  1. Who would do such a thing?? Don't they have anything better to do than wage an online crusade over which catcher is better?
  2. Here's a question to ponder during the ASB. Would you guys extend a QO to Varsho this offseason?
  3. Ben Shulman has grown on me. I listen to a lot of the radio broadcasts, and whoever fills in for him made me realize Ben is a lot better than I originally gave him credit for. That other guy is not great.
  4. Jonatan Clase has a .250 xwOBA lol
  5. Yeah this team is ass but we are only 2.5 games back and we don't have s*** to trade anyway. I'd be a modest buyer and target things that traditionally don't cost a lot. #4 or 5 SP Crafty RP (not a flamethrower they cost too much) Right handed hitting corner OF
  6. Shipman isn't bad in the booth. But while we are on the topic of women in baseball, Jen Pawol might be the worst MLB umpire I've ever seen. As for your favorite Pride Parades being subjected to derogatory comments, I have no idea what that has to do with anything Jays or baseball related so I've unfortunately had to report you for politics.
  7. Hmm I kind of like the trade for both teams. Twins need the bullpen help and he goes from a low leverage guy for us to a middle innings guy for the Twins. He's probably one of their Top 4 or 5 relievers. It is interesting for the Jays as we are still trying to contend and he's better than Dallas and Corbin. But I guess the FO probably just wants our back of the bullpen types to be able to throw more than one inning and Nance is pretty much a one inning guy. And without options he becomes less valuable when we get to the trade deadline and try to add arms anyway? So just move him now for a 40 FV and we don't lose much, while also freeing up a roster spot for the trade deadline in 3 weeks.
  8. Bieber, Vlad, Springer and Kirk. Those 4 pull their heads out and the playoffs will be easy to make. Springer had a decent June and has looked good in limited action in July so his head may have actually breached his rectum already. Kirk and Bieber are coming off injury so it's a little more understandable when it comes to their struggles but it's time to start performing. Enough has been said about Vlad.
  9. Look at that bullpen chart. Must feel like an entire offseason's worth of rest for those guys after the hell they've been through this first half.
  10. And yes all it takes is two games against the lowly Giants for me to get back on the wagon THE PLAYOFFS WILL BE EASY TO MAKE
  11. The Padres kind of suck. They are .500 and have won 3 out of their last 4 but they lost 8 games in a row right before that. I like the pitching matchups for us so long as Bieber can pull his head out. Bieber vs. Sears Yesavage vs. Buehler Gausman vs. Marquez A series win and things look okay heading into the ASB. A sweep and we are right back in WC contention.
  12. If we get in could we make noise? You betcha. The D-Bags (Where are their fanboys btw? You guys swore they were a good team but they haven't done anything since) had a negative run differential and swept the Dodgers on their way to the World Series just two years ago and even the best AL teams aren't that scary. Cease-Gausman-Yesavage is a good playoff trio and Varland, Rogers, Hoff is a good backend bullpen. As of now I say go for it but it could go either way. Here's what the schedule looks like: @ Padres All-Star Break White Sox Rays @ Red Sox @ Nats Cardinals Trade Deadline
  13. Yeah I know a lot of posters here like to jerk off to prospect porn but I'd rather make a run at a Wild Card. It's not like our trade chips will fetch us much anyway. And if we buy, I think we can target the things that don't typically cost that much at the deadline. A backend SP, a right handed hitting corner outfielder, a bench bat, etc. Making the playoffs will really come down to Vlad, Springer, Kirk and Bieber pulling their heads out of their asses anyway.
  14. Definitely up in the air right now but I think we will probably be buyers because the AL is so horrendous. We are just 2.5 games out of WC3 and 3 games out of WC2.
  15. Nope, deferrals don't matter because they closed all the loopholes. They don't help smaller markets. Don't help bigger markets either.
  16. Deferrals don't matter whatsoever because they have closed off every single loophole through the net present value calculation and by making teams literally set aside that money in escrow accounts. It's just a way for players to avoid paying high state taxes which in turn levels the playing field for those teams.
  17. Probably just a ploy by the owners to get idiot fans who don't understand the deferral system on their side. This would be very bad for the Blue Jays and other teams who reside in high tax areas.
  18. I'm definitely not reading all of that but here is Jeff Hoffman by the numbers: 7th inning: .795 OPS against 8th inning: .694 9th inning: .718 So based on your theory that certain players perform better or worse depending on the inning, it would appear that the lights simply aren’t bright enough for Hoff in the 7th. He does much better in the 9th, when the lights are at their brightest. The 8th inning, however, apparently provides a medium level of brightness that creates juuuust the right amount of pressure for him, allowing him to perform at his absolute best. So we agree on using him in the 8th inning but where I disagree strongly is on using him in the 7th. There’s clearly not enough pressure. He’s too relaxed out there and he's not taking it seriously. He's probably thinking about dinner.
  19. Not surprised you don’t care about this young man’s health (or life) moving forward. You’ve always had questionable morals (usually involving truthfulness and/or courage). What’s shocking is that you said we still have World Series aspirations after subjecting us to your daily barrage of doomer ********.
  20. His stuff was electric today. He even hit 99 with his fastball. I do worry about his innings though. He's turning into quite the asset and we want him healthy for next year. Has never thrown more than 10 innings in any season since he debuted in pro ball 4 years ago.
  21. The Yankees have lost 7 in a row. Too bad we completely s*** the bed last week.
  22. Yeah he is one big dude. Listed at 6'1'' and 232 pounds and looks to be every bit of that.
  23. VLADDY WITH AN EXTRA BASE HIT* IT'S A CANADA DAY MIRACLE *Ignore that it was a hustle double
