  1. Why has Gausman been awful at home, whereas on the road he's been dominant? Weird splits.
  2. Wildcard spot #3 will be easy to make!
  3. Stanton was pretty decent for them when he was healthy. Looks like Yankees are in a bit of a free fall. Orioles should take the division.
  4. Also, don't forget Zach Eflin as a trade candidate. Rays likely move him as well. A lot of arms are available, so Jays will have competition.
  5. Haha this was just off the top of my head. Not sure how much Santander or Hernandez get as FA's but given what we saw the market was for corner OF bats last offseason, at most they probably get what Soler did if they sign a multi-year deal. Bregman will probably cost a bit, but after a down season who knows what his market is like. Don't really need to sign Bregman since IKF has looked solid when he's been on the field. Ideally, having IKF as a super utility guy would be perfect. Just need to add offense at other places in the lineup. Burnes will cost a lot for sure but if you can get him for something similar to what Gausman signed for a couple years ago, would do it. Might be able to sign Fried on a 4-5 year deal worth $20M AAV or so. You might be able to sign Bieber to a short term deal with opt outs because he might want to rebuild value and test the market again.
  6. You should be so lucky that I offered you Correa in a deal for Bichette lol.
  7. The Jays don't need to go scorch earth. They could still contend in 2025 if they actually do something in the offseason that upgrades the club. Atkins needs to be pro-active! Keep Vlad and Bo through the trade deadline. Can always revisit trading them both in the offseason when teams might be looking for a potential stud player. If not, keep them around in 2025 and hope their bats explode during contract years! Ownership does have the money, so they can re-tool for 2025. They'll need a couple things however: a top starter, some bullpen pieces, two big bats. If the Jays had the trade pieces, trade for outfielder Brent Rooker. If not, then sign some FA's. C Jansen/Kirk 1B Guerrero Jr 2B Horwitz SS Bichette 3B Bregman LF Hernandez CF Varsho RF Santander DH Springer/ or anyone FFS BN Kiner-Falefa BN Schneider BN Clement BN Kirk/Jansen If they can't sign Bregman, then roll with Kiner-Falefa at 3B again and strengthen the bench. Rotation: Gausman Burnes/Bieber/Fried Bassitt Berrios Rodriguez/Manoah Sign a FA who could start and pitch out of the pen like Jake Junis. The Postseason in 2025 will be easy to make.
  8. Will be interesting to see the return Crochet gets. It's going to be crazy expensive. What a season he's been having. I don't see the Rangers going scorched earth, but they could probably move their arms who are on expiring contracts (Heaney & Scherzer). Eovaldi has a player option worth $20M if he eclipses 300 innings combined between the 23-24 seasons. Gray is still under control for 2025. We'll see how the Mets play in July. They likely decide to buy or sell right till the last minute.
  9. Yeah his strong K/9 and him being a southpaw definitely are an advantage for a Postseason team if they decided to use him out of pen.
  10. From looking at the standings currently: Jack Flaherty Erick Fedde Trevor Williams Tyler Anderson Jameson Taillon Nathan Eovaldi Andrew Heaney Max Scherzer Jon Gray Jose Quintana Luis Severino Sean Manaea If Rangers don't pull back into the race, I could see them moving some of their vets. Mets sit at 42-42 right now, but I could see them selling some of those rotation pieces if they fall out of it by the end of the month. Jack Flaherty looks like he will be the top arm available. He's having a really darn good year. Fedde also seems like he will be moved and has been really good (2.4 fWAR).
  11. You should really consider taking Carlos Correa in the LOD.
  12. It's not silly to compare them at all. Career wise, both have produced similar results to date. Civale has a career 7.5 fWAR and 4.11 FIP whereas Kikuchi has a career 6.1 fWAR with a 4.67 FIP. Neither have been anything special. They're both No. 4 starters with #3 upside. In terms of trade value, Jays likely get a similar prospect for Kikuchi given that he is only a two month rental and since both have had similar careers to date. Kikuchi is having the better season so far, so yeah he likely helps a Postseason team more unless Civale returns to his 2023 form in the second half. Also, the higher K/9% and being a southpaw are both advantages Kikuchi has as well. Just saying Jays likely get a similar prospect for Kikuchi as what the Rays got for Civale. Unless Kikuchi was having a Cy Young caliber season, Jays aren't getting anything special for Kikuchi other than a lottery ticket.
  13. Would you want to play at the Trop? Haha.
  14. Civale has a higher career WAR than Kikuchi and is also 4-years-younger with another year left of control. They have been pretty much similar throughout their careers. I agree, if I'm a GM looking to upgrade my rotation for a Postseason run, right now I would take Kikuchi given his higher K/9% and more success this season thus far. Other teams may have different opinions. Maybe the Brewers feel like with a change of scenary, Civale turns things around and returns to his 2023 form. They probably value the low salary and extra year of control as well more than some other Postseason clubs would. Maybe some teams are concerned about Kikuchi being consistent and returning to being a jekyll and hyde type arm down the stretch and in a short Postseason series. It's possible. I'm sure some clubs still view Kikuchi as a No 4/5 with mid-rotation upside. As a rental, he's not bringing much more in return than what the Brewers gave up for Civale.
  15. Yeah very frustrating indeed. He could either look like a replacement level 1B or could be an elite power bat. Watch him have a huge season in his contract year. He'll smash 50-60 HR's with a 1.000 OPS haha and be a 7-8 WAR player.
  16. Civale was pretty much the same as Kikuchi in 2023 in terms of value. They've had pretty much similar careers. No 4/5 starters with mid-rotation upside. Kikuchi has been much better than Civale this season though. Civale is cheaper and has one more year left of control, so a team like the Brewers definitely would value him more. At the end of the day, Kikuchi probably brings in the same return as Civale or maybe a bit less. If Kikuchi was pitching like he did in April and in the AL Cy Young conversation, he would have got the Jays a very nice piece.
  17. He's a puppet pretty much for the front office.
  18. You debbie downer!
  19. Only Bryce Harper, Freddie Freeman and Christian Walker have a higher WAR than Vlad. In terms of wRC+ this season, Vlad ranks 3rd amongst all qualifying first baseman. He's turned his season around and is actually producing as one of the top 1B in baseball.
  20. My new avatar on here!
  21. Yeah I would prefer having Kikuchi as well for a Postseason run. He would be more of a difference maker and could start in a WC matchup or short series for sure. Brewers probably value the extra year of control and low salary. Civale was pretty good last season: 8.53 K/9, 3.57 FIP, 2.5 WAR. At the end of the day, he wasn't any different than what Kikuchi was in 2023. This season, completely different story. Kikuchi has been way better.
