  1. Why is that funny? if Schneider throws him 4 out of 5 days and needlessly warms up him I have concerns if Hoff doesn’t throw for 5 days he can often struggle pretty simple stuff
  2. I agree with the Boss on this one. I wouldn't want to give up a ton for a reliever. They are really volatile. Plus, I think the market overrates hard throwing relievers and underrates low velo guys. I'd target effective low velo guys for that reason. I would stock up on interesting low velo guys
  3. The Jays have a bad season = Ross Atkins sucks The Jays have a good season = Ross Atkins still sucks he's just lucky Am I doing this right?
  4. Lopez has a pretty crazy stat line. 11.37 K/9, 3.38 BB/9, and only a 22% groundball rate. He has a terrible fastball that sits at 90 mph but a good slider and changeup. Very low release point. I trust that Popkins will come up with a good game plan to once again destroy this soft tossing turd. His gimmicks don't work against us.
  5. Hoffman was due for a stinker. He had given up zero runs in his last 9 appearances. He also hadn't pitched in 5 days so he he will be good to throw at least 1 if not both the remaining games. Hopefully last night was him shaking the rust off.
  6. His stuff was insane tonight but the Jays are too good not to get to him eventually
  7. God the A’s are ass just pull Scherzer and let him rest his thumb and have Robinson Piñata close it out for a 12-7 win
  8. Vladdy mashes in minor league stadiums, he’s homering tonight.
  9. Nance was dealing in Buffalo. 6:1 K:BB ratio and a 2.63 FIP. Good time to bring him up and see if he is a guy that can stick past the trade deadline.
  10. The Gage Stanifers and Kenry Rojases stepping up like this is a great development for the farm system on the whole but they've also played their way into being good trade chips at the deadline. "The Top 10 pitcher in the system" types who make for great pieces in a trade package.
  11. You sold me on Sandy. Go get him Ross.
  12. Jays have a pretty good track record with veterans pitchers so if they can identify a mid rotation guy that they think they can get #2 starter production out of, that might be the route to go. Whether that's Alcantara or Keller or someone idk, but the pitching nerds in the FO can probably identify one that they can squeeze more juice out of.
  13. It seems like the Marlins could be a good fit in that they are playing a lot better and might be interested in a lot of our AAA guys to fill their holes.
  14. Seems like a pretty steep price for a cromulent middle reliever.
  15. I wouldn't want to give up much in the way of prospects but if Ed Rogers wants to keep writing checks I'm all for it
  16. What kind of contract would DeGrom sign in the offseason?
  17. Kikuchi and Flaherty didn’t get big free-agent deals, but both returned 50 FV prospects plus extras at last year’s deadline. Same with Jason Adam, who’s a decent comp for Bednar. Just shows how steep the deadline premium is. Teams gave up 50/45 FV packages for rentals who then signed one-year deals in free agency. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/ranking-the-prospects-traded-at-the-2024-deadline/ I’m also higher on Keller than ZiPS 2026/2027, which I don’t think are updated yet. He’s putting up 3.2, 2.2, and ~3.6 WAR from 2023–2025. Three years, $56M for ages 30–32 is a solid deal but I suppose it's not great given where prices have been. And perhaps Kikuchi and Flaherty were perceived to be #2/3-like starters in the playoffs whereas Keller is more #3/4? But still, I think his contract carries a little bit of value to make it close. So you guys are probably right in that Keller would not be worth Nimmala on his own, but toss in 1.5 years of Bednar and I’m definitely in.
  18. Just because people have been saying it for years doesn't make it true. In his 6 seasons prior to this one, he's underperformed his xStats only one time. His xStats and real stats have basically been spot on the 5 other seasons. I remember everyone saying he was an xStat underachiever again last year but by year's end his real numbers caught up.
  19. Scherzer vs. Severino Gausman vs. Lopez Berrios vs. Springs The A's play tonight and tomorrow so hopefully the pathetic Braves can make their bullpen work while we take advantage of the off day.
  20. Vlad's just getting unlucky. If he keeps performing the way he is, launch angle concerns included, his numbers will shoot up.
