I know but it's sort of the reality of that industry when you first start....he worked 7 days a week.....I'm not saying he didn't take time for lunch or supper, coffee....but 7 to 7 was pretty much the norm. I remember him saying he was in the office 40 of 48 hours one 2 day stretch...It's not like he wasn't making good money..although when you broke it down on an hourly wage it wasn't that impressive...lol.

where do you find all the time to post on the boards or watch the jays if you are an investment banker. My buddy worked 80 to 100 hours a week when he was grunt in the investment banking world..lol

The Jays scored the 9th most runs in the mlb and that was with a AAA team the last 5 weeks....they would have probably been 5th or 6th if the big guns played all year. The Jays defense was bad and the pitching was worse and the coaches responsible for these areas are staying? You can't help a player that refuses to listen...arencibia was terrible...no one could help him...how is a hitting coach going to help a player who swings at more pitches outside the strike zone than any player in the mlb.... AA should be the next to go.

yeah when he goes through a 2 month slump....like at the beginning of the season when he was 0 for 18 and everyone said he would blow...I stood by lindy. He was having quality at bats and success did follow. He had a bad July...he got hurt towards the end of june..is it surprising he had a rough July....every month except July he posted an .OPS above .700. There was no 2 month slump this year. The last half of the year after returning from the minors in 2012 he posted an .812 OPS....this year he's improved upon those numbers. It's been a year and a half of consistent quality production from Lind. He has fundamentally changed his approach. Technically he has a great swing with easy power. Lind has struck out far too many times when the pitch was actually off the plate and the ump got it wrong this year....the old lind didn't strike out looking...he struck out swinging. I don't need to see Lind produce the next 2 years for Arizona to realize he's a good hitter....but I guess you do....lol

ok keep lind and enjoy watching him hit bombs....sweet swinging adam lind.

and exactly how did you come to the conclusion reyes is a clubhouse cancer..... back to topic...AA may have given Lind a lot of rope, but he at least had some level of success at the mlb level. He did have some injuries and eventually he was sent down...and since coming back has produced at a high level for a year and a half now... JPA has never produced at a high level. He does the same thing over and over and over again. When there are runners at 2nd and 3rd and you're down by one you don't need to hit a home run....the guy never cuts down his swing, never focuses on moving the runner over. I have no stats to back this up, but from watching games JPA must have faced more balls out of the stikezone than any hitter in the mlb...especially in hitters counts. 2 and 0 counts...he rarely saw a ball in the strikezone after april because pitchers learned he was swinging at everything. He should be watching non stop film of his at bats in the offseason and film of hitters who actually understand the game. Even bautista who has a long free swing will at times situationally cut down his swing or try and hit it to the right side. He should be told he's starting the season in the minors until he learns to develop a better approach at the plate JPA is delusional..and he keeps doing the same thing over and over...it's not going to get any better until he changes.

EE played almost every game...he faced Righties 79% of the time because there are way more righties. It's not like keeping Lind means you have a part time player....He plays against righties and against average to below average lefties..meaning he plays 88% of the time....letting him sit the odd day against tough lefties isn't the end of the world. Lind currently ranks 15th in .OPS in the AL amongst 132 AL players with more than 300 at bats putting him in the 89 percentile. Lind has faced Lefties 20% of the time...if you dialed that back a bit next year his .839 OPS numbers would improve if he had the exact same year(obviously just for illustration purposes). When you consider all the high paid players,Prince Fielde,r just to name one who have lower OPS numbers this year....Adam Lind at 5 mil...(the 2 mil is being paid regardless) makes perfect sense. There's no way they don't pick up his option because he would be easy to trade if you didn't want him. I would keep him and focus on starting pitching and catching. As I post this Lind just missed a home run by a couple feet...but hit a rocket single....let's keep Lind!

If goins could replicate those offensive numbers along with the outstanding defense he's displayed that would be fantastic. I'm not sure he can produce those numbers for a year, but the Jays got nothing out of 2nd base this year. Ultimately whoever plays second isn't really going to decide the Jays future next year. A number 9 hitter shouldn't decide your team's fate. I just want a second baseman who plays good defense and can produce a .650ish ops... The team's fortune hinges on Dickey playing a bit better, Buehrle replicating his numbers, McGowan or Morrow or both staying healthy and performing and one other starting pitching hopefully a signing pitching reasonably well performing. They also need a catcher and hopefully a healthy Cabrera. The starting pitching needs to drop the ERA by a run..which would put them middle of the pack.....The offense as it is currently sits tied for 6th in runs scored this year and with fewer injuries and improvement at catcher the offense should again be a top tier offense.

I really supported JPA. His attitude never bothered me. I thought he would progress and show more patience at the plate, improve his OBP and average just slightly which combined with his power would make him a decent catcher even given his defensive liabilities. He's done the opposite...regressed and his unwillingness to adjust in situational at bats was frustrating beyond belief. I'm worried we won't be able to sign one of the top catchers and this is a definite need. One average catcher and one solid starting pitcher and I would call it a decent offseason. McCann is the obvious choice, but I think the jays will be priced out on this acquisition.

yeah it's not life threatening, but it definitely could have caused pain and effected his play. What exactly do you know about chronic back pain?

My wife has bad back pain....she's in good shape but her discs bulge giving pain down through her legs. A tumor pressing on your lower spine would cause the same pain. Many say Melky sucked because he didn't have steroids....He was never healthy and fought through pain all year. This definitely effected his play. He could be a wildcard if he comes to spring training and is healthy. He could potentially bring a lot to the team.

The question is how much will the Yankees spend on acquiring a free agent catcher....It' s not just a matter of the jays wanting ruiz or McCann, but it's their ability to sign one of them.

How are they going to get 2 of the best free agents on the market and how are they going to afford those two guys and sign one or two quality starters...the jays aren't raising payroll by another 40 mil....go after McCann...he's the biggest need.....let choo sign somewhere else and use that money on Garza..

While there may be more that like the NFL than the argos in Toronto it's pretty clear by all the money Rogers lost from bringing Bills games to Toronto that there aren't enough NFL fans to bring an NFL team to Toronto. Giving away half your tickets isn't exactly the best business model. You don't think the NFL is aware of the lack of success those games had up North. LA is going to get a team before Toronto ever does. The NFL is obviously a great marketing machine, has fantasy football and gambling. Those attributes are appealing to me too. The CFL has limitations with only 8 teams, but it expands to 9 next year and potentially 10 if they can get one in the maritimes. The CFL is on it's best financial ground it's been on in a long time. The CFL games have had higher average viewership in Canada than the NFL the last few years which is why their new TV Deal is worth 3 times what the old one was and kicks in next year. Out west the CFL draws extremely well. It's a great product and very affordable entertainment. If I could go watch Ricky Ray and Chad Owens take on take on Durant and Dressler for 25 bucks...I'd be there in a heartbeat.

Ricky Ray although hurt...when he gets back is a great player to watch. It's a shame some of you won't watch the Argos which is filled with some entertaining players. The biggest thing holding getting grass isn't the argos...it's the stadium. The logistics of getting grass into a dome given where it is situated is not easy.

You have to have a list of 7 or 8......but what are you going to do..have McGowan come through spring training...if he's healthy say...You have the most talent and are throwing the ball the better than anyone in the rotation, but we're not going to start you because we think you will get injured? No...you play the kid...if he get's hurt you move on down the list...when you're thin in terms of talent in the rotation as it is, you have to use your best arms. The same naysayers are the guys who said he would not get back to the team prior to this season starting and they said if he did come back he would be a shadow of his former self. Well he did make it back and he is still throwing the ball outstandingly well...better than ever really and he has not had a shoulder injury this year. He's got the magic delabar program beans now and if he could stay healthy for an entire year he could be a special starter given his low salary and the potential value he could bring. I'm not saying don't go sign a starter or two in the offseason...but the free agency crop doesn't look that exciting and I'm not sure what the jays are willing to spend.
