  1. Becomes a FA after 2025 so still has one more year left of control. He's nothing special - No. 4/5 starter with a bit of upside though he should fit in well with the Brewers. Gregory Barrios was ranked as No. 21 on the Brewers Top 30 Prospect list. Makes you think the return for Kikuchi might be along the same lines. Kikuchi would be a better arm to have down the stretch but would only be a year rental.
  2. A team desperate for starting pitching at the deadline. The question is which contending team could best use him and ignore some of his underlying issues?
  3. He's still providing innings which is a plus and has proven to be durable. Would try to unload his contract however if possible. After 2025/2026, looks like he could be an albatross.
  4. Encouraging outing from YRod today! Would be nice if he could establish himself as a member of the rotation moving forward.
  5. Sucks especially since he's been getting red hot with the bat. Jays can't catch a break this season.
  6. Agreed. Doesn't get the fanfare as Ohtani, Judge, Harper, and some others.
  7. They would have been in a better position standing wise, but this team status quo still would have huge flaws and wouldn't be good enough unless Atkins got creative at the trade deadline.
  8. YRod has looked great! Nice bounce back from him and hope he builds off this start. Looks like he could be a nice rotation piece if he could be consistent!
  9. Yeah Varsho should be in CF and the Jays should have targeted a bat with pop to put in LF, which I think a majority of posters on here preferred. Bringing back KK in an everyday role was a mistake.

Loved Berezin when I was a kid. I remember Berezin was one of the fastest players on the ice. His skill and speed were just top notch. Fun player to watch and cheer for! RIP

That's not bad at all. Glad to see him back!
  12. A 4 game sweep of the Yankees would be awesome!
  13. Would have been nice if the Jays could have got a better player than Varsho for Moreno, but what's done is done now. Varsho is definitely a nice player and has some offensive upside that could still be unlocked. We don't know how the rest of MLB teams valued Moreno but I do think out of all 3 Jays catchers, teams valued Moreno more than let's say Jansen and Kirk. As well, at the time you can't blame the Jays for keeping Kirk/Jansen who were both proven commodities over Moreno. It's a moot point. Overall, the trade has looked good so far even if Varsho doesn't take that next step offensively. Sucks that Kirk turned into a pumpkin, but he still could provide value defensively even with his awful bat. He does need another catcher to pair with since I don't think he could hold up and catch 130-140 games per season. After Jansen leaves, the catching situation doesn't look that promising. I don't think Moreno is toast and it's ridiculous to suggest that given his age. He still could blossom into a very solid offensive player. I bet if Moreno was still on this Jays team, patience would be still be preached with him. But since he was traded and with Arizona, he's now completely a total bust.
  14. Preaching patience also works the other way as well with Moreno. He's still only 24 so even with some of his offensive struggles earlier on this season, he is far from being a finished product. Varsho offensively I think still has some more untapped potential. He should be good for 3-4 WAR this season when all is said and done which is fantastic. He's an easy player to root and cheer for as well.
  15. If they could sweep the Yankees (which I think is a must at this point), that would be making a huge statement.
  16. Blair asked him some tough questions. Glad he did. The issue with Atkins is that he has never built a good enough "all-around roster" during his tenure here. Just always feels like one area on the team is lacking when it shouldn't. Whether in 2021, it was the BP or in 2022 was the defensive inabilities, or in 2023 and 2024 which was the lack of power in the lineup. Not blaming the bullpen this season on him, though you can blame the lack of player development and drafting, for not having any arms waiting in the wings. Otherwise, overall I think Atkins has done a lot of great things while being GM here. He's built one of the strongest and durable rotations over the last two years, he's built a really solid pen in 2023, has improved the teams defense greatly in 2023 and has made some great FA signings over the years here as well. He just hasn't been able to take this roster to the next level, which is the disappointing and frustrating thing given some of the talent accured over the last couple of years.
  17. Nice to see George Springer have a monster night! We just need him to be like Stanton has been with the Yankees offensively. Would take that in a heartbeat!
  18. I don't see any team giving him a monster deal unless he goes out and has a 5-6 WAR season with 40-50 HR's in 2025. I think he signs a short term deal to rebuild his value or something similar to Bellinger's contract with the opt-outs. Otherwise, if Vlad keeps the status quo, no team is giving him 200M lol.
  19. He's still only 24 as well. Up to 1.0 WAR and a 118 wRC+. He's been playing everyday now with Acuna on the shelf. Was pretty awful in April and May as a platoon bat. Nice buy low trade from Atlanta in the offseason. They had to take on some salary from Gonzales and White, but worth the potential reward if Kelenic breaks out. Still some untapped offensive potential with his bat.
  20. Hope Aaron Judge could stay healthy into his mid-to-late 30's. Definitely one of the faces of MLB and one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Looks like he may even surpass his monster 2022 season! Unbelievable!
  21. Cleveland's Jhonkensy Noel hit a HR in his first MLB AB. Very cool! He has displayed some serious raw power in the minors, though he strikes out a lot.
  22. Atkins has to actually be a buyer and make upgrades to the roster where it matters (the lineup and now bullpen). Staying status quo won't be good enough. I hope they could add as well at the deadline and sneak into WC3 and go on a run.
  23. You think some team is going to offer Vlad a $200M contract after 2025? It's possible if he goes out and has a 5-6 WAR season and hits 40-50 HR's in 2025, but if he stays status quo, I see him either taking a Bellinger type of contract with opt outs.
