  1. Sucks to lose Leo, but I get it. He’s added a lot of weight and may not be a plus defender at SS anymore. Not fat, just stockier now at 5'10", 215. His OBP is promising, but it relies a lot on getting beaned and his walk rate probably takes a dive without much power at the MLB level. It would be tough to option Lukes, who’s a solid player at the end of his prime, and DFA’ing Straw probably means losing him since he has five years of service time. The Power of Friendship wins. The team is high on Kasevich and he had a good spring, he might be the better option anyway. Leo doesn’t have a huge ceiling to me, and it’s possible no team claims him since everyone is making tough roster decisions right now. If the Jays need infield depth later, they could probably trade for someone similar without giving up much.
  2. It would be a good time to try out someone like Seabold. Give him a couple of appearances and if he sucks they can swap him out for Fisher or Yariel.
  3. Jason Martinez of Roster Resource was asked about Leo Jimenez making the OD roster and here is what he said: matty25 You have Leo Jimenez starting in AAA, but he’s out of options, meaning he’d have to clear waivers. Do the Jays really risk that? They could option Lukes instead, but that feels dirty given he was hitting 2nd in the World Series. Jason Martinez I guess we'll find out soon how much the Jays value Jimenez. Good chance he makes it thru waivers if he doesn't make the team. And, if not, the Jays can find similar players to stash in AAA for infield depth. Lukes was such an important part of the 2025 team. Would be insulting to send him back to AAA.
  4. Yeah that could definitely be the case. Kasevich's strong spring performance probably helps. And tbh, a lot of Jimenez's appeal was that he provided good SS defense. But watching him play I have a hard time believing that he would actually be any good there. Definitely looks more like a 3B/2B than SS.
  5. Yeah it seems like Leo Jimenez will make the team over Lukes as well. It's not really fair but Jimenez doesn't have options and Lukes does. The only way he makes it is if they don't think Jimenez brings much to the table so they don't care if they lose him and they like Lukes' vibes.
  6. One of the biggest goals of the WBC is to grow baseball internationally. The tournament clearly does that in countries where baseball is already established. For most teams it feels like a do or die event, unlike the US and Canada. But growing the game also means generating interest in non-baseball countries. Most of the teams are real. The only ones that aren't are Italy, Great Britain, and Israel but including them in the tournament still helps IMO. Baseball rarely makes headlines in Italy, but it does during the WBC, and that's a good thing.
  7. Should be ready: Cease Gausman Ponce Scherzer Lauer I guess he's going to be ready? Yesavage Won't be ready: Bieber Who knows? Berrios I still think we are okay on pitching depth for now but it's something to keep an eye on.
  8. Gee, thanks MLB. That makes me feel so much better.
  9. If Ernie Whitt finds the opportunity, I trust that he will do the right thing and intentionally bean Aaron Judge, hopefully somewhere on the wrist or hand. Canada may not win this battle, but it could be a great first step toward winning the war (the AL East).
  10. I'm sure Ernie Whitt has tried
  11. Yeah if we got every single Canadian to show up we'd basically be fine. But if the Pivetta's and Cade Smith's aren't going to show, it would be better if we could get some fake Canadians instead of the Brock Dykxhoorn's of the world...
  12. Mexico has a damn good roster. They get every single Mexican MLB player to show up, and then they get a bunch of Mexican-Americans and Randy Arozarena to play for them as well.
  13. We really need Tyler O'Neill to get going. He's exactly the type of player who could crush it in this tourney and carry us the next two games. Yesterday he hit two balls about 500 feet each but pulled them foul. We can beat Cuba and Puerto Rico but the bats have to wake up. The bullpen has been okay so far but I don't trust it much. We need to score runs, and the best way to do that is for the MLB guys to do damage while hopefully getting some BABIP luck from the fringe guys.
  14. Does the 50% whiff rate affect the grade?
  15. No prize necessary. I do it for the love of the game. And Brock already gave me this sweet Dugout Mug for helping name the site which was plenty generous:
  16. Finally getting the props I deserve around here. I knew I liked Brock the second he took over this site. The guy just oozes CLASS and he's a successful businessman who appreciates TALENT when he sees it.
  17. Yeah I went and checked Fangraphs Playoff Odds and nearly had a crash out at the Jays World Series odds for this year. I also refuse to read that new Jayson Stark article that everyone is gushing over. Kill me
  18. And? Congrats to AA on being better than Gord Ash and JP Highly Regardi I guess? Does this mean I need to continue to lick AA's nuts a whole decade later?
  19. Remember when Shapiro sent AA packing and the AA Fanboys thought they ran this board? lmao We don't hear too much from them these days do we?
  20. The Braves are off to a rough start. Kim offseason injury Schwellenbach out after elbow surgery Waldrep out after elbow surgery Strider throwing 93 Profar out for the year
  21. https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/bluejays/
  22. Milking Lauer for a million bucks isn't a huge deal in itself, but it's a good thing for the team to win the odd arb case. It shows players that the Jays can and will take you to arb and they have shown that they can win the cases. So players better bend some during settlement negotiations or they may end up losing. Could save the Jays millions in settlements over the coming offseasons.
