  1. Or Steamer that has him projected to have .5 wins in 379 PA. Projections are great except when they get in the way of you aplauding ever move Shatkins makes. If Shatkins goes and signs JD Martinez or Rhys Hoskins. I will be the first to agree with the move. You guys are tripping over yourselves to rationalize and approve of this garbage signing.
  2. Yes Varsho is a good defender. No one is questioning that. He's not a very good hitter. I don't think he will be a good hitter. He has too many holes. I think there's still trade value. People who think they can fix him. His contact rates just aren't there. I would love to see him traded. This team needs offense. I'd rather sacrifice run prevention for adding runs scored. We gave up 5 runs in 2 games in the playoffs and lost both due to a lack of offense. I also acknowlege we're not going to trade him. We're going to sign a DH and run the same team as last year out with IKF replacing Chapman and minus Hicks. That's depressing.
  3. He was 18% below league average in 21 and 16% below league average in 22. He was 18% below leaague avg in 23. What's your definition of hitting? He's dogshit. I have no doubt Martinez, Shneider and Biggio will be better than IKF.
  4. He's dogshit. 6.8 mil of free agent dollars should have been allocated to premium free agents. Martinez, Schneider, Biggio, Espi, Barger, Horowitz, clement, Lopez, Palmegiani. They have cover for 2nd, 3rd, outfield. This front office is too stubborn to realize Varsho is never going to hit. This team needs offense.
  5. Players like Schneider drafted in the 28th round is blind luck. You're throwing darts at a dartboard that late in the draft. My concern looking at 2017 to 2020 the only player drafted or from international signings making a contribution is Manoah who most view as a back end to mid rotation starter. I think he'll bounce back and be a pretty good pitcher, but that's it. I really think Tiedemann will be a great player, but time will tell. You look at Baltimore and it's easily to get jealous. Is Atkins getting the job done? Kirk was a 30K signing made by an area scout that had worked for the Jays for decades. Wouldn't have mattered who the GM was we would have signed Kirk. The farm system is lacking. Atkins has been given a luxury tax payroll. The IKF signing is too much. It's a waste of money. We should have moved on from him in the off season.
  6. He's looked heavy the last couple years. Seems like he golfs in the offseaon every day. Clearly using a cart and drinking beer. He's sort of taking the game for granted. If he actually put in teh work and came to camp hungry and fit I think he could still be a solid player.
  7. I have nothing against Stro. I'd gladly take him back on the right circumstances. We need a frigging bat. Our 7 8 9 hitters are Varsho, IKF, KK. That's hot garbage. Can we please sign Hoskins or JD Martinez pronto.
  8. IKF sucks. There's no upside. Don't talk yourself into believing that. Espinal also sucks. He costs 12 mil less. I'll go with the cheap utility guy. IKF will receive significant playing time. Espinal would not have. This signing probably took 200 ABS from Babe Schneider. Wouldn't be shocked if we traded Schneider.
  9. Why would the Jays start an inferior player in Varsho to KK. Oh wait, they think he's going to turn it around and hit..lol. Varsho sucks.
  10. Moving Espinal. Espinal 4.3 FWAR over the last 3 years in 991 PA. IKF 3.3 FWAR over the last 3 years in 1569 PA. IKF projected to earn 12 mil more dollars over the next 2 years. Like WTF.
  11. f*** me. If we've turned into the Yankees and are spending that level of money on back ups, can we start spending some big money on some real players.
  12. That's too much money for a guy who's only going to get 250 -300 PA a year. He'll likely get 500 to 550 PA next year and that's depressing.
  13. 154 games at 3rd is not a large enough sample size to give me any level of confidence his D will overcome that gawd awful bat. Don't be shocked if he doesn't put up 20 OAA at 3rd next year.
  14. look up his offensive stats too. Dude can't hit during the year when he gets to face garbage number 5, 6 and 7 starters. You think he's going to hit in the playoffs against elite pitching? This team isn't being built to win in the playofffs. We need some f***ing offense.
  15. It's not nothing. He's a garbage signing. We need offense. We're blocking offense from coming to the major leagues. Just bring up Martinez. None of you would have been happy running out Espinal at 3rd this year and he's put up more FWAR than IKF the last 3 years in half the ABs. This signing is beyond dogshit.
  16. well that's not going to help me drink less in 2024.
  17. Who are you trading for in the 3rd baseman market? There isn't anyone except Suarez. You better get on in quickly. I can't see Houston giving up Bregman. Machado would be nice if they ate half of the contract left, but that's probably not happening.
  18. Varsho has had an xwoba of .298 and .302 the previous 2 years and somehow steamer expects a .322 woba from Varsho next year. KK's getting the massive old guy regression from Steamer. I fully expect KK to be the better player next year. The league has adjusted to Varsho more than he's adjusting to pitching. He has major holes in that swing.
  19. Hoskins or Martinez. Would like it if they got 1 of them. Hoskins comes with a potential draft pick. Martinez would sign for 2 years.
  20. A realistic one they might entertain is Manoah, Varsho and lower level prospect. We'd have to sign Bellinger or KK to play centre if that happened.
  21. Well you're just posting stupid s*** to get a rise out of people. It was pretty obvious when you ranked Chapman ahead of Ramirez at 3rd. Even casual fans aren't that stupid.
  22. Yes, but Oritz was a long time red sox and he wanted to play there. If you're not willing to assume some risk, you won't get the player. We're not getting Martinez on a 1 year deal. I'll gladly go 2 years on a guy who hasn't had any major injury history with a statcast page that looks like this. I'd extend to 3 with a lower AAV. He's worth the risk. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/j-d-martinez-502110?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  23. I'd gladly take Martinez on a 2 year deal. I think he's going to hit for another 4 or 5. He's in the mold of Nelson Cruz.
  24. Yeah...we're obviously have to trade stuff back. Manoah would be in the package. I'd be more than happy to give up Varsho too if we could sign KK back.
  25. I like it. I think Yelich actually has some upside and coudl be a 30 homer guy again. If we're making the big trade you should go get JD Martinez to DH. Steamer has Schneider projected to have a 113 wRC+ next year. That would be one fierce lineup.
