors, they have been All-Star closers before! So they must be a lot better than SirAnthony and Varland…” When in reality they are so close in talent that you could probably just draw their names out of a hat ROS

    Yeah they needed a starting pitcher and some starting position players and instead they got some late inning relievers and platoon bats. I think Cashman knows his team is cooked this year with the Judge injury (barring any playoff luck which is possible) so he focused on guys with some control so they could reload next year with Cole coming back.

    Seriously, what pitchers did you want us to get? You seem to love the Yankees deadline and I think it is criminal what they got Bednar and Doval for but outside of that, Siranthony and Varland are right there in terms of velocity, results and projections. They also got Bird I guess, but their bullpen was a mess outside of Williams and Weaver so they needed another guy more than we did. And of course we got an SP1 and they didn't acquire a starter at all despite Cashman trying.

    You sound like Jays24 lol We added the best starter available (seriously, that is not a misprint) and two late inning relievers that throw 98 mph and you are whining that we didn't add enough to the pitching staff? Who else did you want us to get?

    Adding Bieber to our playoff rotation is huge and that alone could be bigger than pretty much everything the Yankees did in total. The one thing I will credit the Yankees with, however, is that they once again didn't have to give up jack s*** for what they got. And that includes the two good hard throwing relievers who they got for free. So I think we got better than they did but we definitely gave up more. Unfortunately, MLB has a shadow rule that the Yankees only have to pay 70 cents on the dollar for their trades so there is nothing we can do about that.

    Lol The Jays add the best starter available in all of MLB and two good relievers The Yankees also add two good relievers and a bunch of slop and somehow we are doomed while the Yankees are destined for playoff greatness Nevermind the fact that we've been beating the breaks off of them all season and have a solid lead AND their best player may have fried his elbow
