    Yeah that's all he is a 5th/6th starter. Maybe the odd season, he puts up numbers like he did last season, or he can be mediocre/very bad like he is now. That's why he's a 5th/6th starter. 5.09 BB/9 doesn't help. Need to get that down in the 2-3 range. While he looked awful today, if Lauer gives you 5 innings of 3 ER every time out, I'll take that. Also, not a bad idea to use an opener (RHP) in front of him.

    Seriously, leave the stars of the game alone. If I were MLB, and anyone intentionally tried to hit Acuna, Ohtani, Soto, Judge, or any other star player, they’d be getting an immediate suspension and a hefty fine. No questions asked.

    AL Cy Young. Just needs to work on being more efficient and pitch 6-7 innings each time. So far Cease has been insane!

    Yeah seems like Jays will be sticking with him. Worked out nicely last night that it was a 5-2 game, so he had some cushion at least. Hopefully he finds his groove and could get back on track.

    I don't believe in the Angels, but kinda sucks we're running into them while they've been playing hot. Hopefully we can win this series to end the road trip. Should be a good pitching matchup tonight between Cease and Detmers.

    Those are perfectly fair judgments. Lukes isn’t some established MLB bat - he’s a career minor leaguer, and we’ve seen this type of player plenty of times before. And you’re making that call after only two games, where he happened to go 6 for 10. That’s great, and good for him, but it doesn’t suddenly mean all the concerns are gone.

    I mean, I like Lukes and he's an easy player to root for, but what makes you think he was a legit bat in the first place? He's a platoon guy who is above 30 and who probably put up his best numbers last season (.730 OPS, 103 wRC+). You're making it seem like this guy was a previous All-Star.

    Yeah injuries don't help, but also can't be the only excuse as to why this team isn't performing well. The Jays just need to survive this stretch, meaning staying close to .500 so they don't fall too far behind. I know people point to last seasons slow start, but you can't expect an exact repeat of what took place last season. Reality is others need to step up like Vladdy, Okamoto, Sanchez in terms of some slug, and we need the bullpen to lock down winnable games. Gausman and Cease have both been doing their jobs, heck even Corbin has looked decent in his brief time here. The season is far from over, but got to start winning series and hopefully finish April only 2-3 games below .500 instead of 6-7+ under.

    Braves are sitting atop the NL East with a 14-7 record and a +55 run differential which is pretty remarkable since they lost 60% of their rotation to injuries at the start of the year and also lost Profar to a suspension and both Kim and Murphy to the IL.

    One plus for today is the pen is well rested and if a save situation arises, they likely look at Varland, Rogers or Fisher.
