  1. If he gets traded and ends up all of a sudden going on a tear with his new team, you definitely know something is up. I don't think he plays like this during a contract year. Maybe wanted to get traded dating back from last season and decided to not giving his 100% this season to try and force his way out.
  2. See if they would take Berrios as well. Kikuchi though would be a terrific fit with the Dodgers.
  3. Great time to buy low lol.
  4. If we could get 2022 Springer back offensively, that would be swell!
  5. 2004, 2009 and 2013 were depressing years in my books. 2004 because coming off an 86-win season in 2003, and with some youngsters like Wells, Hinske, Phelps, O-Dog as a core, I was excited heading into the 2004 season. Thought they would have built off that 2003 season but everything went wrong from the get go in 2004. Doc wasn't in Cy Young form and injured, bullpen sucked despite some additions in the offseason, it was Delgado's walk year as well and every Jays fan knew the team didn't have the money to re-sign him. Phelps ended up sucking even more and traded for Erik Crozier lol. Hinske was awful as well and never returned to his 2002 ROY form. 2009 because the Jays came off a solid 2008 season, but they lost AJ Burnett after he opted out, and the season already had a damper knowing that McGowan and Marcum were going to miss all of 2009 after getting injured during the 2008 season. It was Doc's last season in Toronto, and we kinda all knew he was going to be traded in the offseason. Their starting rotation in 2009 was awful after Doc. Wells was awful in 2009 and Rios ended up being traded that summer. Recall that was the season he was outside of the ROM and had that interaction/argument with a fan "Who gives a Fawk." It was cool to see Adam Lind and Aaron Hill have breakout years offensively. 2013 because AA made a bunch of big moves and it looked the Jays were ready to take that next level. Dickey was never in Cy Young form, they had injuries, Lawrie never amounted to anything, Josh Johnson was toast lol. Depressing season considering the high expectations after that busy offseason the Jays had and with guys like Bautista, EE already in the fold.
  6. Sucks they blew a win for Kikuchi after that performance he had.
  7. I know the Jays really don't have many options out of the pen. When I saw Trevor Richards coming out of the pen, he looked scared. In my head, I said to myself he doesn't look that confident and is going to blow it. Then Dan Shulman makes the comment on how Richards only save was a 3 inning save in a 14-7 game and how a save in a 1-run game is much different lol. Perfect sequencing haha. Sucks because they could have squeezed out a win. If Richards doesn't hesitate and fields the ball, game over likely. As well, with the winning run on third, you gotta be darn careful that you don't spike that changeup. Wasn't Chad Green available? Just a perfect way to sum up the Jays season.
  8. Yeah I don't think it makes sense to trade Bo when his value is this low. Not even sure if Postseason bound teams would want to pay a high price for him at the deadline anyways, given the season he's had. Best for the Jays to either move him in the offseason or at next years trade deadline in hope he builds back up his value.
  9. Yeah the Braves outfield could use another bat with Acuna out the entire year and Harris II also on the IL and struggling offensively. Kelenic has been really solid for them. Harris II should return sometime after the All-Star break, though they could upgrade over a Duvall/Rosario platoon. Springer wouldn't be a bad option for the Braves, though doubt the Braves take on the rest of his contract unless Jays ate some money. Like you said, they really don't have a bad contract to move in a deal like this.
  10. Yeah trade guys on expiring contracts. Gausman and Bassitt are moveable, though would prefer keeping them for 2025. Would move Berrios and try to escape that contract if you could more than anything. Wouldn't trade Bo or Vlad unless blown away like you said. Hope they both come up big during their contract years in 2025, which would help the Jays contend or at least improve their trade value. Vlad is too valuable for off-field reasons as well like you said.
  11. Any team that desperately needs an OF and who could eat most of his salary? Might be a challenge trade scenario where the Jays also take on a bad contract of another player/pitcher.
  12. Volpe is still just 23. Wouldn't write him off as a productive bat just yet.
  13. Obviously they wouldn't lol but it shows you that Berrios currently wouldn't even be worth SWR straight up. Just gotta hope this season is a blip on the radar and Berrios returns to being a 3-4 WAR pitcher for another couple of years.
  14. One of Atkins strengths over the last couple of years has been signing veteran starters to short term deals. They can patch up the rotation easily if they traded Berrios. Let's just hope he doesn't sign Tanner Roark or Chase Anderson.
  15. If they could trade Berrios, that would be ideal. Get rid of that crippling contract! Would prefer to keep Gausman and Bassitt around for 2025. Doubt they trade Yariel given they signed him to a 5 year deal last offseason.
  16. Montgomery was pretty solid last year. 4.3 WAR last season and previous years had 2.7 and 3.2 WAR seasons. Kikuchi's career high was 2.6 WAR last season and before that was quite awful. Arguably, Montgomery at last years trade deadline was a better arm than Kikuchi at this trade deadline.
  17. Yeah exactly. Also, he's only 23-years-old so there is likely some room for growth. Will be at league minimum in 2025 and 2026 as well, and won't be a FA until 2030. Right now, SWR is a more valuable asset than Jose Berrios given his age, years of control and the decline in Berrios performance. That Berrios contract is going to sting in a couple of years unless Berrios returns to his 2023 form.
  18. Yeah 15 starts isn't enough time to judge the type of arm SWR could be. Concerns are the low K/9 (7.42) so he's not going to be anything flashy. Also, seems like he's just a 5 to 6 inning pitcher and can't get pushed anymore than that. Solid ERA (3.48) and FIP (3.86) so far and a 1.2 fWAR. Likely settles in as a No. 4/5 starter who possibly could get lucky the odd season and pitch to slight higher expectations. View him just as a 2 WAR type of arm. Berrios this season has only accumulated 0.3 fWAR with a 6.81 K/9 and a 5.07 xFIP. SWR has provided 4x more value so far this season. Moving forward given their ages and contract situations, would rather have SWR over Berrios. Obviously if we look at Berrios after the trade to the Jays in 2021 and in 2023, he looked like a very good and durable No. 2/3 starter and helped the Jays make Postseason runs in each of those seasons, whereas SWR wouldn't have. Right now, there are huge concerns with Berrios given his low K rate and high FIP. How long can his 3.76 ERA hide the fact on how bad he really has been this season? Gotta hope he bounces back in 2025 and returns to being a 3-4 WAR type of arm, especially with that contract he has.
  19. The type of language used and intention isn't a joking matter. I don't care if they throw shots or jabs back at me, though not using or joking about something considered a sensitive matter.
  20. It's a baseball forum geez.
  21. Can't take a joke geez. You kept adding fuel to the discussion after that and even posted chat messages from Fantrax. I wasn't smack talking Bo at all haha. Never knew that pointing out his struggles this season and the fact that his offensive profile is similar to Javier Baez is smack talking him.
  22. Kinda sad you're happy to see an MLB ballplayer getting injured, possibly break their hand. He's supposed to be back in the lineup tomorrow.
  23. I'm not following you about the offer. You kept adding fuel to the conversation lol.
  24. I explained that in a previous post. Given my position, I'm willing to roll the dice on a bounce back season from Bo. His struggles this season don't affect my team at all. Whereas someone who is contending, a struggling Bo isn't helping them and Correa as an upgrade given his results thus far, the league scoring settings and given his age, isn't a bad option to ponder.
