    Soto ain't coming here. Maybe they have a chance at Bregman since he's already 30 but not sure how many years you would want to go with him especially given his age and his struggles this season.

    Yeah would be nice to clear that money and contract. Berrios is a solid arm who could eat innings, but he's no ace or anything. Having a solid season still, so there likely would be takers. Free up that money!

    Yeah you make a good point about keeping Bassitt for that very reason. Jays would need to sign a similar guy anyways for next year. Could probably even deal Bassitt at the deadline next season and still get a similar return. Gausman would still bring in a nice return. Sucks he's not a top 20 guy anymore like you said, because his first two seasons here in Toronto he was one of the elite starters in the game. It's a shame the Jays couldn't take advantage of those years Gausman was pitching at an elite level like he was. Hope he can put together a string of starts in July where he flashes that elite level again to convince other teams he still could be a bonafide No. 1 guy. Best time would be to trade him this trade deadline. If you wait longer, his value decreases more especially if he's just pitching like a No. 2/3 guy.

    They were added to the roster because right now they're in panic mode. If they added some offense during the offseason, likely wouldn't see a whole wave of the Buffalo guys up. Hope some of the Buffalo guys can contribute and would be nice to see them help get this team out of their rut. Hope we see them playing everyday. Orelvis should have started at least one of the first two games he was called up for. Ridiculous.

    I think they need to bank on something else like help from outside the organization if they want to make WC3. Banking on Springer, KK and Turner still is ridiculous and it was ridiculous even before the season started.

    Why hasn't Atkins done anything to improve the lineup? What is he waiting for?

    Needed some more punch in this lineup. Can't believe it's been 1.5 seasons and nothing still has been done to address the issue.

    A lot of the Atkins cult only show themselves when the Blue Jays beat up on the White Sox or Tigers.

    Darvish at least wasn't like Dice K, who came with way more hype IMO at the time. I think Darvish could pitch until he's 40 or even a couple years more if he wanted to. Should easily reach 40 WAR.

    Yeah perfectly said. Nothing wrong with this criticism at all. Given the offensive struggles dating back from the beginning of 2023, they should have targeted more offensive minded players in LF and at DH. Otherwise, overall Atkins has made a lot of fantastic FA signings in the past and I don't think anyone on here is questioning that. Just question the strategy they took this previous offseason to address a significant issue that was evident during all of the 2023 season. Some FA bats would have helped more than KK and Turner.

    I don't think anyone complained about short term FA signings or are s***ing on Atkins on a couple of FA misses. No GM is ever perfect when it comes to FA signings or trades. Atkins has been very rock solid when it comes to FA signings for the most part. However, given the issue dating back from the beginning of last season, they should have targeted FA's or trades that would have helped the lineup, rather than doubling down on defensive first players like KK or targeting a 40-year-old DH. Should have been 4 for 4 indeed and we should be talking about 5 for 5. It's unfortunate Atkins hasn't been able to take advantage of this window.

    Yeah same here. Will be interesting to see what kind of contract he gets as a free agent. He's definitely a Top 10 player in the game.

    A couple more wins means Jays are above .500 and likely holding the WC3 spot. Definitely a lot better position to be in. As well, if Vladdy, Bo and Springer started to turn the corner, they would be in a way better position with a bat like Teo and/or JDM already in the fold. A couple more wins could be the difference of making the Postseason and not making the Postseason.

    Yes Atkins should have looked at ways to improve the offense last offseason. Ohtani or Soto weren't the only bats needed to fix this offense. Yes ideally they were the top elite bats available; however, there were upgrades available via free agency or trade even if they struck out on both Ohtani and Soto. Again, you keep saying Atkins couldn't have done anything to fix the offense last offseason which is a bunch of BS! Just stop man!

    So wouldn't a bat like Teo or JDM this offseason have made a difference?

    Reed Johnson and Frank Catalanotto were an awesome LF platoon. Both of them put together some nice years here and were fun to watch!

    What other players would be forced off the team if Teo signed? Nobody here would be missing KK or Turner at all lol.

    Yeah agree Blue Jays should explore all options when it comes to Bo and/or Vladdy. Difference is Kyle Tucker is actually playing at an elite level - so far 3.2 fWAR with a 176 wRC+ this season.

    Kyle Tucker has one more year of control and is arb eligible before he becomes a FA in 2026. Wonder with the Astros struggles this season, do you think they shop him at the deadline or in the offseason if they can't sign him to an extension?

    Nothing wrong with baseball discussion on a baseball forum. BTS actually responded very rationally and was respectful, unlike you who always blows a gasket when someone criticizes Atkins and then reverts to low level insults calling posters "tampons."
