  1. You wouldn't think he'd get that much more than Ohtani but due to his age I think you might be right.
  2. He should have just linked the Former Jays Thread and saved himself some time. The esteemed members of this board will no doubt give us daily updates on their success. Though if they struggle I suppose we don't get updates so maybe writing the article was necessary after all.
  3. Mattingly also seemingly fixed our RISP woes. Last year we hit worse with RISP. That carried into this year and I was assured that there was something wrong with our hitters and that it wasn't just statistical noise. But lo and behold, not only did Mattingly fix Vlad, he has this team hitting better with RISP on the year. This sad sack of a lineup has an 99 wRC+ overall but a 110 wRC+ with runners in scoring position.
  4. Ernie Clement is starting to get interesting and I wonder how he factors into the 2025 plans. Last year he figured out how to basically never strike out and everyone took notice. But what's kind of flying under the radar is that he also unlocked some power in AAA. It didn't show itself in his short big league audition but his .146 ISO this year shows that he's probably got a 40 grade power tool instead of a 30. That can play on the left side of the infield with a 55ish hit tool. Add in that his defense at 3B might be elite with some above average baserunning and he looks like he could be a starting-caliber 3B, even if his game is a little unconventional. I also think he could play SS and the small sample size metrics are good. But the team hasn't really played him there even when given the opportunity until recently. If he could handle SS then he'd be even better.
  5. They don't have to trade Bo. His value is in the toilet and if the team wants to contend, replacing his projections on just an 11.2M tax hit for 2025 is going to be tough to do. They could keep him and see where they are at at the trade deadline. If they are out of it, hopefully he's balling out in his walk year and they get more for him from some desperate contender than they would have in the offseason anyway. If they are in it, just take the surplus value he's providing in 2025 and the extra pick that comes with it. Definitely should explore trading him though. I think the dream scenario would be to sign Kim or Adames and trade Bo for something useful. That could really jumpstart our 2025 offseason if they could get a starting caliber player for Bo. Another option would be to sign Kim or Adames to play 3B and just let things play out with Bo and then slide Kim or Adames over to SS after the year.
  6. We will see how hitters adjust to Francis' new pitch arsenal but he and Yariel are looking like solid middle of the rotation options right now and both are under control through 2028 (Yariel) and 2029 (Francis). That helps the depth moving forward but it also adds flexibility to our offseason plans. At worst, Francis is probably solid depth and at best he fills the need for a starting pitcher. I'd probably still sign a starting pitcher but maybe instead of having to look at the Burnes' and Snells' we can drop down a tier and focus more on bats.
  7. Carlos Delgado
  8. I can't believe we got Francis for Rowdy Tellez lmao
  9. Our left handed hitters have been PATHETIC since Delgado left. Adam Lind leads the franchise in WAR since 2005 (1st year without Delgado) for a left-handed hitter with 6.9 WAR. Overbay, Biggio, Rasmus and Varsho round out the top 5. Eric Sogard with just 73 games is 8th and Reese McGuire is 9th. Embarrassing.
  10. We need a complete and total shutdown of the Camden Yards park dimensions until we can figure out what the hell is going on Never seen such blatant rigging of a park in my life. They should be fined draft picks on a yearly basis until they change it back.
  11. They actually have some really good stuff but they don't pump out enough material to sign up for perpetual monthly subscriptions. Severance is a top tier show for me, though it's only got one season so far. Foundation is also really good. Black Bird was decent. Agree on Ted Lasso- people love it but I thought it was just okay. For All Mankind and Masters of the Air are on my list.
  12. I like peanut M&Ms and peanut butter M&Ms. Mini M&M's are also really good. But I like smarties more than regular M&M's.
  13. Hot take: Smarties are better than M&M's
  14. Everyone always gushed about his curveball but it seemed so much different than his other pitches so it was probably easy to spot and hammer. Now he can use it as a show me pitch once in a while to throw off their timing or to try and steal a strike.
  15. There was a little fantasy-related blurb on Francis lately on Fangraphs. It had some nifty charts to but you'll have to click the link for those: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/bid-kid-adds-week-20/ Looks like he's changed his pitch mix quite a bit.
  16. The prospect rankings seem fairly tight for every team other than the very top and very bottom systems. The difference between 6th and 22nd probably isn't as great as people think. -Entering the year both teams had one 55 FV. -They had three 50 FVs and we had one. -We had one 45+ FV and they had zero. -We had seven 45 FVs and they only had 4. -We had more 40 FVs as well. I guess those two extra 50 FVs make them a Top 10 and us a bottom 10. But that's basically wiped about by one of our 40 FVs projecting for 3 WAR now and one of their 50 FVs projecting for 1.5. But even if their farm is better, it's basically wiped out by having a bigger payroll anyway.
  17. Yeah they are definitely similar but Schneider was doing fine up until 1 month ago. It could just be a slump and he projects pretty well and Biggio doesn't so there is a difference between the two. If Schneider starts sucking again next year then they can simply option him and then cut him lose when he's out of options. Biggio was ass for 4 years in a row and kept getting tendered contracts.
  18. Yeah finishing close to .500 means Will Wagner shows he's a good player, Horwitz continues to hit, Vlad continues to ball out, etc. That's likely to be better for the longterm future of the franchise then drafting 6th instead of 11th. And it would bode well for 2025. A year in which the Jays are seemingly going to be aggressive and try and contend, like it or not.
  19. Yeah it makes sense. Wagner at 2B and Horwitz at DH allows the team to focus on LF, 3B, SP, and 4 relievers to turn this team into a contender. Lol that's a lot of holes to fill. I'm also not ready to bury Schneider. With all these newfound lefties in the lineup he can sprinkle in at 2B or LF or maybe even DH as a platoon bat. It all fits pretty well.
  20. Yeah Bregman gets a lot of hate here. I think his personality subconsciously rubs people the wrong way but it's mostly because everyone assumes he's going to get some monster deal. Matt Chapman was projected to get 5 years, 120 mil and ended up getting 3 years, 54 mil. Need to monitor Bregman closely because he'd be a great add on the right deal. Same with Chapman.
  21. Yeah he could be a good trade piece. I also think he'd be fine as the DH. Nothing wrong with having one that can also play the field.
