  1. I had the same feeling when we signed Tanner Roark. Yuck!
  2. Just saw a cllip of Kirk hitting on Twitter. Looks more like 10 to 20lbs. I was hoping for better. I wish he would just get in shape. His talent is ridiculous.
  3. Nothing intrigus me more right now than the reports of how Alejandro Kirk looks coming into camp. Will it be looks like he lost 10lbs, 20 to 30lbs, 30-40 lbs, or more than 40lbs, almost unrecognizable and a massive transformation. Someone should post a poll for predictions. I'm not good at that s***.
  4. No team other than the Jays had more than 2 starters go 30+ starts. We had 4. It's easy to fall into the trap of feeling invincible, but what transpired last year is clearly not the norm. Injuries could happen to any one of the big 4. You always need depth for starting pitching. Tiedemann is getting closer though.
  5. Turner makes this team better, but there were so many other choices. I think we're pretty much done now. Sad off season really.
  6. modern day record for more than 100 PA and no his hard hit percentage was 51.3%, which is almost top 10th percentile. His xwoba was still .325 last year.
  7. There's no reason not to sign JD on a minor leauge contract and see how he looks. He could be healthy after hardly playing. I think he's been in Dad mode the last few years and not particularly motivated. He want to play in Toronto. His wife is from Toronto. Happy wife, happy life. He might just have an .800+ OPS season left in the bat. No minor league deal is a bad deal.
  8. You need to look at his 2022 season when he was nails. He wasn't a physical specimin by any means. He is in better shape and looks stronger than last year or 22. More than anything he had an arm issue last year. He's going to bounce back. The doubters will conviently forget what they said in the offseason!
  9. I thought Kim was a free agent after this year. If he's not a free agent until 27 it's probably going to cost you more than Manoah.
  10. There's also value in gettting Manoah back to where he was 2 years ago pitching 6 or 7 innings as a 5th starter...lol. I personally hope he comes into camp in great shape and shoves.
  11. Yes, let's pencil in a guy who didn't play last year and pitched 56 games the year prior all as a reliever as our 5th starter..lol. I like the signing, but why don't we just let him do what he did really well in Japan. Let's look at him as a dominant reliever. If we can stretch him out and utilize him as a starter at some point that's a bonus. Why the Manoah hate?
  12. You're putting a lot of faith in the numbers and 87 innings and ignoring 300+ innings. He came into camp out of shape and had a arm issue and had to adjust to the pitch clock. If you've done it before, you can do it again. I fully expect Manoah to be better this year. He's a competitive dude and his slider will be better this year.
  13. The Yankees luxury tax payroll is at 300 mil. They could go full Cohen and push it to 330 to 350. Feels like the Yankees woke up and realized they are the Yankees this off season.
  14. It happens. Jays offered EE 4 and 80 and he signed for 3 and 60. Players can't wait to get to free agency because of what their agents promise them and sometimes their market doesn't materialize. I'm not shocked that Chapman is sitting around 5 year 18 mil AAV. He's not young, he had a terrible second half and defense declines in your mid 30s. His value is mostly in the defense he brings day in and day out.
  15. They are putting money into an escrow account. This is the thing people don't understand. They aren't just outlaying 2 million dollars for Ohtani. It's not 70 mil but it's the 46 mil a year that counts against the luxury tax. The dodgers have a ridiculous lineup right now. The pitching staff is fragile, but I'm sure Kershaw will practically play for free if he's able to get back mid summer.
  16. The Dodgers luxury tax payroll is at 300 mil and they will likely add another 30 mil in payroll, plus the 50 mil posting fee which doesn't count against the luxury tax. I mean their total outlay in dollars will be close to a half billion at the end of the day.
  17. Teo basically signed an 19 mil deal with the deferal. Was no one willing to sign Teo for more than 2 years at 18 to 19 mil a year? Big gamble on his part if he had a 3 or 4 year deal on the table. A repeat of last year and his offers will be cut in half next year.
  18. It feels like it's time to sign Josh Donaldson to a minor league contract with a solid 5+ mil if he makes the major league roster. What's the hold up?
  19. Just a magic 8 ball, but I do listen to interviews and commentary by the GM..lol
  20. We're just over a month from spring training. We will get a DH and possibly a swing man or a reliever. That's pretty much it. I don't see a major trade shaking up the roster incoming. I see a slim outside shot of Bellinger incoming which would allow us to rotate the DH spot. That's only if his market drops significantly in price.
  21. I mean it's the exact same team that ended last year except IKF for Chapman and some reliever will replace hicks. Pedersen will replace Belt. Yes, I 2,3 or even all 4 of Vlad, Kirk, Manoah and Springer to bounce back, but someone will falter. One of the big 4 starters from last year will have a lessor year, or someone will get hurt. KK will have a hard time repeating his numbers offensively. Players have up and down years. Will the bullpen be as good next year? We'll be a good team, but we could have risked something to be a great team. We are playing it safe.
  22. I said IKF is Dogshit. I mixed in commentary about Varsho with IKF. As the roster is constructed, I would rather sacrifice defense for offense. If Varsho is .680 to 7.20 OPS guy I think he is, I'd rather trade him for offense seeing as how we resigned KK. This isn't going to happen. I fully hope I'm wrong and he's .760 yo .780 OPS guy some think he can be. Varsho has some real power, so it's within the realm of possiblity. I think he has real trade value today. If he puts up an OPS of .680 this year his trade value plummets. You can take solace in the fact that I'm wrong a lot. We're never more convicted about our opinions than the off season when we don't have daily games providing data to humble our opinions. I still don't like the IKF signing. I hope we get a legit DH bat soon. Im not all doom and gloom. I think the only thing holding Kirk back from posting an OPS north of .800 is getting in shape. If the pictures we've seen are accurate he's on that path. I expect Vlad to bounce back as well. Can we get Hoskins or Martinez, even Soler. That would make me less grumpy.
  23. It's bizarre how you're cherry picking stats now. Away 120 wRC+ yes that's sustainable. Let's dive in to small sample size anomolies. Varsho had a .775 OPS in August. A .739 OPS in Sept/OCT. He also had .765 OPS in June with awful April and July's. Players are streaky. Was his last two months a product of the toe tap? I guess time will tell. I hope I am wrong on him. I see him as 5% to 10% below league average hitter, which is better than IKF..lol You think he's 5% to 10% better than league average. That's not miles apart. We shall see.
  24. His contact rate is 77% for his career. League average is 80%. His hard contact rate is 36.3% for his career, which is roughly 20th percentile. Combine the two and you get an xwoba of .302 which was 19th percentile. I feel like these numbers aren't getting better. The book is out on him. If he makes adjustments and hits well next year, feel free to call me an idiot. I just don't see it with Varsho. He's really susceptible to high velocity up in the zone. I also didn't like the IKF move. It's just my opionion. I actually didn't mind the KK move as I'm not a big Varsho fan. I'd love the KK move if we traded Varsho. I'm married, so yeah, I need to get laid. Thanks for your concern..lol.
  25. You need to make it to a strip club.
